The Neopian Times Week 12 > Neomarket Report

The Neo-Market Report

Yet again, it’s time once more to drop in on Neopia’s leading financial forecasters. Joining our hosts this week will be King Roo, CEO and Chairman of Dice-A-Roo Industries, PLC., who’ll be here to discuss the latest events in his feud with Bob the Blumaroo of Bob’s Big Bonus Bingo. And now, here are Neil and Maria…

KAUVUTO: Hello and thank you for joining us this week at The Neo-Market Report. I’m your host Neil Kauvuto, Financial Editor of The Neopian Times, and as always I am joined by my co-host, the one and only Maria Blumaroono, who’s at the News Desk with the latest word from the floor of the exchange. Maria, what seems to be the big story today?

BLUMAROONO: Well Neil, the recovery of the Neopian economy is continuing right on course. With the service industry starting to benefit from this latest round of prosperity, it looks as if Neopians have begun spending their NP much more liberally than they did just a few months ago. Leading the way among those turning a profit is Balthazar’s Faerie Bottling, who has seen their stock rise an impressive eighteen NPs a share after Hans Usul of The Kacheek Fund upgraded their status from “Market Perform” to “Buy” earlier in the week.

Another company having a great week was Peophin Water Parks, who’ve built quite a buzz around the return of their Neopian Extravaganza on Ice. After last year’s disappointing effort, a new team of choreographers was brought in to make the show better, and word has it that rehearsals have gone off without a hitch, making this one of the must-see shows of the winter season. According to Peona Fontleby, artistic director for Peophin Water Parks, “Our new choreographers have really made the difference this year. We’ve got quite a show in store for everyone, so be sure to come out… I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!”

KAUVUTO: On the other hand, one company having a rough time this week was Unis Beauty Salon, whose value dropped seven NPs a share. Apparently, orders to sell flooded the floor after some negative rumours about Unis Salon began to surface, rumours that were confirmed by the release of a scathing investigative report on Thursday afternoon. The report claimed, among other things, that Unis Beauty Salon was pouring generic shampoo into bottles of Peophin Shampoo, and then selling the bottles for full price. Almost immediately, Unis Salon President Fabiana Kotzencraft refuted the charges, saying they were “absolutely untrue,” and that Unis Beauty Salon would, “ get to the bottom of this, and find out who’s responsible for these lies.”

Joining us on The Neo-Market Report this week is the CEO and Chairman of Dice-A-Roo Industries, PLC., His Majesty King Roo. Thank you for coming all the way from Roo Island to visit us today, your Highness…

KING ROO: Thank you, Neil. I’m glad to be here on such a wonderful day…

KAUVUTO: Indeed, what a day, and for that matter, what a week it’s been… Dice-A-Roo’s stock has gone up seven NPs a share, while the stock of your rival Bob’s Big Bonus Bingo has fallen twelve points.

KING ROO: What can I say? It looks like Neopians have made their choice, clearly preferring Dice-A-Roo over Bob’s Bingo… although, I’d like to point out that those of us on Roo Island have known Dice-A-Roo was a much better game for years; it’s just nice to see the rest of Neopia finally starting to catch up with us.

BLUMAROONO: Ouch! Now, I recall that when Bob the Blumaroo visited us some months ago, we got the impression that the rivalry between you guys was a thing of the past; but it looks like that’s not really the case…

KING ROO: Well, I’ll put it like this… there was a time, especially when he leeching off of the good folks of Roo Island and not paying his taxes, that Bob and I were enemies. However, I’d say that we’re on much better terms now; I no longer consider Bob to be my “enemy,” although I would admit that we still have our differences, and that, yes, due to the fact that our companies compete against each other, I’d say that we’re still “rivals.”

KAUVUTO: In your opinion, what do you see as the biggest factor in your recent success, and why do you think Bob’s having such a hard time?

KING ROO: Neil, here’s the way I see it; Dice-A-Roo is good, wholesome entertainment that everyone can enjoy, so of course its popularity is pretty much assured. On the other hand, I really think Bob’s establishment began going downhill when all those pirates started hanging out in his Bingo Parlours. I mean, it’s just not the kind of environment that my friends and I want to be in, with these crazy pirate guys running around, giving everyone a hard time. But, who knows? I could be wrong; that’s just the way I see it…

BLUMAROONO: One last thing, your Highness… what’s the story on that sixth dice?

KING ROO: Sorry, Maria… it’s a secret.

BLUMAROONO: Fair enough. Well, that’s all the time we have for this week. For His Majesty King Roo and Neil Kauvuto, this is Maria Blumaroono saying thank you and so long….
