The Feather

Danny the Bruce has always felt different from the other NeoPets, this is his story.

Danny sat in his chair thinking, "Why is it that I have shoes instead of paws or a tail?" And skin instead of fur or scales?? And why do I look so much like the owners?" He sat thinking these thoughts until there was a knock on the front door. Who could that be? Opening the door was his friend Michal the Kacheek! "Hey Danny I found this weird thing when I was hiking in the woods this morning!" In the living room Michal took a package out of his Igloo cooler....

"I didn't want it to melt," said Michal, unwrapping the now glowing blue Sphere and handing it to Danny. He could see something inside of the Sphere! As the sphere melted they could tell it was some sort of a feather. When it dried, Bruce picked it up and looked at it, wondering what it was. "Do you think we should take it to Falanaa the Elephante?"

" She may know what it does," agreed Michal.

Falanaa dusted it with some faerie dust, which made it hum very suspiciously. Pushing her eye-glasses back up on her nose, she said, "Danny, have you noticed that the feather glows when you hold it?"

"Yes, I was wondering about that," Danny replied.

"You should take it to the good Dark Faerie in the Haunted Woods. She may be able to help you."

Giving Falanaa 10 NP for her help, Danny the Bruce walked outside, calling to Michal. "Come on we have to go see the good Dark Faerie."

"WHAT!?!? Are you nuts?? There are evil Scorchios, Unis, and Korbats in those woods!" Danny shrugged and continued walking towards the woods.

As it got dark he could hear rustling sounds coming from behind him! As he continued to walk along the path, each sound made his heart beat faster and faster....

Suddenly a horrible yellow, white and green blob jumped out!!! "YIKES! " yelled Danny, spinning around, running for his life. As he raced down the path he heard someone or something say "OUCH!"

"Wait Danny, it's me Michal!" A crazy Korbat had dumped a vat of melted mallow berries over him. Turning around, he looked at the sticky mallowberry leaves and twigs matted in his friend's fur. He began to laugh.

"Oh, I'm sorry but you look so funny!" Danny said.

Slowly Michal started to grin, "I guess I do look kinda silly"

Washing up in a nearby river and walking along the path for a while, they could both see a brick house on to the left of the path. "That's the good Dark Faerie's house!!" said Michal. But before they could knock on the door, the good Dark Faerie opened it.

"Come in, come in, I know what you are here for. All you have to do is take the feather, throw it up in the air and think of what you want the most. Looking at Michal and then at the faerie, he tossed it up in the air. He wished to be a true NeoPet....The feather hovered above him and started to glow brightly. Little by little it started to turn rain sparkly dust. It completely covered Danny's entire body. He began to glow. "Nothing has happened now what?"

Walking over to Danny, the faerie started to brush off the dust on his shoulder. Instead of his black tux, there was a patch of blue feathers!!!

"WOW!" said Michal, let me help!

Little by little a yellow bird foot appeared, a beak, blue feathers, and a white chest. All that remained of the old Bruce was his bow tie. Looking into the mirror, he turned this way and that, did a little jump, a flip, and a hop. He turned around to them both exclaiming, " I'm a pet! " I'm a NeoPet!" Michal pet Danny's slick feathers and touched his smooth beak, "COOL, but are you really Danny?" Tilting his head to the side and then smiling at Michal, "Do you want a sticky mallowberry to get stuck in your fur again?" And that my dear readers is how Bruce became Bruce the penguin.
