The Clan of Ligmoore: Part Five

Meetings At The Lenny Library
The Lenny Library stood towering above us, after deciding that none of us could translate the book, we had returned to Neopia Central from the Lost Desert to ask the knowledgeable Lennys to help us in the translation. We started up the large concrete steps and entered the foyer; ReelBigKougrFish bounded up to the front desk and pressed his head against the pane of glass. "Hello?" he called loudly, "Is any one…" Brain_stew's hand clasped firmly across ReelBigKougraFish's mouth. Still the muffled sound of ReelBigKougraFish's voice came.

"We're in a library!" he whispered, "You have to be quiet."

A female red Lenny appeared from behind the front desk, she gave ReelBigKougraFish a stern look then turned to the rest of us and smiled.

"How can I help you today?" she asked happily. I stepped forward with the book in my hands, she looked down at the book in surprise, "That's one old book you have there."

"We've come to see if we can get it translated," I explained, "We can't understand it." She nodded and picked up the phone and dialled the number for the upstairs floor. She spoke into the receiver politely.

"Hello, this is Marindar from the front desk," she said, "can you send down Ryan please, thank you." The Lenny then put down the phone and turned to us. "There will be someone down in a moment," she explained, "if you'd like to go straight though someone will be with you in a few minuets."

"Thank you," said Brain_stew, and we started for the doors. ReelBigKougraFish bounded into the next room then skidded to a halt when he found himself face-to-face with a chair leg.

"Owww," he moaned quietly to himself and then gazed up in awe at the thousands of bookcases that lined the walls.

There were many tables in the main floor library, but a Gelert and its owner, who was engrossed in a rather large volume, were the only Neopians to be seen.

"Whoa!" whispered Taba glancing about him. The lift doors opening with a quiet clunk, we turned our heads to see a blue Lenny that was emerging from the elevator. He walked quickly and efficiently towards us and shook my hand tightly.

"Hello, I believe you have a book of which you need help in translating" he glanced quickly at the book as I handed to him. He flicked rapidly through the book looking promptly but carefully at the odd symbols in the manuscript.

"Hmmm, it looks like I have a challenge on my hands." He then led us to one of the tables and placed the book open on the first page.

"Can I ask where you found this?" he said looking up at me.

"We got it at the shrine in the Lost Desert, can you translate it?"

"It is not like anything I have seen before, but I will give it a shot, though it may take some time" My heart sank at this, time was the only thing we didn't have any of, Zutore was still out there and we still had no idea where he was.

"I'll have to go and get one of my books I will be back in a minute" Said Ryan as he stood up and left the table. Taba then jumped up on the chair and pulled the book towards him.

"Swirling thing, circle, strange squiggly line, and some other thing I can't make heads or tails of. Hmmm, well, I don't get it." Taba then saw Ryan returning and quickly jumped off the chair and on to my lap. Ryan then sat back down and slammed a large book on to the table. Dust flew off of the book in all directions as he opened the first page.

"Now this book will help me pronounce it, but will not give me any understanding of the language but it is a good place to start" he trailed his finger across the page and read out aloud.

"Hmmm," said Ryan as he flicked through the pages of his translation book. "Well, the name of this book is pronounced: Farea Morn Lora Ligmoore, but I'm afraid that doesn't give me any indication of what language this book is written in, it seems the language in which this book was written is a lost language and I'm afraid there is no way I can translate it, even though I am fluent in many languages." Ryan then closed the book and picked up the translation book "I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do to help you." He then walked away and stepped into the elevator, as the doors closed Brain_stew sighed.

"Well he was a wonderful help wasn't he?" he said sarcastically "and if the Lenny's can't read it no one can, sorry Amerock." Brain_Stew patted me on the back and frowned.

The two Neopians that had been reading on another table then arose and headed towards the lobby, as the strangers walked past the owner glanced briefly down at our book.

"The binding on Ligmoore, interesting book, stupid Lenny" she mumbled and walked on. It took a moment for me to realise what the girl had said, I spun round to face her but she was already at the reception area and getting the book out.

"Excuse me!" I shouted leaping to my feet and starting after her "What did you just say?" I looked in wonder at her as she turned to face me.

"The title of your book translates to "The Binding of Ligmoore", it is an ancient clan" The girl thanked the librarian and picked up the book. Turned and walked through the glass doors followed closely by her Gelert. Taba soared past me and flew out of the glass doors after the girl.

