Good-bye
"I'll go back to them in the
morning," said Celest, yawning quietly, "But first I need to sleep. Goodnight,
Anna!" Celest curled up in the corner lined with blankets. Anna balled
up on the couch and covered herself up. "Goodnight," she whispered.
The next morning, Anna found
some wild mushrooms and berries and managed to make a very good breakfast.
Celest, who promised Anna she'd be back, set out on a full stomach and
rushed to the Lupe pack as soon as she could. When she got there, all
the Lupes were quietly discussing something. They took no heed to Celest,
who walked straight forward to the large rock on which Galilobo stood
the night before. Galilobo was now laying on the rock. His eyes were shut
tight and his paws over his ears. Celest approached the rock. "Galilobo?"
she asked. Galilobo looked up immediately. When he saw who it was, he
stood up and started licking his fur frantically. Celest smiled. "Don't
try to impress me," she said, "I'm already impressed." Galilobo stopped
and laughed. "You sound like the old you. Do you remember now?" he asked.
"Yes," Celest replied, "The witch gave me a Remembrance Spell. I remember
everything now." Galilobo beckoned Celest to the rock, "Come. You belong
beside me." Celest proudly took her place beside Galilobo. Then Galilobo
cleared his throat and said in a loud voice, "Attention everyone!" Everyone
stopped talking and looked up at the rock. "Star has rejoined us," he
began, smiling, "She has remembered all of her past." At that, the whole
Lupe crowd cheered. Celest beamed. It was too good to be true. "She will
be staying with us and going on our journey around Neopia," said Galilobo,
enjoying the cheers. It was too good to be true. "Galilobo!"
Celest shouted over the noise,
"I can't stay!" All of the Lupes stopped abruptly. Celest faced them and
said, "I cannot stay. I promised the witch I'd come back. I must keep
my promise." She looked out upon all the disappointed faces. "I-I'm sorry,"
she said, her voice quivering with tears. She didn't know what to do.
Should she stay with the Magical Lupes and leave Anna? Or should she go
back to Anna and just forget about Galilobo? No. She'd have to do something.
Something. But right now...right now...The Lupes grumbled to themselves,
some thinking very angry thoughts. Celest couldn't bear it any longer.
"I'm sorry!" she shouted, and ran toward the forest. Had she made the
right choice???
When Celest got back to Anna's
house, it was dark outside. She needed some time to work things through.
She had lived with Galilobo before she met Anna, so was it right to leave
Anna instead? Or should she leave Galilobo and the others that she hadn't
remembered until two nights ago? It was all so confusing. She needed advice.
Anna rushed outside when she saw Celest coming up the lawn.
"Celest!" she said, "What's
wrong?" Celest told Anna all about what had happened. After she finished,
Anna said with a sigh, "Then you must go to them."
"What?!" Celest asked, taken back.
"You love him, Celest," said Anna, "Follow your heart. It will show you
the true way."
"That's...the most beautiful thing you've ever said, Anna," said Celest
softly, "I will miss you deeply." "So will I." Anna bent down and kissed
Celest.
"Take care," she said.
"I will!" said Celest, running off into the forest again, "Good-bye!"
"Good-bye!" Anna called, tears streaming down her face, "Good-bye, my
dear Celest!"
Light Versus Dark
Celest ran as fast as she could
back to the pack. Something was wrong. She could sense it in the light
of the stars. When she reached the open ravine, she halted. It was the
Black Lupe! He and Scout were fighting. Galilobo was catching his breath
and limping. Suddenly, Scout was thrown against a tree! Celest couldn't
bear it.
"Stop!" she cried, revealing
herself from behind the trees.
Shadow, the Dark Lupe, laughed. "Fool!" he said, "I see you've regained
your memory, but you will never beat me!" He faced Galilobo, who was still
limping. "Eternal slumber!"
"What kind of an attack is that?! I've never heard of it!" Scout wondered.
"A very high level," replied Shadow calmly, "It puts the desired target
into a sleep which never ends. Just observe!"
Just then, Shadow's fiery red
eyes glowed silver. Galilobo, who Shadow was looking at, started swaying
back and forth. "Galilobo! Don't look in his eyes!" Celest cried, but
it was no use. Galilobo fell over and hit the ground. He started sleeping,
snoring loudly. "Galilobo!" Scout growled, rushing forward, "This is no
time for a nap!!!"
"It is pointless!" Shadow
laughed, "He shall never wake up, no matter what you do! Triumph is MINE!!!!"
Celest leaped towards Shadow, taking him by surprise and pinning him to
the ground. A smirk arose across Shadow's evil face. "Go ahead," he said,
"Kill me."
"I don't kill anyone," Celest growled, "No matter how bad they are. But
I warn you this: Stay away from here. You have already been exiled. Now
go! Go as far as the Plane of Ultimate Evil if you please, but do not
come back!"
"Very well," said Shadow, "I shan't return." Celest got up and turned
around, walking towards Galilobo.
"As soon as I take revenge!!!" Shadow yelled from behind her. Suddenly,
he leaped up and bit her! Then the next thing she knew, Celest was on
the ground and the star on her forehead was shining brightly and blinding
her. There was a yelp of pain and then Celest blacked out. "Celest! Celest,
wake up!" said a voice. Celest yawned and looked up. Her eyes were out
of focus and she couldn't see very well, but she could see a green figure
above her.
"S-scout?" she asked uncertainly.
"Yes," he said, "It's me. Are you all right?"
"Yeah," said Celest, scrambling to her feet, "I'm-I'm fine... What about
Galilobo?"
"Well, he's still asleep," said Scout.
"What?!" Celest said angrily, her sight coming back into focus.
"You see, we couldn't really wake him up," said Scout shyly, "Seems Shadow
wasn't lying about that Eternal Slumber thing."
"No!" Celest shouted, "Where are the others?!"
"They're back at the Rock. We told them we'd have to clear out the area
for signs of Shadow before we could let them wander off," Scout replied.
"NO!!! Galilobo!" Galilobo was lying next to her, snoring softly. "Galilobo!
Wake up!" Celest cried, "Please, Galilobo! Wake up, PLEASE!!!" Galilobo
snored a little louder. "No," Celest whispered, "Please wake up, Galilobo."
Two tears rolled down Celest's nose and onto Galilobo's. Galilobo snorted
and blinked! "Galilobo?" Celest said hopefully.
Galilobo opened his eyes. "Oh!"
he said suddenly, "Oh, I'm a mess!" He leaped up and started grooming
himself hurriedly. "Stop," said Celest, "Don't try to impress me. I'm
already impressed." She gave Galilobo a little kiss and made him blush.
"Come on," said Celest, "Let's get back to the Pack." And they walked
off to the Magical Lupe Pack. Celest finally felt like she belonged. And
she did.
The End!
