A Grundo's Guide to the Deep Catacombs by too_kule | |
DEEP CACTABOMBS - Is your Neopet a hyper little pet that drinks Purplum Mocha
and Weevil Coffee by the gallon? If so, you've probably paid a visit or two
to the Deep Cactabombs.
While strolling with your Neopet to get it to walk off that energy you might
have passed the Campfire or the Art Gallery. I'd bet 500 NP you wished you could
have thousands of eyes staring at your work of art, whether written or drawn.
I'm no master, but with my guide you'll be the envy of...everybody else who
admirers these things while de-energizing their Neopet!
The Poetry Contest - Only four or five poems get onto the site, so I
figure the odds aren't exactly amazing. But I've gotten in twice, so how hard
could it be? The award is very nice, 1,000 NP not to mention a trophy and a
rare item. When they say rare, they don't mean a 3,000 NP Light Faerie. They
mean a 50,000 NP Skunk Paintbrush! Well, let's get started. Pick something in
Neopia to start with. It doesn't even have to be new! I wrote a nice poem called
The Shrine of Coltzan only a couple weeks ago! Here's a nice hint, when writing
a poem figure out what you want to write. Once you have that figured out, make
it rhyme. I spent AGES making this one verse rhyme when I wrote Adopting a Grundo.
Eventually, I had to erase that verse and make another. Don't be afraid to do
that. Also, when writing be sure to do some research. If you're needing a Petpet
that rhymes 'three' look it up! You could choose Melvie or Huggy or whatever!
Another tip, make sure it makes sense. A poem that could rival one by Edgar
Allen Poe won't be chosen if it makes numerous references to Smellerts or Korfats
(I'm funny, aren't I?) or something of that sort. Finally, use a spell check
program! I think you don't have to ask why.
Campfire (Storytelling Competition) - In case you're wondering, I HAVE
had a story piece on the site. It's just that...Dr. Sloth sent several mutated
Neopets to steal my trophy! Yes...that's a good excuse. OK, so I haven't gotten
one on the site, but it can't be that hard! It has to make sense of course.
Don't be writing this ten page biography on Dr_Death when it's talking about
somebody doing a Snow Faerie quest. Maybe not that extreme, but just keep it
straightforward. A couple tips from the Poetry Contest carry over, such as spell
check (paste it into a program that has that ability) and don't make mention
to the oh-so-popular Neopet Jellyphante or the Hocky (I could go on forever.)
And a little bit of humour wouldn't be bad also.
Art Gallery - Once your Neopet is regretting that extra House Blend
with Cream and nature is calling, you have no choice but to ask the owner of
the Art Gallery for the use of their facilities. While your pet is...you know...you
are standing there astonished at the pictures. Well, there isn't much you can
do here. Some people can draw, and others can't. But that's what the How-to-Draw
section is for! Skeith Day is coming up so I suggest you brush up on your Skeith
drawings.
Neopian Times - Once your Neopet is feeling better, don't be surprised
if they want more caffeine. While they're chugging down Thornberry Tea and Snowberry
Tea and Strongberry Tea (unaware they'll have no sleep tonight) you could be
nibbling on Tigersquash Swirly Cake and reading the latest copy of the Neopian
Times. Look at all of the sections...articles, comics, short stories and series!
I have had an article on the site (you're reading it right now) so I am a master!
No I'm not, but I can help you. A topic is good. Unlike poems, this should be
new. I doubt the Coltzan's Shrine would make a good article nowadays. It should
be new, something about Meridell or NeoQuest II and Neopets mentioned a world
made of jelly (where nobody would be hungry.) For the comics, you have a choice.
1) Write a funny comic 2) Write one with super heroes. But there
are more funny comics than big adventure ones. Now for the short stories. You
have to introduce a character, make something happen, and then end it in one
whole page. Not easy, but it can be done! Make sure it's original though. Finally,
the continued series. You'd either have to write a little bit everyday or drink
many cups of Zeenana Cappuccino. Be prepared for this to take a few days since
it'll have to be sent all at once. Just make sure your story doesn't mention
a BlubBlub who takes a trip to the Rice Caves and you'll be fine. For everything
here, make sure you use spell check!
Well, after reading this I'm sure you just want to head down to the Deep Cactabombs
and get started on your art, written or drawn! Now, I think my Neopet is wired
enough so it's time to play one
looooong game of Meerca Chase. Adios!
Note: The title of this article is not making fun of Grundos in any way!
OK, maybe it is but what are you going to do? |