"Wait!" he exclaimed, "Can you translate the whole book?" Taba asked descending to the concrete ground in front of the girl.

"I expect so, I mean its not that hard or anything," she said almost off-handidly. By this time we had caught her up and were standing in front of her with Taba. The book held tightly under my arm. The girl slightly shorter than me had just taken off her glasses to reveal her grey eyes; she was probably wearing the most well ironed shirt I had ever seen and some blue pressed trousers.

"So can you help us? I don't want to seem too forceful but I would very much appreciate it if you could help us out." I smiled at her and held out the book. She took the book somewhat reluctantly and leafed through the pages.

"Yeah, of course I can, have you got an hour?" she said. ReelBigKougraFish peered at the girl's blue Gelert as though he had never seen one before, he was a little larger and more muscular than the Gelerts he had seen about Neopia. I then held out my hand towards the girl and introduced myself.

"I'm Amerock201 but everyone calls me Amerock, the number sounds so impersonal." I smiled and the girl laughed.

"I'm the_lil_bong people call me Bong and this is _Thean_," she said pointing to the Gelert.

"Oh, this is ThereAndBackAgain otherwise known as Taba and this is Kathlon," I said pointing down at my Neopets.

"Yes and I'm Brain_Stew_22 and this is my Neopet ReelBigKougraFish, now we're all introduce can we get on with this, we haven't got much time Amerock." Brain_Stew was always very forward and he was right, we didn't have much time. I elbowed him in the side.

"We have enough time to be polite though," I muttered to him. Bong laughed and began to make her way down the stairs.

"Well if we haven't got much time, then we better get to my house and do this, plus your pets don't look to good and you could probably all do with a bath." She suddenly realised what she had said but didn't go back on her words.

"Well that's polite," whispered Brain_Stew sarcastically. We followed her down the path and into the residential area of Neopia Central, Brain_Stew walking sulkily behind.

As we arrived at Bong's NeoHome we all gazed at her garden, there were so many different plants it was hard to count them all, she had a very nice home and as we entered through the front door we could see she had very clean and modern furniture.

"Can I offer you some drinks? I've got loads of faerie foods in the cupboard as well?" asked Bong, Kathlon's eyes brightened at this mention of food, faerie foods were one of Kathlon's favourites. "Just help yourself." At these words Kathlon, Taba and ReelBigKougraFish all ran into the kitchen in the next room and began to raid the cupboards. I could understand why Kathlon was starving as he had hardly had any food in the past month, but the rest of them were just being greedy. Bong obviously had a very well behaved pet as he had not said a word to any of us and was now sitting quietly by her side.

"I'm really sorry about them, its been a very long day" I apologised, I then explained to Bong about the hacking and about how we had come about the book.

"No it's fine really and under these circumstances I should offer you my services and a place to stay tonight" She smiled at me and Brain_Stew and I could tell he was beginning to like her. "Right then, let's get on with this translation, your welcome to go and have a bath or a shower, you may even want to go to sleep for a while you've all had a hard day." She stood up and took the book into her study then returned with two pairs of pyjamas.

When we were all cleaned up and had eaten the large dinner that _Thean_ had prepared for us we all went to bed, except Bong who sat hard at work translating, even then _Thean_ was still with her, sitting by her side.

I woke with the face of Kathlon staring down at me. I peered sleepily up at him and rubbed my eyes.

"Kathlon?" I asked my eyes still blurry, trying to hide my head in the soft pillows "What's the matter?"

"Amerock, she's translated it all!" He jumped up and down excitedly on the Oak pine bed. "But she said to wait until you woke up to tell us what it meant! C'mon c'mon c'mon! You've gotta get up the suspense is killing me!"

I jumped quickly out of bed and put on my clothes that I noticed had been cleaned and ironed and were folded neatly on the bedside table. I hurriedly put them on and rushed downstairs, everyone else was awake but I could see that ReelBigKougraFish was still half asleep dozing on the soft carpet, yawning frequently.

Bong sat in a large chair at the end of the living room and _Thean_ as usual was lying on the floor patiently by her side. Taba hopped from the back of the chair into my arms as I walked into the room.

"Morning," I said smiling at Bong, "So what have you found out? What does it mean?" I was rather quick to the point and as I asked this everyone gathered around Bong and I sat down in one of the comfy chairs.

