In a lush green forest celebration could be heard. This
forest exists just south of haunted woods. Here is where the world's best known
Lupe hunters lived and hunted. Today the whole pack is having a small party
for their beloved leader, Fearless Lupe.
Fearless Lupe was... well, fearless. He was
a fire Lupe. He had a small glass eye piece that he held in his right eye.
He lead a pack of Lupes that he trained and disciplined
himself and earned the reputation of a great hunter. His loyal pack was giving
him a birthday party.
"In conclusion I want to say I'm proud to be
with such a strong Lupe pack and to have such great..." Fearless Lupe was ending
his thank you speech to his fellow Lupes when....
"Oh no! The Chias are all gone!" a blue Lupe
yelled in panic.
All the Lupes gasped and whispered among themselves.
Fearless Lupe growled.
"Well what are you idiots standing here for?
Go and get them back!" he barked to his pack.
His pack of Lupes looks like a rainbow of all
different kinds of colours. They all turned their heads in different directions
before splitting up to look for their missing Chias.
"Oh dear I guess this puts the grand feast later
into the night," muttered Fearless Lupe.
Then he spotted Kalibare, a Halloween Lupe.
He was sitting on the ground with his back against the tree. Then Fearless Lupe
rolled his eyes when he spotted Kalibare pulling out a stick of celery.
Fearless Lupe. hopped down from the stage, where
he was making his speech and approached Kalibare.
"Hello Kalibare... I see your chewing on a celery..."
said Fearless Lupe plainly.
Kalibare looked up to meet with his leader's
eyes.
"Uh... hey boss," he replied in a deep voice
giving a little wave.
"Oh Kalibare, would you happen to know where
5 large Chias are?" asked Fearless Lupe in a sweet but sarcastic tone.
"Uh, which ones boss?" he asked.
"The ones in the small hut just next to us?"
Fearless Lupe said being patient.
"Oh them... what about them?" he asked trying
to look innocent.
"You did it again... didn't you?" Fearless Lupe
said with some anger in his voice.
"Uh what?" Kalibare looked around wildly.
"YOU RELEASED THE CHIAS!" shouted Fearless leader
angrily.
Kalibare shrank back in fear. His leader was
breathing heard on his face with anger in his eyes.
"You idiot! That was for our feast!" he cried.
"Well they looked so unhappy..." Kalibare protested.
"Because they are suppose to be unhappy! They
were our food for tonight!" yelled Fearless Lupe.
"Oh, well eating Chias isn't very nice," he
pointed out.
Fearless leader slapped his paw onto his forehead
and stood back upright.
"I don't know why I bother with you! I don't
know why you like these Chias so much!" cried Fearless Lupe.
"Well maybe if you got to know them better then..."
protested Kalibare.
"Then what? We wouldn't be Lupes anymore! We
would be a pack of Lupes that loves Chias and respect them! Pah!" cried Fearless
Lupe. "Listen Kalibare. If it wasn't for us Lupes the Chias would over populate
and take over our lush green forest! They are vegetable lovers and they would
eat our forest up!"
"No they wont!" argued Kalibare
"Pah, you are as stupid as those blobs! Your
officially out of my pack!" he yelled.
"But... but," whimpered Kalibare.
"Why don't you go buy yourself a bottle of Chia
morphing potion and join your little friends?!" Fearless Lupe mocked.
Kalibare felt sad. He stood up. He was much
taller than Fearless Lupe and stronger but didn't have the respect, courage
and the fearlessness that his leader had. He slumped his shoulders and headed
out of the clearing.
"Oh wait, before you go! Don't forget your celery
stick! Ha, ha, ha!" laughed Fearless Lupe and tossed the half eaten celery stick
at him then turned away.
The celery stick just dropped into his large
Lupe paws. Sadly he turned and walked through the forest chewing the stick as
he went along.
The Lupe wondered through the forest until he
approached a small clearing. He saw campfire ashes were in the middle. Kalibare
walked over to it and sat down. He just stared at it and absent-mindedly chewed
his celery.
It wasn't his fault that he liked vegetables
or that he favoured Chias more than Lupes Sometimes he though that he was a
Quiggle or a Chia trapped in a Halloween Lupe's body. He was so engrossed into
his thoughts he didn't notice a whole band of Chias surrounding him.
"Charge!" cried a voice.
Kalibare jolted out of his thoughts just to
see a whole lot of sharp spears being trusted towards him. He yelped and sprang
up and grabbed a tree branch up above.
