Our Official Usuki Clock stroked twelve and I was sitting
on a Green Bean Bag Chair. I was exhausted after all of the events today. First
my Grundo gets arrested then...my brain hurt two much. I looked over and smiled.
My Tonu and my Peophin were curled up next to each other on the Green Sofa.
They must have been sleepier than I was; they had dropped of fifteen minutes
ago. My eyelids felt very heavy, but I just couldn't fall asleep. In exactly
twelve hours my poor Grundo would be sent far away...to never come back.
"What am I going to do?" I asked nobody in particular.
I had to concentrate if I was ever going to get
my Grundo back. I walked into the kitchen and turned on the tap. Using my hands,
I splashed some cold water into my face.
"UGGA UGGA!" yelled a voice coming from the Laundry
Room. I ran in to see Snowberry-Splime barking at something. I looked around,
but nothing was there. I patted the poor Donksaur on the head then went back
into the Den. It was only a couple of minutes later when I heard another sound
coming from the Stair Room/Petpet Room. I ran in and turned on the light. Wild
was running around in circles.
"What's going on?" I mumbled. These Petpets never
acted up! That meant I couldn't be the only one in the NeoHome. I ran into the
kitchen and phoned the Chia Police.
"Hello? I think there's a thief in my house!
I live at 1876 Dark Forest Path, Spooky Woods. Please come soon!" I whispered
as I hung up the phone. If somebody was in here then I didn't want them to know
I was calling the Chia Police. I had an idea, I ran into the Den to wake up
GoldenRhino and SilverEmerald.
"Wake up guys...please, I think there's a robber
in here!"
"Wha...a robber!" cried GoldenRhino.
"Yes, please come and look for him!"
"UGGA UGGA!" yelled Snowberry-Splime. The thief
must be back in the Laundry Room. We walked into the Laundry Room, GoldenRhino
armed with his Tonu Blade and SilverEmerald armed with his Red Frost Cannon.
I switched on the light.
"ACK!" cried the thief as he tried to make a
getaway.
"Not so fast!" yelled SilverEmerald as he fired
two, well-aimed blasts of red frost at the thief. His feet were frozen to the
floor.
"Rats..." muttered the burglar as he tried to
unstick his feet. He was wearing all black so it was impossible to tell who
he was, or even what species. He had something under his arm.
"Bubblegum!" cried SilverEmerald and GoldenRhino
together. I was busy looking at Bubblegum, from his little feet to the bump
on his ear...the bump! Slowly but surely I managed to fit the last piece of
the puzzle in.
"I figured it out!" I exclaimed.
"Huh?"
"I know who this robber is!" I exclaimed.
"Who is it?" SilverEmerald asked.
"The same thief who stole NP from M.V.'s account!"
"Who?" SilverEmerald asked again.
"Yes, who?" asked a voice from the other room.
It was Officer Cortello and several other Chia Police Officers.
"Officer Cortello!" GoldenRhino yelled.
"You say you know who this thief is," he said,
"Would you mind filling us in?"
"OK...well, it starts and ends with this Warf.
It was early this morning...well now I guess it's yesterday when GalaxyNebula
noticed a small bump on his ear. I thought it was Lumps but Petpets can't get
Lumps. Anyway, later that day we went to play a game in the woods. That's when
GalaxyNebula got arrested and that's when we did our snooping. A package came
here left by you, Officer Cortello. Inside was Bubblegum. A note said NP was
stolen from M.V. Well, we examined the vault to find out it was covered in rainbow
blotches... hey!" I yelled.
The thief had broken free from the ice and was
running to the back door.
"Hold on a second!" yelled SilverEmerald who
unleashed more frost from his cannon.
The officers ran into the kitchen and pointed
their Rainbow Guns at the thief so I decided to continue.
"As I was saying, those blotches were found on
the door. Left by a Rainbow Gun, no doubt. Who carries Rainbow Guns?" I asked.
"I think I'm starting to figure this out too!"
Officer Cortello said.
"What else...oh yeah, we found a bottle and a
paintbrush outside the bank. I just realised what the bottle must have carried,
a Grundo Morphing Potion. The brush must have carried silver paint. The thief
did a bad job at hiding up their transformation. I suspect the thief must have
bought a pink Warf, since the Warf in the security tape didn't have a bump on
it's ear," I said as I walked up to the robber. "Would you be so kind and
return the Warf to me?" I asked. The robber didn't do anything until GoldenRhino
approached with his Tonu Blade. The thief gave the Warf to me in an instant.
"What else does this Warf have to do with things?"
asked another officer.
"This!" I said as I pulled up it's floppy ear.
There was a diamond taped under it's ear, causing the bump. "This diamond was
what the thief wanted! They framed my poor Grundo, to get this Warf. Didn't
Marcie-Vella complain that the Warf should be sent to MV for all of the trouble?
Well, guess what? MV could stand for Malkus Vile, but it could also stand for..."
I yanked his...or should I say her mask off.
"Marcie-Vella!" chorused the entire room.
"Yes. She wanted this Warf to get the gem! It
was hidden by a purple Aisha. I adopted that pet but it was a bad egg. I returned
it to the pound but I kept the Warf."
"Yes! He and his partner, a Scorchio were on
the run for stealing that gem. It's worth five million Neopoints! We caught
the Scorchio but the Aisha hid in the pound. One day, that Scorchio told me
some information about the gem's location in exchange for his release. I didn't
release him but I decided to locate the Warf. I must have searched hundreds
of pink Warfs until I found the one with the bump. I disguised myself as that
Grundo and I used my Rainbow Gun that every officer owns to make it look like
I broke into it, even though I knew the code. I tried to get that Warf sent
to me but I failed...so I tried to steal it from you. I knew you were trying
to solve the case so I faked her being hostile. If she was sent away...you'd
stop trying to prove her innocence," she said.
"On behalf of the Chia Police Force of Neopia,
you're under arrest Marcie-Vella!" Officer Cortello said.

It was that afternoon when we finally got GalaxyNebula back. Marcie-Vella was
arrested and everything was normal again. The diamond was sent to the Neopian
Museum and they were given 5,000 NP for returning it. GalaxyNebula seemed fine
with being arrested then saved. Of course I didn't spend much time with her.
I spent the entire day sleeping.