"Well I'll have to start from the beginning," she began "and I will have to say it exactly how it translates, which isn't very clear but you'll get the picture." I nodded and she started to read the book laying open on her lap.

"In early days of Neopia, there was a clan of warrior Eyries, called the Clan of Ligmoore, they protected the world from all evil that threatened it. In the beginning Neopia was a dark land where many evil creatures lurked. The Clan were always in constant war with their rival, Helabora; he conjured up the evil creatures in an attempt to defeat the clan and claim Neopia as his own.

"But the Clan always managed to defeat him and his plans, and as time went on the evil creatures were stamped out from the world and good prevailed. It is said that the Grand Master of the clan faced Helabora in a one-on-one battle, he defeated Helabora and the evil retreated. The only way for one of the members of the clan to die was to die in battle, that's what makes this next part a little vague. The numbers of the Clan decreased, not because they were loosing battles, but because of the new invented Lab Ray, no one knows where the Eyries went, they were not dying, they were simply disappearing. The Clan of Ligmoore was a blood clan, which means that only Eyries with the same blood could be part of the clan. This is why the Clan were opposed to the Lab Ray, they believed it made false warriors and true strength should be earned and not cheated to get.

"After a long time of Neopian civilians using the Lab Ray the need for the Clans protection was lessened and the Clan soon only existed in the outer realms of Neopia. As the clan was separated their strength was depleted and many of the warriors disappeared unnoticed."

She continued, "The Grand Master of the Ligmoore Clan lived in the Clan's cavern in Terror Mountain, after three years of struggling for survival the clans members all disappeared but one, The Grand Master remained. One winter the Grand Masters strength was failing, so he cast a spell on himself and all the other members of the Clan to be held in the Stone of Ligmoore, a large green jewel of immense magical force. No matter what plain, planet or universe the warrior would be in they would be immediately transported into this stone. The Grand Master knew that by doing so he would find all the warriors and keep them dormant, yet alive until the time of great need was upon them. The Grand Master knew this time would come and that the Clan of Ligmoore would be needed again."

I then stood up questions rushing through my head "How does any of this relate to me, to us?" I asked.

"Well, you say your other pet, Zutore. He's an Eyrie, yeah?" Said Bong closing the book carefully and walking over to one of the large bookcases in the room.

"Yes, he's a fire Eyrie" I said suddenly curious to know where she was taking this.

"Well, I've been researching the Clan for some years and there is one particular Eyrie that is mention time and time again, he is referred to as the Pure Blood, the one who will bring forth the Clan of Ligmoore and restore order to Neopia, the Faerie Queen knows we need it, and will make peace again." I gulped suddenly realising what she was saying, she continued as she pulled a large musty book from the bookcase.

"Just before the Grand Master died he transferred the clans legacy, will and cause into a Eyrie of the future, one who was worthy of the quest that would bring the clan back. So I'm thinking said Eyrie is your Zutore and that he's on his quest this very moment."

Kathlon and Taba then politely coughed and interrupted, "Zutore didn't leave because he had a quest, he left to go and find Amerock, he might not even know that he is in this Clan thing"

Bong then smiled and said, "Well, he has gone missing anyway and he is almost certainly the one of Pure Blood. It seems a big vague that Coltzan would give you this book if you weren't anything to do with this at all." I thought through everything Bong had said and was now even more worried about Zutore's safety, it was bad enough he was alone in Neopia but now he would probably be somewhere on Terror Mountain and that was no place for someone to be alone.

"So is that it, that's the whole story?" I asked, searching my mind for some way that this whole scenario related to me at all. It was crazy, there was no way that Zutore could be what Bong was saying. He was my Neopet, not some strange ancients Clan's only remaining member, how could he be? We where just one more family in Neopia, nothing that special about us, we were just…us…

To be continued....

Please feel free to Neomail me; I like to hear what people like you think of my work. I am on almost every day and I am on my summer vacation so I should have more time to come on to Neopets. Bong (the_lil_bong) doesn't come on as much as I do but I'm sure she would like to hear from you. Brain_stew (Brain_stew_22) on the other hand, has a very busy lifestyle and hardly ever has time to come on, you might not want to send him quite so many as he doesn't have time to reply to you. Well I hope you will keep reading to find out what happens next…
