Games of Luck: What You Should Know... by thecapedcaper | |
We've all had that feeling, the feeling that you're going
to win big in the Wheel of Excitement, or you'll hit the jackpot in Scorchy
Slots, or your stocks in the Neopian Stock Market are going to skyrocket,
leaving you to become a Neomillionaire.
The problem is, a lot of people are telling you they
are one, and they got that way because they played games of luck. The
truth is, it's almost impossible. Today we will investigate these games
and see which one is good for you, and those that you should stay away
from.
Cheat!
I like this game. It's kind of like a game we older kids play. We'll call
it, "Bull Poop" for you younger players. A lot of people play this game,
and it shows. One out of every 6-8 people have a Cheat! trophy in their
cabinet. Also, it's easy to learn, and impossible to master, which gives
it a good game of luck title. Can't play that well? No problem. Different
modes insure that you'll play at your level. This game gets a score of
9.3/10.
Dice-A-Roo
Now this is one of those games that people tell you to play, even though
you rely on a completely random system. It's very unlikely you can win
huge in it, but others manage to get pretty far in the game. It costs
only 5 NP, which can be good for the poor players. But again, it's completely
random, no strategy. It gets a score of 7.2/10.
Neopoker
Let me ask you this, how can you hate Poker? It's a fun game, and you
can win big off it. However, this version is much different. You don't
get to trade in your cards for new ones, and that can really affect your
game. Plus, you have to play against your own pet! My pets don't appreciate
that much at all. Pay out is small for common wins, and the highest is
100,000 for a Royal Flush, and that's very rare indeed. This game gets
a score of 5.8/10.
Tombola
This newcomer is obviously a huge hit to all kinds of players, even my
guild is into it! (It's called, "Courage", by the way, if you want to
join. ^_^;) It costs nothing, and if you win, you get a huge prize! If
you don't, you still get a prize, and most likely up to 600+ NP. Tombola
gets a score of 9.4/10.
The
Fruit Machine
Another newcomer to the Neopian Games, and kind of like Tombola; it costs
nothing, you get one chance a day, and pay outs are good, except they're
fruit, from what I'm told, as I haven't won a game yet. It kind of reminds
me of another slot game...Oh well, the game get a score of 7.2/10.
Oh yea! Now I remember! That game was...
Scorchy
Slots
How can I possibly talk about games of Luck without mentioning this game?
Above all, Scorchy Slots has to be the most stress-building game there
is in Neopia. And, it's another one of those games that people constantly
tell you to play. "I won 6 fairies!" or, "I got the jackpot!" is a normal
thing people say to scam you of your money into a game. The most I've
won in it, 20 NP, which was later stolen by an evil gang of Korbats that
came out when the volcano exploded. Some luck. 5/10.
The
National Neopian Lottery
Not much hype over this one, but it's good to play. Even if you don't
win, you're giving 100 NP into the jackpot, which a lucky, lucky person(s)
will take away from you. On the other hand, haven't your parents ever
told you to not play the lottery? Well, there you go. 6.7/10.
Gormball
More action, please. Even though the advertisement suggests, "Everyone's
playing it, WHY AREN'T YOU?!", you do play against 7 other computer players,
even the Fire Faerie herself. Should this game be a multi-player flash
game, I'd play it all the time! And who wouldn't like that? Well, otherwise
from that, I'll give it a decent 7.9/10.
Scarab
21
Now this is a good game. Jubjub Blackjack with a twist of strategy. Do
you know how many secret scorings there are? Many. Like the Super Blackjack,
where if you get an Ace and a Jack in the same suit, it gives you 50 points,
which is very good indeed. It's so much fun to play, too, and the pay
out is grand. It gets a 9.4/10.
Switch-A-Roo
Three words: GAME FOR EVERYONE! I totally recommend this to those who
are starting out, or those in the hole. Even at Stupidly Fast, it's easy
to win, and the pay out is very good. It gets a 9.6/10
The
Neopian Stock Market
Hey, why not? You don't have to be a wiz in Economics to play. "Buy low,
Sell high," that's what the Scorchio says when you make a deal. And with
so many stocks at 6 NP a share, it's very affordable to buy up to 500
shares, wait until they go up 4-5 points, then sell them off. Very profitable.
I check it everyday. I've even heard that stocks sold as low as 1, and
then went up to 10, but that was way before I started to play. Plus, if
all else fails, you can look at the Weekly Neo-Market Report in our great
Neopian Times. It gets a 9.5/10.
And last, but not least...
The
Wheel of Excitement
This is totally chance. Unlike it's Tyrannian counterpart, The
Wheel of Mediocrity, this game has more chances to win and more
pay out when it does. But like many other games we've looked at today,
there's much hype over it, many of which are "I win 10,000 NP in it all
the time!". It gets a score of 8.5/10.
And finally, some advice. Don't believe people who say
that they keep winning big in games like the one's we've looked at today.
If that was true, then most pets would be at level 100, codestones would
sell for 2 NP, pets would not be the basic colours anymore, and faeries
would be obsolete. Don't tell and don't listen to those those things,
as they will sap you of your hard-earned NP. I know I missed some games,
but I'll try to mention them later.
Today, we've looked at some games of chance and which
ones you should stay away from, as well as those that are good to play.
No, it's unlikely that you'll win big in the Wheel of Excitement, you
probably won't get the jackpot in Scorchy Slots, and the stocks you own
in the Neopian Stock Market may not skyrocket, but probably stay the same.
But hey, this is NeoPets! Have some fun, be a rebel, bet all your NP and
win big! |
