Hero to Zero

"I am the most popular Shoyru in the whole world!" bragged the beautiful Shoyru.

Indeed, Shoyrus were very popular and sweet. Their fluttery little wings and their big eyes were everything that Neopians loved. Tiinyy, a very proud Shoyru, despised Lennys as much as he hated worms on toast. He tried to treat Lennys like they were barbarians. He teased them and called them names. Lennys didn't like Shoyrus either, but they rather stayed on their feet and ignored the names. One day, Tiinyy looked in the Wishing Well, and smiled at his reflection.

"What a beautiful reflection," Tiinyy smiled, "not like those Lennys."

"Why do you despise those lovely Lennys so much?" said a voice.

"They are so ugly and skinny," growled the Shoyru. Then he turned around and saw a hooded figure.

"You shall see what the Lennys feel when you wake up tomorrow." Whispered the NeoPet. And with a puff of gold smoke, the figure disappeared. Tiinyy just howled with laughter.

***

"BRRRIINNG!" the alarm clock rung and the vain Shoyru woke up with a start. He had the worse dream that he was a disgusting, annoying Lenny! At least he wasn't, which was all he needed to know. What did that prankster fortuneteller know anyway? Lennys should be ashamed! He reached to rub his eyes when he felt something long, like a beak…he gasped then ran to the mirror. He was a rose red Lenny with fluffy feathers and an orange, slender beak.

"Ahhh!" he screamed, a high-pitched scream. I'll get my friends; they'll have to understand! He thought. Tiinyy ran out, screaming on the top of his lungs. Shoyrus came and looked at him in disgust.

"Pals! Hey pals! It's me, your all time friend, Tiinyy!" he cried. His friends laughed and ushered him away.

"You are a Lenny! Ha! Like you would like to try morph yourself!" they smirked and walked off. Tiinyy was left standing alone. Why? Was it because he was a repulsive Lenny? You shall see what Lennys feel when you wake up. The fortuneteller's voice thundered in his head.

"Hey!" Then Tiinyy jumped up and ran as quickly as he could to the magic shop. "Excuse me, Shoyru morphing potions…"

"They cost um…let's say give me all your items," said Kauvara. He would give anything to be a wonderful Shoyru again. He placed a large bag on the table, which consisted of many expensive items. Kauvara took a strange looking bottle from the shelves and placed it into Tiinyy's feathers. "That's the last one," Kauvara whispered. The Lenny nodded and ran off.

"Listen all! I really am the truly spectacular Shoyru! Watch!" Tiinyy said, and took a small bottle from his bag. The crowd was silent. The Lenny gripped the bottle, opened his mouth and drank the formula. It felt sensational. Vibrations. The liquid sizzled in his Lenny like mouth. There was a glow, and a noise like a cup cracking. Then the glow faded and there was Tiinyy, still with the fine feathers and the beak. A laugh broke the silence.

"Try another thing next time!" jeered Tiinyy's closest friend. Tiinyy let the bottle slip from his trembling fingers. It didn't work.

"Ha! Tricking us like that!" said another voice.

"Yeah!" joined in other voices. Tiinyy let it all surround him into a mixed up blur. Not only he was a Lenny, he was bankrupt. Poor. Defenceless.

***

Tiinyy put a small bowl in front of him to beg. Nothing was going to get worse… Clank. The Lenny looked at the bowl. There it was. Precious, wonderful 50 NP. Tiinyy stared at a blue, kindhearted Lenny who put NP in the bowl. With a bang, Tiinyy realised this Lenny was the same Lenny that he had insulted and purposely tripped yesterday.

"Thank you…" Tiinyy muttered. He never felt so mean in his life. Suddenly, with a puff, the same hooded fortuneteller appeared with a small, curved smile. He waved his hands and Tiinyy felt like he was being gently lifted and placed down again. Tiinyy glanced at his body. It was Shoyru like with fluttery wings! He was a Shoyru again!

The next day, Tiinyy became best friends with the Lenny who was glad to have a new friend like the Shoyrus. All because of the kind Lenny.
