Ixi the Faerie Ixi happened to be lying curled up on
a Bean Bag Chair with his new owner, Jane.
"Ixi?" Jane asked Ixi. "What would you like for
breakfast?"
Lazily, Ixi opened one eye. "Faerie Toast with
Butter, please." Ixi had become a great fan of Faerie food ever since his last
adventure with the Faeries.
"Right. By the way, Ixi, you've got a Neomail."
Jane handed Ixi an envelope, the address written across it in neat blue writing.
Ixi recognised it as the Uber-Air Faerie's writing. Ixi had a special friendship
with the Air Faerie, for she had chosen him to help the Faeries and taken him
out of the Neopian Pound. He read the letter:
Dear Ixi,
How are you doing with your new owner? I hope
you're good and happy. We are Faerieland aren't quite so good and happy. Well,
to be precise, Fyora isn't quite so good and happy.
You see, there's been a thief in the Hidden
Tower. As you know, that's where Fyora sells super-valuable artifacts to raise
money for the citizens of Faerieland. Well, two Count Von Roo Fangs have been
missing. Fyora's been getting really angry, because she thinks that the Uber-Darkness
Faerie have something to do with this, and perhaps Jhudora. I agree. I mean,
who else wreaks trouble in Faerieland? (Jhudora and Dark Faerie probably want
to take over Neopia or something.)
What I'm asking you to do, Ixi, is check out
what's happening. Spy on Jhudora, fly around Faerieland, whatever. You don't
have to do it if you don't want to. You can just sit around in your new home,
and leave us in grave danger, because Count Von Roo Fangs are powerful things.
We're depending on you to save us,
The Uber Air Faerie
Ixi finished reading the letter, and gulping
his toast down, he shouted to his owner, "Jane, I got to go to Faerieland!"
"All right, we'll go after breakfast - "
"No, I have to go now, alone, Jane!" said Ixi.
"The Faeries of Neopia are in danger, and they need me!"
Jane was flabbergasted. "But...but... you've
only been in this NeoHome for a week! How can you go, Ixi? Are you going to
go and leave me here?"
"Yes," he answered, but seeing Jane's expression,
he softened slightly. "Look, Jane, don't be scared. NeoPets can't be killed,
you know. I'll come back." Before Jane knew it, Ixi had flown out silently,
with his Faerie wings.
The first thing Ixi did when he arrived in Faerieland
was go to the Hidden Tower.
"Oh, Ixi, so you are here," said the Faerie Queen
Fyora, beckoning him over to where she stood. "Please go to Jhudora's Cloud
and see what is going on there. Of course, if and when you get out, report back
to me. Sounds good?"
"Yes, Your Majesty." The Faerie Queen nodded
at Ixi and he strode out of Faerie Castle.
***
Ixi stuck his horned head out of a cloud just in front of Jhudora's Cloud.
Ixi muttered some magic words, and activated an Ability that the Air Faerie
had given him: Invisibility. He hoped the Dark Faeries didn't rely on their
sense of smell, but he didn't think they did, anyway.
The now invisible Ixi marched straight into Jhudora's
Cloud. He found what he wanted--the Uber-Dark Faerie and Jhudora, talking to
each other. Both Jhudora and the Darkness Faerie was holding Count Von Roo Fangs,
and this confirmed the theft from the Hidden Tower.
"The bad thing about these Fangs is that they
drain a lot of power, but it can replace any of our Dark powers. After you finish
using them, you can't use your powers for an hour. It contains the best of evil
magic, you see. Haha, these were so easy to steal from Fyora," sneered
the Dark Faerie, fitting her Count Von Roo Fangs in her teeth. She looked ridiculous.
Ixi clapped a hoof to his mouth to stifle a laugh.
"Who's there?" growled the Dark Faerie. Oops.
Ixi supposed that the Faeries had good hearing. "Who's there?" repeated the
Dark Faerie, the oversized Von Roo Fangs muffling her voice. Ixi couldn't resist
it. He laughed, and at precisely that moment the Invisibility spell wore off
him, revealing him to the two Dark Faeries in the room.
