ANNUAL FAERIE FESTIVAL PROVIDES A GOOD TIME FOR ALL

Seemingly all of Neopia gathered here to celebrate the annual Faerie Festival. The streets were overrun with merry Neopians, many of whom were dressed up as their favourite faeries. The festivities began early this morning, and by noon it appeared that many of the merry revelers had fallen under the spell of one too many “secret smoothies.” In addition to a number of Neopian bands performing along the sidewalks, the crowds were also entertained by streetcorner recitations by many of Neopia’s finest poets. Also present were a number of acting troupes, many of whom performed re-enactments of the Neopets’ brave defeat of Dr. Sloth.

However the biggest story this year, as any other, was the rampant speculation surrounding which faeries might or might not be attending. As one Neopian put it, “I mean, you never know who’s gonna show up. For example, last year the Faerie Queen came out. And, you know, that was like the first time in eight years that’s she’s been. And there’s also the issue of what they’re gonna bring. Like, for example, two years ago I got the ability to shoot fireballs from the Fire Faerie. Man, that was sweet!”

While Festival regulars such as the Earth and Air Faeries made their usual appearance, it was the surprising appearance of the Light Faerie, who had been a no-show the past couple years, which brought the greatest delight from the crowd. Her generous stock of gifts included Psychic Blast, Mote Dance and Flash spells. Although expected, the Faerie Queen’s absence was a disappointment to her loyal admirers. Said one fan, “Well, I didn’t really expect her to show. I mean, she came last year, so we could hardly expect her to attend two years in a row.” The Faerie Queen’s no-show aside, a generally good time was had by all, especially since the festival was able to avoid any injuries, accidents, rioting or arrests.