He looked down to see a small band of Chias
that had sharp spears in their hands. They all crashed into each other and fell
into a muddled heap. Kalibare swung a bit and landed next to them.
After a lot of moaning they untangled themselves
and got up.
"Well that was kinda silly," said Kalibare giggling
a little. "Why on earth would you want to run into each other like that?"
A mutant Chia stood out from the band.
"We didn't intend to run into each other Lupe!
Your trespassing on our territory and you are our prisoner!" he grunted.
"Oh, well there is no need to take me prisoner.
I'll be happy to leave your grounds and never retur,n" Kalibare said happily
and turned to leave.
"Come back here! You must be punished for you
crimes!" cried the mutant.
Kalibare stopped and turned back around.
"I didn't do anything wrong," he protested.
"Yes you did Lupe! You trespassed on our land!"
the mutant yelled.
"Well that isn't a crime, that's a simple mistake..."
Kalibare pointed out.
"Seize him!" he cried pointing his little stubby
green paw out at him.
The band ran forward with their spears held
in font of them.
"Guys, I'm sure we can work this out. I didn't
mean to trespass. I didn't know this was your territory" said Kalibare calmly
trying to convince the Chias.
The Chias continued to progress forward. He
backed away from them. They continued to approach closer and Kalibare still
backed away. Then he decided to run. He turned and sped down the forest path.
The Chias pursued him. For a kind that didn't have a natural ability to run
they were pretty fast.
Then Kalibare tripped over and a net caught
him and lifted him up. He realise that he was caught in a Chia trap. He struggled
and squirmed but it was no use.
The Chias cheered when they saw him and brought
the net down. Then they carried him to their small village.
When they got there it was small with a few brick
huts with a thatched roofs. He saw there was a small stage. Chias of all different
shapes and colours made a crowd. Chattering and glancing at Kalibare. Kalibare
gave them a toothy smile and managed a wave.
They brought him out of the net and tied his
paws together then put him onto the stage then the mutant Chia hopped out in
front of him.
"People of Kindgly, I bring you a trespasser.
He was prowling on our lands-" he cried.
"I wasn't prowling! I was simply minding my
own business, and how was I suppose to know I was in your territory! There are
no signs saying 'no trespassing' was there?" cried Kalibare angrily.
"Silence Lupe! Don't make your fate worse!"
he yelled.
"Wait!" cried a voice.
Everyone turned to a blue Chia that was running
through the crowd that had gathered in front of the small stage. The blue Chia
climbed up onto the stage.
"You should be honouring this Lupe not accusing
him!" cried the little blue Chia.
Everyone whispered among themselves.
"Because this Lupe saved my life. He betrayed
his own kind to save me and four other Chias! He's a vegetarian Lupe and he
means no harm!" the blue Chia continued.
Everyone whispered and gasped even more.
"This is preposterous! Why would a Lupe do such
a thing! Anyway there is no such thing as a vegetarian Lupe! They are all the
same, blood thirsty, Chia eating...." the mutant Chia protested.
"Please give him a chance! He saved my life
and I want return the favour. Just let him go and he'll never come back!" the
Chia cut in and tried to convince them
"Hey I wasn't finished!" cried the mutant Chia.
"Where was I?... horrible looking, foul smelling...."
Then the village elder approached the stage,
he was a little baby Chia. All the Chias went silent. Even the mutant Chia stopped
talking.
"Do you, young Chia take responsibility for
this Lupe?" the village elder asked.
Without hesitation he nodded.
"Then so be it!" he said. "Lupe! Since you have
earned to be here in our village, you may stay as long as you like but you wont
be so welcomed."
"Are you crazy Junji?" they mutant Chia yelled.
"You dare speak against a village elder's decision?"
the elder asked instead.
"...No" the mutant Chia murmured.
"Good. Release the Lupe!" Junji commanded.
A white Chia untied Kalibare. Then the crowd
broke up and the mutant walked away cursing under his breath.
The small blue Chia approached the Halloween
Lupe.
"Thank you for saving me there," thanked Kalibare.
"That's okay, you saved my life," he replied.
"Lets sit down."
They sat under the shade of a tree. Kalibare
pulled out his nearly eaten celery stick and started to chew on it.
"So, uh my name is Gangie but you can call me
Gan for short," the blue Chia introduced himself.
"Oh well my name is Kalibare, but you can call
me Kalibare for short," replied the Lupe.
