The Mutation Ray: Part One

It started 200 years ago with Dr. Sloth on his home planet making evil creations in his lab. His friends and his family fear him and he plans to take over the planet but fails and is sent away into space. He leaves his home swearing that he will take over the universe and then return to destroy them.

Present Time

On the peaceful planet of Grundoia, the Grundoes are enjoying a peaceful day in the sun when a shadow comes over a Grundo city and a bright flash of green shines down on them. The Grundoes scream and run, but they are too late. They are changed into an evil mutation of their race. A shadowy man walks around looking at his new slaves, now one race of millions of other races that have been mutated into his slaves. He orders them to attack the rest of the planet and to capture or mutate anything. The Grundoes plunder the other cities and the non-evil ones numbers fall every hour.

In Grundorum, the capital city, the Grundo king is plotting against Sloth, saying, “I know we are peace loving people, but we can’t just sit here and have our world destroyed! We have worked too hard at keeping this planet peaceful to have it destroyed! We must fight back!” At that, he orders his forces to attack. Many perished in this battle, good and bad. The Grundoes gain ground on Sloth forces and fight back! Up in his station, Sloth is planning to end it all.

“Prepare the weapon and be ready to fire,” orders Sloth. His slaves charge up the weapon but then, BAM! The Grundo fighters attack. “Fire the weapon,” Sloth orders and the Grundoes didn’t know what hit them. A large beam fires from Sloth’s ship and the fighters are destroyed. The beam hit the planet and the king and many warriors return fire and launch their attack on Sloth, just as they planned. The warriors look out the window and they see their planet being destroyed and their families and friends mutated.

“NO! HE FIRED ON US!” yelled the king. “We will avenge you, my people.” His ship blasts off towards Sloth’s station. The Grundoes land on the station and fight their way to the bridge. Many are destroyed.

“Sloth!” yelled the king. “I WILL DESTROY YOU WITH MY HANDS!” At this, the king drew his sword and charged Sloth. Sloth pulled out a gun and vaporized the king and his warriors. He looked out the window and whispered, “Neopia, you are next.”

Far away, the Faerie Queen of Earth and the other faeries, Fire, Water, Dark, Light and Earth sense the arrival of Sloth. The Faerie Queen said, “Space Faerie, we need your help. Neopia is going to be destroyed. Come now.” In the distant moon of Earth, the Space Faerie awakens, lights up in flames and rockets off to Earth. Not knowing what she is going to get into the Space Faerie says, “Don’t worry, my Faerie Sisters. I will help with all my might and I will save you.”

Down on Earth, in a house in Neopia, Link19 wakes with a start. Zarimon and Pooglesa wake up with a start as well. Link19 is a NeoPet owner and his pets are Zarimon and Pooglesa. The pets have the ability to become strong, fast and intelligent and can defend themselves against danger. There are many other pets and owners on Neopia.

“Link, what’s wrong?” Zarimon asks.

“I don’t know, Zarimon.”

“I don’t know, but I know something is going to happen. Come on you two and let’s go see the Faerie Queen. We have a long hike to get to the Mystic Mountains.”

“The Mystic Mountains? Why do we have to go there?” Zarimon asked.

“Yes, why?” Pooglesa also asks.

“Because I have a feeling that Neopia is in danger. Come on, let’s go!”

At that, Link19 gets out of bed, puts on a coat and his shoes and picks up Zarimon and Pooglesa and goes out the door. After a long hike and a few falls, Link reaches the Cave of the Faerie Counsel. “FAERIE QUEEN, I NEED TO TALK TO YOU!” yells Link.

“Link, we have been expecting your arrival. There is going to be much danger ahead of you. You and your pets are going to have to be brave in the danger ahead,” said the Faerie Queen.

“I am ready,” says Link.

“And so are we,” say Zarimon and Pooglesa together.

“Good," says the Queen. “Zarimon, Pooglesa, you will need to be stronger for the times ahead.” At that, the Faerie Queen points at the two pets and sends a beam at them making them three times stronger than they were before.

