Eliza-May lived on Mystery Island. She belonged to the Aisha-May tribe
on the old Mystery Island. It was before any other pets and owners became
a part of Neopia. She and her tribe lived on Mystery Island--the old Mystery
Island. It had just trees, huts, and a few Aisha-made shops. She was an
Aisha, and she went to the training school. As Eliza-May walked through
the small hallway of their hut, her mother called her to go shopping.
"Eliza, come down here to go shopping...you are late getting to the market-village!"
yelled Momma-May.
"Coming Momma!" Eliza yelled. She grumbled at the thought of no life
outside of Mystery Island.
"Eliza-Aisha-Tumbo, get down here this instant!" Momma-May yelled.
"Coming!!" Eliza yelled.
Eliza took her mother's basket of trading items and strolled out into
the sun. She had to admit, Mystery Island was a beautiful place to live.
She thought maybe she would stay, instead of live in the unknown Neopia.
No, she thought, I must leave. I can't stay. It is not
my destiny. As she approached the market-village she heard someone
yell.
"Nerkmids, nerkmids, the best toy in all of Mystery Island, and the
unknown Neopia!" yelled a seller. She went up to the seller and said in
her best shopping voice: "I would like to buy a nerkmid--for the Alien
Aisha Vending Machine, of course."
"Whadda ya gotta' trade?"
"Well, I have grapes, apples, freshly baked bread, acorn toys, island
melon, and island wheat."
"Okay, I'll take an apple, grape vines, and an acorn toy."
"Sure, I'll take a mega."
She traded with the Aisha and got the things her mother needed. In her
head she ticked off the usual list...apples, bananas, bread, wheat, corn,
cookies, and milk--this time she needed apple juice. She sighed. She bought
all of her things and was traveling home when she realized there was an
abandoned boat near the water's edge. She put her things in the boat.
She knew she had enough supplies to last her about two weeks. She had
leftover trading items too. She had a rare nerkmid, which were needed
in Neopia. She put her stuff in, hopped in the boat, and took up the oars.
"Hey, Aisha, wadda ya doin in me' boat?" yelled another Aisha. She looked
up, and saw an Aisha coming towards her. She took up the oars, and rowed
off. She looked back at her home. She was gone.
***
She was off. She started to row, and row, and row until her arms got
achy. She stopped in the middle of the ocean separating her home--Mystery
Island and Neopia. There was said to be a space station in --called VirtuPets,
but that was REALLY unknown. She was starting to get hungry and she wanted
to spare her food for when she was really, really hungry. She ate a banana
and half an apple. She realized she had a whole "sea" of food. There was
water, and fish, and Koi, and much more all around her. She then realized
there were NeoPets in the sea. Oh, I wish I could tell my tribe...she
thought. She decided to fish for more food. Authors Note: It was said,
later on in Neopia, that this so-called Aisha invented the art of fishing,
while out in the open sea.
All of a sudden, when she looked up, she saw a fin. Since she had no
idea what a shark was, she was not scared. But as it traveled towards
her, she got a bit scared. Then, out popped...Koi!!
"Hello, stranger," said the mysterious Koi. "Uh,uh,uh, hi......" Eliza
stammered.
"You are scared, please, you musn't be. There is nothing to be scared
of.... except Ne... Ne..... Ne....." he said.
"What is ne...ne....ne....?" she asked.
"You don't know?" the Koi looked shocked.
"Could it be Neopi..." she tried to finish her sentence but the Koi interrupted
her.
"Don't say that name! We just know what we are talking about right?"
he said.
"Yah," she said back.
"What is your name?" she asked.
"Koieela, what's yours...thing?" Koieela asked.
"Eliza-May-Tumbo, but you can call me Eliza for short," she replied.
"Hey, do you wanna join me on a quest for Neopia?" she asked.
"Oh, a dangerous quest to Neopia," she added. "Uh, well, uh, well...I
guess, if you keep me company," Koieela said.
"Well, sure! It wouldn't be a quest without someone else!" she almost
shouted, out of happiness.
"Okay, I'll swim next to you, okay?" Kioeela said.
"Okay, sure!!" she said back. And as they made their way, she couldn't
help thinking about what Koieela said about Neopia.
***
"Land Ahoy! Land Ahoy! Land Ahoy!" Eliza woke with a start. A bird screeched
in her ear. A strange creature with a funny hairdo, long legs, and a skinny
body was yelling, "Land Ahoy" in her ear. She looked up. "That's a Lenny,"
said Koieela as she tried to yell over the Lenny's voice. "Oh, right,
okay," said Eliza, as the bird quieted down. She looked up, and there
it was. Neopia. Eliza was in shock. She never knew she would really discover
it. Wow, she thought.
"I steered the boat while you slept," said Koieela. "And this stupid
bird woke you up, cause' I was hoping to surprise you at the dock," she
added.
"Oh my, thank you SO much!!" Eliza said. As they got closer to the dock,
it looked as if the land was rising from getting so close to it. They
reached the dock and tied up the boat with the seaweed rope Koieela managed
to find under the sea. They were finally at Neopia. Eliza climbed up from
the boat and she was so happy. She was the first NeoPet from another land
to step foot on Neopia. She got her food and belongings from the boat.