"So why do you like vegetables more than Chias?"
asked Gan curiously.
"Well I don't really know why. It's just I feel
sorry for Chias and I found that celery tasted nice... I guess it grew on me,"
explained Kalibare.
"Do you like Chias?" asked Gan.
"Well yeah, I guess. They are just as smart
as Lupes," he replied. "So who was that ugly looking Chia?"
"Oh the mutant? Oh that's just Pocky. When you
get to know him he's pretty intelligent. As you can tell he's not fond of Lupes"
replied Gan.
"And who's Junji?" Kalibare asked.
"He's our village elder. He was once an old
pear Chia but he changed his colour to baby so he can fool arrogant pets. It's
a little test the Junji preforms," explained Gan.
They sat there and talked all afternoon. Night
time he got invited to Gan's house. His parents were kind of nervous but tried
to welcome the Lupe.
When the Lupe sat at the table he was taller
than they expected and his head almost touched the low roof. Gan's parents were
really overwhelmed with the extra tall Lupe.
He looked like he was sitting at some small
tea party table. He managed to sit comfortably on the chair. Gan's mother was
a yellow Chia and his father was a spotted Chia.
"So uh Kalibare, thank you for saving our son,"
Gan's mother managed to say.
"Oh you don't have to thank me... really. I
couldn't let him be eaten," he said meekly.
Kalibare looked at his plate. It was a pile
of steamed vegetables with some cheesy sauce on top. Kalibare picked his plate
up and sniffed at the food.
"Well we didn't have any Lupe treats... or any
meaty products" said Gan's father nervously.
"Well that's okay. Lupe treats leave a bad taste
in my mouth and meaty products make me sick..." he replied.
Then he raised his plate to his muzzle and dug
into the food. He made a whole lot of mess. Cheese sauce dribbled down his chin
onto his chest and table. Bits of food flew everywhere. He made this chopping
gulping sound which sickened the Chia family a little. Afterwards he licked
the plate clean and burped out loud.
"That was great Gan's mother! I should get the
recipe for that!" he commented.
Then he noticed they whole Chia family stared
at him.
"Well, I'm glad you liked it" replied Gan's
mother a little shaky, getting over her shock.
"Do you know any table manners?" asked Gan's
father.
"Well all the feminine and gentleman Lupes eat
with forks but our pack really doesn't. But they are really civilised neopets...
in a way," explained Kalibare. "Anyway I didn't want to use your nice fork and
knifes because I could easily swallow them. After all Chias have smaller paws."
"Well yes," replied Gan's father quickly and
started to eat.
"Well may I be excused? I have to go outside
and... go," he asked.
"Well... I guess so," replied Gan's mother.
"Thank you very much!" he thanked them.
He rose up from his chair but he stopped when
he bumped his head on the ceiling. With a small moan he gave them a toothy smile
and bent down to walk on all-fours.
He headed towards the door smiling at the Chia
family. Not looking where he was going he bumped into a lamp stand. He quickly
turned his attention to the lamp and grabbed it before it smashed on the ground.
He stood it back upright then turned to give
the Chia family a nervous smile then headed out the door.
"What a bazaar Lupe." commented Gan's father.
"You mean rude!" cried Gan's mother.
"He's a Lupe! What did you expect?" asked Gan's
father.
"I don't really know. He's really clumsy. I
guess he isn't really smart," replied Gan's mother.
"How can you say that?" asked Gan butting in.
"He's a great Lupe! He's as smart as us Chias and has great respect for us.
Maybe if you got to know them better then...."
"Then what? We will stoop to their level? I
don't think so. Lupes hunt us because they are jealous! Jealous because we are
more smarter than them!" interrupted his father.
"But he's not like other Lupes!" Gan cried.
"Even if he was, he's still a Lupe, and Lupes
and Chias were never meant to mix," his mother explained.
Gan sighed and sat quietly. His parents ate
quietly.
"Why?" asked Gan suddenly.
"Why what honey?" asked his mother not paying
much attention.
"Why Lupes and Chias can't mix?" he asked more
specifically.
"Because they are different. They like to eat
meat and we like to eat vegetables," his father replied.
"Well Kalibare likes to eat vegetables!" Gan
pointed out.
"Listen Gan. It's just the way things are. Lupes
and Chias aren't meant to mix," sighed his father.
Gan slouched on his chair. I don't care what
they think. Lupes and Chias can mix! he thought.