“Link, now go to the Valley of Forgotten Souls. There, you will meet the Space Faerie. She will tell you what you need to do.”

Link and his pets set off down the mountain. With ten hours of hard hiking, Link and his pets arrive at the Valley of Forgotten Souls. “The Space Faerie should be here or will be here soon.”

“Guess we have to go down there,” squeaks Pooglesa, pointing down into the valley. “Zarimon, use your flying ability and fly us down there.”

Link and Pooglesa grab onto Zarimon and they fly to the bottom of the valley.

"Watch out for the ghosts and other evil creatures,” Link tells his pets. Pooglesa and Zarimon both nod their heads as they hear a low evil voice, growling, “I will eat your pets.” A ghost grabs Pooglesa and brings her to his mouth. A purple beam hits the ghost destroying it. Pooglesa, Zarimon and Link all look around and see a faerie floating in the air pointing at where the ghost used to be. She lowers her hand, saying, “Take me to the Faerie Council”.

Link and his pets tell her to follow them, but she says to them, “No, just tell me where it is and then hold on to me.” All three grab on to her and hear a loud CRACK and they were back in the Faerie Council room!

“Faerie Queen, there is a strike force coming to Earth from Dr. Sloth. His space station is getting closer. On his way, he has taken over the Grundo Planet” I don’t think we can stop him!” says the Space Faerie.

“Oh, but we can. The one who is going to stop him is the young boy you have just met,” says the Faerie Queen, pointing at Link.

“But he is just a boy, Queen! How can he possible save Neopia?”

“That is why I chose him to go and bring you to us,” answered the Faerie Queen. “He may seem weak now, but trust me, he will save Neopia”.

“But, why this boy? There must be more owners than this one!” said the Space Faerie.

“That there is, but Link19 will need only the best. He is one of the best Owners that Neopia has. He will begin and end this battle with Sloth and you will help, too,” The Faerie Queen said calmly.

“Now, Link, go to Neopia and get the best Owners you can find. The names of the owners are Zafara-Lovergirl, Zigamorphigus, Zman807 and BarbarianBrett. They will help you with your fight. They are some of the many Ultimate Fighters Neopia has to offer. Now, go to Neopia central and find these people and bring them and their pets to me.

“Space Faerie, try to destroy this strike force before it comes and plunders our planet. Now go you two. You have your work. Be quick now, all of Neopia is counting on you!”

Link then set off for Neopia central.

“Umm, Link. How are you going to beat this Sloth when we could barely beat that ghost?” asked Zarimon.

“I don’t really know, but I guess we will find out soon enough,” replied Link.

After hours of searching and questioning, Link found Zafara-Lovergirl, Zigamorphigus, Zman807 and BarbarianBrett. He told them what was going to happen but Zigamorphigus said no and left, not wanting to fight, but the other three stayed.

“We are ready now. Let’s go to the faerie Queen, Link,” says Zafara-Lovergirl, and off they went to the Mystic Mountain. After about an hour of hiking from valley to mountain to grassland, they finally reached the Mystic Mountain.

“Where are we?” says Link.

“Ooooh! Ahhhhhhhh!” said Zafara-Lovergirl, BarbarianBrett and Zman807 said at the same time.

At that, they all start up the mountainside and after about twenty minutes of climbing, they reached a cave entrance.

“We’re here,” says Link. Everyone walks into the cave. “FAERIE QUEEN, I HAVE BROUGHT THE ONES YOU WANTED!” yelled Link.

A low, hissing voice says behind them, “The Faerie Queen isn’t here but you can answer to me first!”

Link looks around quickly and the Dark Faerie is there! “Where is the Faerie Queen?" asked Link.

“She has gone to try to find the Warrior Faerie. They are good friends and she wants to save the world but I would like it better if Neopia is changed into an evil wasteland. It is my type of world, if you ask me,” hissed the Dark Faerie.

“You are evil, do you know that, Faerie?” said Link.

“Oh, don’t flatter me. You are making me blush!” hissed the Faerie.