"You!" shrieked the Darkness Faerie, the Count
Von Roo Fangs falling out of her mouth. She didn't give chase, but instead held
out a small bottle, identical to the one, which she had used to capture Starbright,
the Uber-Light Faerie's daughter.
Ixi flew away in terror, but the bottle that
the Dark Faerie held out seemed to draw him back, and before he knew it, he
was suddenly very small and inside the bottle. Even though there were no gaps
or even air holes in the bottle, he could still hear what the Dark Faerie was
saying.
The Dark Faerie sounded quite pleased, and she
jeered, "Haha, so Fyora doesn't have her little Ixi spy to help her now!"
***
Hours later, Fyora paced nervously around the room, talking to the Uber-Faeries.
"Ixi has been gone for a long time. I wonder
where he is now? Air Faerie, perhaps you should go and see what's happening
now in Jhudora's Cloud. It is possible that Ixi is in danger."
"Queen Fyora," said the Air Faerie in her bell-like
voice, "if I had to go to Jhudora's Cloud I could be in danger, too.
Maybe in worse danger than Ixi is now!"
Fyora was annoyed. "Look," she snapped, "you
are the swiftest of all of us, and you know that. Go to Jhudora's Cloud, please.
If you we just sit here and do nothing, we WILL be in worse danger than Ixi
is. Jhudora and the Uber-Dark Faerie WILL take over Faerieland. We WILL - "
"All right, all right," replied the Air Faerie.
"I get the idea." Before Fyora could retort, the Air Faerie glided out the window
in the direction of Jhudora's Cloud.
"Good luck, Air Faerie," Fyora sighed.
***
The Air Faerie used her Invisibility ability, sneaking into Jhudora's Cloud
like Ixi did. As soon as she walked through the door, she tripped over something
hard - the bottle that Ixi was imprisoned in!
"Ooh!" she cried, before she could stop herself.
"I've tripped over Ixi's bottle!"
The Darkness Faerie obviously recognised the
Air Faerie's voice, for she said, "Reveal yourself," and the Air Faerie's Invisibility
spell wore off.
Running forward, the Darkness Faerie bit the
Air Faerie hard on the wings with her Count Von Roo Fangs.
"Good shot, Darkness Faerie!" cried Jhudora.
The Dark Faerie seemed encouraged by Jhudora's
words, and kicked the Air Faerie out the door.
The Air Faerie was terribly injured and unable
to fly, so she limped back in the direction of Faerie Castle.
***
"Queen Fyora, I saw Ixi in the bottle where Starbright was captured," said
the Air Faerie, sitting down.
Fyora nodded and continued to pace around the
chamber, but the Water Faerie flew over to the Air Faerie's side, whispering
magic words and rubbing the Air Faerie's wings.
***
The Dark Faerie picked up the bottle and put it on the table. Suddenly, the
doors burst open and a brown-haired human walked in. Ixi recognised it as Jane.
"What are you doing here, human?" said Jhudora
suspiciously. Both the Darkness Faerie and Jhudora lunged forwards with their
Count Von Roo Fangs, but they broke, falling out of their mouths.
"Nice gnashers," said Jane sarcastically. "I
suppose you didn't read the shop tag on it when it was in the Hidden Tower?
It said they break after a while."
The Dark Faerie closed her eyes and muttered
something, but Jhudora retorted, "I didn't know they would break THAT quickly.
Bad quality."
Jane took both the Von Roo Fangs, and threw them
at Ixi's bottle. There was still magic in the Fangs. Since it could only be
opened by Dark magic (with an exception of the prisoner INSIDE the bottle) the
bottle promptly broke. Ixi flew out to Jane's side.
The Uber-Darkness Faerie had finished muttering
her spell. She had sealed the door with her own magic! She had almost run out
of power, however (because of the Count Von Roo Fangs) and so the magical force
field on the door kept flickering on and off.
Ixi and Jane flew out right at the moment when
the force field was off. They were free.