Kalibare woke up the next morning at dawn. He
had to sleep outside because it was too squishy inside. He got up and stood
on his hind legs and breathed in fresh air.
"Ah what a great morning!" he cried and stretched.
Gan came out and stood next to his new Lupe
friend.
"Good morning," greeted Gan.
"Good morning!" Kalibare greeted back.
Suddenly low growls could be heard. Gan froze
and strained to hear what was going on. Kalibare looked around and sniffed the
air.
"My old Lupe tribe has surrounded to village.
Warn your friends," Kalibare hissed.
Gan gulped and ran off to raise the alarm. Soon
Lupes of different sizes and colours appeared out of the bushes. They formed
a circle around the small Chia village.
All the Chias ran out of their homes. Most grabbed
sticks or spears and readied themselves to fight. Gan ran back to Kalibare's
side.
"This is your doing isn't it!" snarled Pocky.
"You lead these Lupes here, didn't you!"
"No I haven't!" Kalibare cried.
"Oh yes you did Kalibare," said a familiar voice.
Out of the pack this old leader Fearless Lupe approached them. "If it wasn't
for your scent then we will never found this place."
"What! You can't kill the Chia here! It's their
home!" cried Kalibare.
"Oh I'm not killing them. They are our food
supply, we don't want to exhaust it so quickly," he said now walking around
Kalibare. "We are simply going to store them until they are... needed."
"They are not a bunch of tin cans that you store
away! These are real Neopets and they are just as valuable than the Lupes!"
Kalibare cried out in rage.
"Settle down Kalibare. If you wish to join the
Chias fate... then so be it," said Fearless Lupe smiled evilly and walked away
from Kalibare.
Pocky turned away and commanded his troops.
Gan looked up to Kalibare and Kalibare looked down to his Chia friend.
"All right Lupes! Lets show these Chias what
we made of! Catch everyone of them and get rid of our traitor!" yelled Fearless
Lupe. "Attack!"
All the Lupes ran forward on all-fours. The
Chias formed a small barrier of spears. The Lupes didn't slow down. Suddenly
the ground gave way under them to reveal a large long pit that surrounded to
whole village.
"Attack!" cried Pocky and the Chias ran out
and attacked the surprised and dazed Lupes.
"If we can't beat them by strength we can beat
them with strategy," said Gan cheerfully.
"Kalibare! You will pay for your betrayal!"
snarled Fearless Lupe and stood upright.
"Betrayal? You kicked me out remember?" cried
Kalibare.
"You betrayed us by releasing the Chia!" he
replied.
"Oh yeah, right," said Kalibare feeling a little
embarrassed.
Fearless Lupe leaped out and tackled Kalibare
to the ground. He raised his paw and swiped it across Kalibare's face. Kalibare
howled and gather his strength then pushed him off.
Fearless Lupe got up and stood on his hind legs.
Kalibare also got up and stood on his hind legs. They started to wrestle with
each other. Kalibare was more stronger than his old leader and slowly over powered
him.
Fearless Lupe managed to trip Kalibare and make
him fall flat on his back. Then he quickly grabbed a spear that was laying on
the ground and thrust it towards Kalibare's throat, just stopping centimeters
away.
"Any last words Kalibare before I slice your
throat?" spat Fearless Lupe.
"Yeah... look behind you," he replied.
"Oh I'm not falling for that..." chuckled Fearless
Lupe.
Before he could finish Gan whacked him on the
head making him see stars and fall on the ground.
"Whoa, thanks Gan. You saved my life!" cried
Kalibare.
"Oh that's okay. Come on we have to defeat the
rest of the Lupes" he said.
Kalibare punched, swiped and kicked the invading
Lupes that managed to struggle out of the pit. Soon the Lupes retreated, yelping
or growling in defeat. Kalibare picked up Fearless Lupe's limp body and gave
it to one of the Lupes that was retreating.
The Lupe took him and ran off. Kalibare was
all smiles as he returned beside Gan.
"Well done Lupe. Even though you have lead them
here unintendedly you have helped us chased them away, to ensure that they wont
be coming back for a long while" congratulated Junji the baby village elder.
Kalibare smiled.
"Yeah, thanks Lupe, no hard feelings, eh?" Pocky
also congratulated.
"Please call me Kalibare," replied Kalibare.
"You are welcomed in our village anytime," said
Junji.
"Well thanks but I was thinking to go to the
university to learn all about Chias and become a Chiaologist...."
