Yet again, the time has come to join Neopia’s leading economic experts. Visiting our hosts this week will be Fabiana Kotzencraft, President of Uni’s Beauty Salon. Fabiana will be here to discuss the scandalous rumours that have led to her company’s plummeting stock prices. And now, here are Neil and Maria…
KAUVUTO: Hello and thank you for joining us this week at The Neo-Market Report. I’m your host Neil Kauvuto, and as always I’m glad to introduce my co-host, the lovely and talented Maria Blumaroono, who’s here with the latest word from the floor of the exchange. Tell us Maria, who’s making news on the Big Board this week?
BLUMAROONO: Neil, the buzz on the floor has been about the market’s sudden midweek collapse, which left many companies scrambling desperately before Wednesday’s closing bell. With the Neodaq index dropping an incredible 238 points in a single day, investors were faced with a number of decisions: Those left holding shares had to ask, “Should I sell now, or do I stick it out and wait for my stocks to go back up?” Meanwhile, those without shares pondered, “Should I snap up these bargains now, or will I be able to get a better bargain when things get worse?”
Well, it appears as if many of those hit hardest by Wednesday’s crash have already begun to show encouraging signs of life. One such company looking to get back on track is Hakaheke Island Flights, whose stock value plunged an unbelievable forty-five points on Wednesday. In the forty-eight hours since the crash, Hakaheke has slowly picked up momentum, regaining 6 NPs a share in moderate trading. When asked about the economy’s recent volatility, Hakaheke President Cappa Torville said, “The market goes up, the market goes down. That’s just how it is… I’m not too concerned.”
KAUVUTO: However, one company that has yet to turn it around has been Faerie Clothing Ltd., who not only lost twelve points on Wednesday, but have continued to reel by losing another dozen NPs a share in the past two days. Speaking of her company’s woes during the past week, Faerie Clothing Ltd. President Donna Kougran said, “Well obviously, I’m devastated… our new winter line had received rave reviews and great buzz, but now the market’s collapse has ruined everything. It’s just so disappointing…”
Another entrepreneur having a hard time lately is Fabiana Kotzencraft, whose chain of Uni Beauty Salons have recently faced some scandalous allegations. Fabiana has been gracious enough to join us today, so that the public can hear from her, firsthand, what’s actually going on. Fabiana, thanks so much for coming by today.
FABIANA: Thank you, Neil. I’m so glad that you’d given me the opportunity to address some of the vicious rumours that have been spread about my company.
BLUMAROONO: Now Fabiana, about a month ago some stories began to surface, which made a number of unflattering accusations about your salons. The most famous being the claim that Unis Beauty Salon was pouring generic shampoo into bottles of Peophin Shampoo, and then selling the bottles at full price. Is there any truth to this allegation, or is it just a nasty rumour?
FABIANA: Well Maria, I can’t tell you how angry I was when I heard that one. Peophin Shampoo is made from an old family recipe of mine, passed down to me from my dear old grandmother. So I have to admit, when I first heard people saying such things about Peophin Shampoo, I was certain that it must’ve been one of our competitors, trying to get the upper hand by spreading lies about us.
Sadly, when we investigated this claim for ourselves, I was stunned to find out that it was actually true. Now keep in mind, we have over 150 salons throughout Neopia, so sometimes it can be difficult to keep track of what everyone’s doing. But yes, we found out that, in two or three of our salons, employees had been replacing Peophin Shampoo with generic shampoo, and selling it for full price. But rest assured, we were able to swiftly root out those responsible for this hoax, and I’m glad to say that they were immediately fired.
BLUMAROONO: Now another rumour we’ve heard is that, supposedly, profits from Unis Beauty Salon were used to fund Dr. Sloth’s campaign in The Lost Desert. Fabiana, tell us it isn’t so?!?
FABIANA: Maria, darling… that’s the most preposterous thing I’ve ever heard! But, for the record, it’s 1000% absolutely untrue. Sheesh! Now I’ve heard them all…
KAUVUTO: Well, that’s all the time we have today. For Fabiana Kotzencraft and Maria Blumaroono, this is Neil Kauvuto saying thank you and so long….
