The Faerie Field

It was a cool summer day in Neopia. Training school had just gotten out at 12:00 noon, and three NeoPets, Spo the green Jubjub, Lenny the yellow Lenny, and Pooka the green Shoyru, were on their way to meet their two owners, Tal and Mindi (Spo being Tal's pet and Lenny and Pooka being Mindi's pets) at Mindi's house. When they got there, they were greeted by a delicious smell coming from the kitchen!

"Hello Mrs. Orsen!" said Pooka.

"Oh hi ya'll!" she looked puzzled, "Is it 12:00 already?" she asked.

"Yes ma'm!" replied Lenny.

"Well, Tal and Mindi are upstairs. When you go up, tell them lunch is almost ready."

Lenny sniffed the air, "Mmmmmm. What are you making?"

"Potato and leek soup."

"Mmmmmm! My favourite!" said Lenny with a grin as they they started up the stairs.

When they got to the top they found Tal and Mindi in a game of Jubjub Blackjack.

"Hi!" said Spo.

"Hi Spo!" said Tal as he got up to hug his only pet. "How was training school?"

"It was okay. What are ya'll doing?"

"Oh, just playing a game of blackjack," answered Mindi, "We just got started."

"But Mindi," Lenny interrupted, "Isn't it our playtime?" he asked anxiously.

"Oh, sorry Lenny! It'll have to wait...I've got big things riding on this game! I've already bet 10 Neopoints, 3 NeoPet Trading cards, and 1 Neocoin!"

"Oh", Lenny said sadly, as did the other pets.

"But," Mindi was hesitant, "if you want you could go walking by yourselves."

"Really?" said Pooka.

"Well as long as you stay near the marketplace."

"Okay!" she said grabbing Lenny. Then she paused... "Can Spo come to?" she pleaded.

"Well...okay." said Tal. Then Pooka Grabbed Spo and headed out the door. "Oh...by the way", she said as she flew back inside, "lunch is almost ready!" Then she left.

"Wow! Isn't this great?!" Pooka said. "We can do whatever we want!"

Lenny wasn't so happy, "I don't know...somehow I don't feel safe!"

"Oh, don't worry Lenny!" Spo encouraged, "We'll be fine!"

"Look up ahead guys!" said Pooka, "It's a theme park! Let's go!"

"Hey, wait up!" said Spo, "Woooooaaaaa!!!Ouch!!!" Spo fell to the ground.

"Spo, you all right?!" asked Pooka.

"Oooooh, I knew something bad was going to happen!" complained Lenny.

"No, it's nothing bad, I just fell into this hole."

"Wow! That's a big hole!" exclaimed Pooka. "Hey look down in it. It...it's a tunnel!"

"Where do you think it leads?" asked Spo.

"I don't know, but I bet it leads somewhere neat! C'mon!" she said jumping down in it.

"But...Pooka...we're supposed to stay close to the marketplace!" whined Lenny.

"Oh c'mon, Lenny...we'll be gone five minutes at the most!" encouraged Pooka.

Then Spo jumped down into the hole, too. "Oh okay, but I've got a bad feeling about this!" Then he jumped in, also.

The three pets walked on into the dark tunnel and kept walking until finally... "Look ... look up ahead ... there's light!" said Spo.

"C'mon. Let's hurry!" Pooka said with a flap of her wings. She was already at the end. When everyone reached the end, all that lay before them was a huge field of overgrown grass. "See, I told you we'd be fine" said Pooka, "All it was ... was this dumb 'ol field!"

RRRUUUUUUUSSSSHHHHHH!!! "What was that?" asked Lenny in panic.

"What was what?" RRRUUUUUUSSSSSHHHHHH!!! "That!?!?!?"

"I don't know," said Pooka in shock herself.

"P......P.......Pooka!"

"What?"

"What is that??!!"

Pooka looked ahead and there were two glowing dots floating toward them! "Let's get out of here!!!" All the pets agreed by saying, "Aye!!!" They ran about in panic, but everywhere they ran, new 'glowing eyes' would appear! Even...in the tunnel! "AAAAAAAAH! We're surrounded!!!" Pooka cried frantically. And she was right. Pretty soon there were thousands of millions and billions of glowing 'eyes' swarming everywhere! The three pets found themselves backed into a corner and an 'eye' was now close enough to show what it really was.

"Why...these aren't eyes at all!" exclaimed Spo.

"Then...what are they?!"

"They're faeries!" And, sure enough...all of the glowing eyes were really glowing faeries. "Wow! Neat!" exclaimed Pooka.

"Hello!" said a light fairy.

"Hello," said the three pets, now feeling so much relieved.