The Lenny followed her and he was silent for the first time. She tied
up her boat more tightly at the dock.
"Oh, Koieela, where are you gonna stay?" Eliza painfully asked.
"Staying with you, of course! I can walk, ya know!" she said.
"You can?! Oh joy, oh rapture, oh..." she stopped as she looked up at
the Neopian sky and sighed to herself. What a beautiful Neopian sky. "Come
on, Koieela! Let's go explore Neopia!!!" They decided to find a nice place
to camp before they start to do any major exploration. They searched for
about an hour before they found nice with smooth ground and trees surrounding
it. (Author's Note: This place that they are referring to, is what
now is, the Neopian "main shops" marketplace.) Eliza had bought some
cloth (large amounts) for her mother at Mystery Island, but for now, she
used them as a tent for her, Koieela, and Lenny.
"Lenny, go into the woods and find some sticks and wood," said Koieela
commanded Lenny. "Squack!" is how Lenny replied. He obviously didn't like
being pushed around. Lenny ran into the woods. Koieela and Eliza began
scouting the area. They went as far as a place with smooth hills and plains.
(Author's Note: This is now the Neopian shops that creators made. This
is where those shops lay.) When they returned to the campsite, Lenny
was back with the wood and sticks. There were pile and piles of them on
the ground. They started work. Eliza took the sticks and put the cloth
on top of them. After a while, it looked like a fine looking tent. Meanwhile,
Koieela was making a fire with the wood. She put the wood in a circle
and lit a fire with a few of the sticks. It made a fine looking fire,
too. Eliza took a bit of food out of her pack and separated it evenly.
She gave 1/3 of it to Lenny, another 1/3 to Koieela, and the other 1/3
to herself. As they ate, they talked about what they would do if they
really discovered some NeoPets. "I think we should make a strong government,"
said Koieela.
"I think we should have that, but we have to start a colony first," said
Eliza.
"Squack....campfire...squack!!!" said Lenny.
"Okay, whatever, sure, okay...." they said.
They burst into laughter. Lenny looked hopefully pathetic at the two
of them and said, "Squack!" They laughed even harder. Poor Lenny. "What
would we do without Lenny?" they said in hopeless laughter. "Everything"
Eliza said. They laughed even more. After they calmed down, they climbed
into the tent and went of bed. The fire burned itself out, with a bit
of help from someone who lurked in the shadows....
***
The next morning, Eliza was the first to wake up. She decided to make
an old island recipe. It called for apples (three), cinnamon, sugar, grapes,
and island melon. She made it and Koieela and Lenny woke to the smell
of cinnamon, sugar, and a fruity sensation. They quickly ate up, put the
fire out, and cleaned up their tent. They packed up the remaining amount
of their breakfast, some food, and some travel items Eliza had brought
with her. Eliza had also brought the cloth and a first aid kit, and that
is what she packed in her bag. Lenny squacked and said he was going to
stay around at the campsite to keep an eye on it. So, Eliza and Koieela
set off on the horizon. They walked for at least several miles until they
heard a peculiar drumming. They went further down the pathway until they
came to a tiny village.
Meanwhile, Lenny was sweeping up the camp, cleaning, and washing the
tent, and clothes. He also hunted food. When he started to cook the food,
a strange creature came up to him. It was red, scaly, and had little tiny
wings. (Author's Note: This creature he is talking about is a Scorchio.)
"Squack... who....are.....squack.....you?" said Lenny. The creature headed
towards him and let out a flame of riveting fire. The flame sailed past
Lenny and lit the fire. It cooked the food quickly. The creature went
toward the fire and gestured toward Lenny to sit down with him and eat.
Lenny sat down and together they ate.
All the while, the creature made gestures- a way of talking for him.
Lenny miraculously understood, and he signaled back. They talked for hours
until Lenny signaled that he had to get working and that the creature
had to leave. The creature got up and left Lenny alone. Koieela gasped.
What was a village doing in the middle of Neopia? It was unknown....it
could not be. Why had they not noticed or heard anything before? They
slowly entered the village. Then, slowly, the NeoPets poked their little
heads out. They came creeping towards Koieela and Eliza.
"This is fun!!" said Eliza. They had been partying in the village all
night. Lenny eventually came looking for them, and found them.
"Let's live here forever Koieela!" said Eliza. "You know what? That
is the best idea you ever had..."
Afterword
Eliza-May lived there until 1492. She made great friends. And on Mystery
Island, there is a plaque dedicated to her for finding Neopia. If it wasn't
for her there wouldn't be Neopia. She made a living as a doctor and she
founded "The Medicine Shop." Her ancestor, the Elephante now guards that
place today. Lenny went on to become a great explorer and he founded the
VirtuPets Space Station. Koieela took on a living of the aquatic food
court, which now lays in Maraqua.
It is too bad that they never saw the developed Neopia and the lands
that were discovered for they made one of the most important discoveries
in all of Neopia--the founding of Neopia. Eliza-May's family lived until
1489. Her tribe (The Aisha-May) does not exist anymore, but descendants
live to this very day.
