A Trip to the Pound

I woke up and looked around. My apartment was big enough for four pets but I only had one! So I made a decision. I walked over to my Kougra, Zayi2000's room and shook him awake. "Wake up! We're going to the pound!" Zayi2000 woke up. "You're not going to get rid of me, are you?"

I laughed, "Of course not! We're going to adopt another NeoPet for you to play with!"

"Oh, good! Can we get a Lupe? They're really nice!"

"Maybe, but first you have to get up and have your breakfast. Then we'll leave."

Zayi2000 got up and we went into the kitchen and had a purple donut and bowl of Neocrunch cereal each for breakfast.

"Can we go now? Can we go now?" asked Zayi2000, bouncing around with excitement.

"Okay, I'll just get my bag and some Neopoints!"

I grabbed 200 NP and we started off. We got to the marketplace and I saw a shop with a sale on food.

"I just want to have a quick look in that shop, you can wait here if you like."

"Look there's kinetsian and clintania! I'll go talk to them."

"Of course, but don't be too long!"

A few minutes later I stepped out of the shop with some apples and chocolate Chias.

"Zayi2000! Come here." Zayi2000 came running up. "Here you go. One chocolate Chia and an apple. There's one of each for your friends too. Take them to your friends and then we'd better head off." A few minutes later we left the Marketplace.

"Look! There's the pound!" Zayi2000 yelled a few minutes later.

"Okay. Let's go in then!"

We stepped inside the pound and looked around. There were two desks on one side of the room. At the first one there was a Blumaroo and a sign saying "Adopt". At the other there was a scary looking woman and a sign that said "Abandon". We walked over to the right desk and told the Blumaroo that we wished to adopt a NeoPet.

"Okay, we have a number of fine pets available at the moment, is there any in particular you would like?"

"Ummmm, I'm not sure, maybe a Lupe" I said.

"Okay, I'm not sure if we have any Lupes at the moment, but we'll try and find you one!"

"Okay, thank-you!"

We walked past cages and cages of abandoned NeoPets. They all stared out at us, crying. We saw cages full of Scorchios, Grundos, tons of the new penguin Bruces, Skeiths, Nimmos, Fuzios, Jubjubs, and the occasional Cybunny, Kau or Blumaroo. But there aren't any Lupes. "I'm sorry" said the Blumaroo, "we don't seem to have any Lupes today. Could I interest you in a Flotsam or a Bruce, maybe?"

"No, thanks anyway. I had my heart set on a Lupe!" Zayi2000 and I turned to walk away. We had just walked out the door, when a young girl walked in the door, dragging a wimpering Lupe behind her.

"Here take this useless lump!" she yelled. "I never want to see it again!"

"That will be 80 NP" scary Ms. Worley said.

"Here! Take it! Take it all!" The girl flung 100 NP at Ms. Worley and ran out the door. Ms Worley looked at Zayi2000 and I and shrugged. "You can have the other 20 if you want!" Zayi2000 ran forward and picked them up. "Thanks," we said together. "Can we have that Lupe?"

"You'll have to ask the Blumaroo," said Ms Worley, before turning to someone who was trying to abandon a Skeith.

"Hey Mr. Blumaroo! Mr. Blumaroo!" yelled out Zayi200, running down the hall.

"Yes?"

"We would like to adopt that Lupe!" I said running up behind Zayi2000.

"Okay, you can have her for 43 NP!"

"Oh, thank you so much!"

"That's okay, just follow me and we will sign the papers." Blumaroo called out to an Aisha walking down the hall. "Get the blue Lupe out of her cage! She's being adopted!"

Zayi2000 and I walked down the hall with the Blumaroo and just as we were signing the papers the girl who had abandoned the Lupe burst in. "I want my Lupe back," she said.

"I am sorry but this lady is in the process of adopting her."

"But she is mine!" cried the girl.

"Not anymore, now she belongs to ozchic"

The Aisha walked in with the Lupe and Zayi2000 and I turned around and walked out of the pound with our new friend Lupular. "Thank-you for adopting me" said Lupular. "That's all right," I said and spotted something out of the corner of my eye.

"Why don't you two talk and I'll be back in just a minute."

"Okay," Zayi2000 and Lupular said as I hurried towards what I had seen earlier.

I walked inside a shop and took something off one of the shelves. "Excuse me," I said to the shopkeeper, "How much are these?"

"You can have them both for 78 NP," said the shopkeeper.

"Sorry, I only have 77 NP, I just adopted a NeoPet from the pound and she was more expensive than I thought."

"Okay, then you can have them for 77 NP."

I bought both items and ran back out to Zayi2000 and Lupular. "Here you go guys! Food packs straight from the shop!"

"Chocolate Chias and Apples!" They both yelled and we all ran home like one big family.