"Please, won't you come and eat with us and let us tell you what you have discovered?" asked one of the faeries.

"Sure!" said Spo who by now was feeling much safer...but little did they know that they were not safe at all. Just beside the Faerie Field a Swamp Ghoul who worked for none other than Dr. F. Sloth had heard every word which they had said! "A whole field of faeries!" he whispered to himself. "Dr. Sloth will love this!" The Swamp Ghoul took off as fast as he could toward Dr. Sloth's evil tower to tell him of the news. When he arrived, he was not greeted so happily. "Where have you been?!" demanded Dr. Sloth.

"You were supposed to be here an hour ago!"

"I know...my Great. Uh...but, I bring good news!"

"What?"

"I have found a whole field that is so very full of faeries."

"A whole field of faeries? PERFECT!!! A whole field of faeries at my command! This could be the chance I've been waiting for to control Neopia!!! Warm up my ray gun! The one I used to transform the Grundos."

"Yes, your Greatness."

"It's time to transform some faeries!!! Ha, ha, ha!"

"You see...you've found only one of the many Faerie Fields in Neopia," the faerie explained. "Most of the faeries grew up here."

Just then...a dark shadow fell across the Faerie Field. "What is that?" asked Pooka. It was Dr. SLOTH!!!...holding his ray gun! Dr. Sloth yelled, "Start the count down!" 5...4...3...2...1...Fire!!! Bzzzzzzzz!!! The ray gun fired. It was hitting all of the fairies and turning them to evil!!!

"What are we going to do!?!" yelled Lenny.

"First, we have to find a safe place where the ray won't get US!" shouted Spo. A Fire Faerie popped up and said, "Quick! Follow me!" They did not hesitate. The faerie led the way to a small hidden cave. "Quick...in here!" The pets entered it just in time to escape the ray of Dr. Sloth's gun.

"Phew! Thanks a lot, Miss faerie!" said Pooka.

"You're welcome. Now listen carefully. All of the faeries except for me have been transformed. They have all become Dr. Sloth's slaves. Now...unless you want to let Dr. Sloth take over Neopia, you have to find the B-24.S."

"What is that?" asked Lenny.

"It's what the ray gun is plugged into. This is where it receives its energy and power. Find the B-24.S and destroy it. Once you do...the ray gun and all of its effects will be destroyed immediately."

"All right...let's go and find it!" said Pooka. "But, where is it?"

"Well...since the ray gun is plugged into it...it cannot be too far away. Find the cord, then follow it!"

It wasn't hard to find the plug, because it wasn't hard to see the ray. The 3 pets tiptoed their way up to the cord and followed it until they were in eye's distance of the B-24.S! "Yippee!!!" Lenny shouted accidentally. Dr. Sloth heard him speak. He turned around and saw them attempting to destroy his B-24.S. "Nooooooooo!!!" he yelled as he ran toward them. They had to do something quick!

"Raaaaaaaaauuuuauaaauauauuuuarrrrrr!!!" yelled Spo as his Jubjub instincts kicked in. Well that made Dr. Sloth stop and back up.

"How are we going to destroy this thing?" asked Pooka.

"I know!" said Lenny.

"I know everything about mechanics and mechanical things. I'll just program this machine to self-destruct!" Beep, beep, beep...tick, tick, tick. "Now there. It is done!"

"Self-destruct in 5 seconds," said a computer voice. When Dr. Sloth heard this, he cried with a loud voice, "Nooooooooooooooo!!" "Noooooooooooo!!"

"5...4 ..."

"We've got to get out of here!" yelled Spo.

They began to run. "3...2...1!"

BBBOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!! The ray gun was now destroyed. Everything immediately became normal once again. "Hooray!" shouted everyone....Well...almost everyone.

"This is not over. You will not win next time...mark my words," shouted Dr. Sloth angrily as he flew away.

"Phew! Thank goodness that is over with!" said Lenny.

"How can we ever thank you?" asked a faerie. "You have saved our people!"

"Well...we could use a ride back home. We were supposed to be there ten minutes ago," answered Spo.

"Sure!" said the faeries. Fzzzzzzzzz!...with that, they were gone!

The last thing the three pets saw was a bunch of sparkles and they found themselves home again.

"Wow!" said Spo.

"That was neat!" said Pooka.

"You know what?" asked Lenny. "I have to admit...that was kind of enjoyable!"

"Yeah! It was something, huh?" said Spo.

"Hey! Who knows what the future will hold for us....Perhaps maybe one day we will again meet up with another "Faerie Field," said Pooka. And, with that, they all went in to greet their owners and to await a new adventure!
