Hello and thank you for joining us as we present this week's edition of The Neopian News Brief, your one-stop summary of all the latest stories from the world of Neopia, from the snowy summit of Terror Mountain to the balmy beaches of Mystery Island. We've got some exciting new things to tell you about, so let's proceed, shall we?
Our lead story this week is Monday's arrival of The Castle of Eliv Thade, a mindnumbingly challenging new puzzle game. Help Gilly manoeuvre her way through the crazed Kacheek's castle, solving those pesky anagrams while advancing through the dimly lit passageways of the estate. After collecting the quartet of items from the castle's rooms, it's on to the crypt of Eliv Thade... where the ultimate puzzle awaits!
After the frenzy created by the triumphant debut of Eliv Thade, there was a hailstorm of hullabaloo surrounding the Hidden Tower's addition of the Amulet of Thilg, a mighty talisman that can be found when entering the manor's bedroom. If that wasn't enough excitement for one week, the following day saw the release of the Sword of Skarsden, a sturdy blade that's sure to easily slice through the toughest of surfaces.
Another big story this week was the arrival of Grand Theft Ummagine, a great new adventure game set in the Lost Desert. Stan the Kyrii is a wily thief, who barely scrapes through life by nicking the tasty fruits that he finds throughout the desert. However, it appears that Stan's reputation has preceeded him, because those pesky Elephante guards are on the lookout. He'll be needing all the help he can get from the potions and rings that are strewn throughout the landscape, so use them wisely...
On the merchandising front, there's plenty to talk about this week, as the month of March marks the first anniversary of NeoPets' arrival at Limited Too. Along with the premiere of two new plushies (blue Uni and Faerie Kacheek), March will also see the unveiling of jelly pops... but that's not all! Specially selected NeoPets plushies (blue and white Aisha, red Scorchio, blue Cybunny, red Kau, and blue Bruce) will be available at the super-low price of $5.99, while plushie keyrings will be on sale for 3.99. These prices are only good while supplies last, so if you're looking to snag a bargain, you'd better hop to it.
There was a great deal of hubbub at the Rainbow Pool this week, as a trio of new paint brush styles were released. Tuesday not only saw the debut of rainbow Krawks, but it was also a boon for the Petpet Puddle, as red and yellow petpet Krawks were joined by black Bearogs as the newest looks to come out. Wednesday marked the arrival of electric Kacheeks, while Thursday featured the premiere of island Zafaras... outstanding!
The time has now come to take a closer look at the latest happenings in the world of finance. If last week's thirty-five point gain was a surprise to investors, then this week's incredible increase of 159 points was an outright shocker! Last week we touted the prospects of four promising stocks, and... not to brag or anything, but... BOY, WERE WE RIGHT!!! All four companies posted significant gains, as Unis Beauty Salon climbed twelve points, Chia Steel went up sixteen points, The Shoyru Company climbed twenty-two-points, and Shop Wizard N-Commerce turned out to be the grandaddy of them all, skyrocketing an amazing fifty-four-points.
On the other hand, The Neopian Auction House continued their steady descent, falling a huge twenty-seven-points, all the way down to 137 NPs a share. This marks the third time in five weeks that TNAH has put up the week's biggest loss, and yet they remain the most valuable company on the Big Board, thirty-three-points higher than Peophin Water Parks, which lost eleven points and closed the week at 104 points a share.
So then, it certainly seems like a changing of the guard is in the works. With a quartet of new contenders leading the latest surge in the economy, the two most valuable companies on the board continue to sink. Will the Neodaq be able to keep riding the momentum of companies like Shop Wizard N-Commerce, or has the time possibly come for another correction in the market? We'll just have to wait and see....
