Battledome: Part Four

Hope Shattered, Peace Lives On

SunnieGirl opened her eyes. A sharp pain ran through her back. She looked around, and saw the worried face of her owner. She lifted her head, to make sure it was really her owner, and then colapsed again, shutting her eyes at the cruel world.

"Sunnie? SunnieGirl? You're all right, aren't you? her owner asked. Still keeping her eyes shut, she answered, "Lisa, I couldn't beat him....I couldn't beat that Tatsu. I knew I was the strongest...oh, why couldn't I?" she asked, still not believing what had taken place.

"Sunnie, you're not the strongest ever....rest now, you need it," she whispered to Sunnie.

For the first time, the Shoyru opened one eye and gazed at her surroundings. It was dark and dreary. She was on a bed with a white blanket. She automatically realized she was in the Dome hospital.

"I'm going! I have to beat that other Kacheek! I can still get a Battledome trophy!" She leaped out of the hospital bed in a quick flurry. Then, she tried running, but her owner pinned her by catching her wing.

"You have to rest some more! That blow ColdMoon gave you was nearly fatal! Aqualidria will finish the rest of the battles and you'll keep the trophy," she excliamed.

"No! No! I'll beat that Kacheek!" she shouted in rage.

SunnieGirl convinced her owner eventually to let her finish the other battle. They were all back at the Battledome arena about to start the next match with the small Kacheek opponent. SunnieGirl was convinced that it was impossible to lose this last battle and she would still get her silver trophy.

The loudspeaker chimed in and the battle had begun. Sunnie blasted the Kacheek with a Rainbow Frost Cannon and then with a Sun Ray, knocked it tumbling back. She grinned eagerly. She was winning. Then the Kacheek came back with a Black Frost Cannon. Flying in to the air, SunnieGirl dodged it skillfully. Then, she smirked and shot a gigantic Grand Lightning Beam. The little Kacheek rolled back, full of scrapes and still suffering from the charge, shrunk below SunnieGirl who was overwhelmed with fear.

At that moment, SunnieGirl had a strange feeling of familarity but she didn't know why. With those feelings, she quickly raised her paw and prepared to slash down at the Kacheek. At that split second she remembered that feeling, again. She was doing the same thing that ColdMoon did to her. She slowly lowered her paw and a hot, shining tear rolled down her face.

"I'm not evil like ColdMoon! I'm not! I can't hurt this innocent Kacheek!!! I forfeit!" she screamed for everyone to hear.

"You have a very warm heart, but I can tell you buried it within you, for some reason," the Kacheek whispered and wiped the tear with it's paw gently. SunnieGirl stepped back, with the pride of a champion, and raised her head high.

"I will not hurt this creature! I may be a rebel at times, but I'm not heartless...like that Tatsu....What's fighting worth, when your cruel? I'll fight, but not to destroy. I'm giving up a trophy to show that cruelty isn't what the Battledome was meant for!!!" she yelled. The whole crowd in the stadium seemed to stand up and applaud. Screams and cheers broke from the Battledome and rung throughout Neopia.

SunnieGirl continued to stand tall and shedding an occasional tear, when thinking of how the tatsu had shattered her hopes. AcornGal ran down into the arena and hugged her. "I knew you had it in you, SunnieGirl!" she whispered, while hugging her. "Oh, Sunnie, you proved you do have a heart and somewhere in there...I know it'll show up now! Oh, I'm so glad you're my sister!"

She continued. Their owner came down with MapleBunny and Aqualidria and they all headed back to Neopia Central. Although SunnieGirl didn't get her trophy, she learned that over her battle hopes she still had a very kind heart and that the battledome wasn't a place to create violence, but to compete and win. Over all, though, she learned that, win or lose, peace and harmony is really the best way around things!
