NEOPIA CENTRAL - I've been playing Neopets for almost a year (YasashiiYukiko
isn't my first username), and yes, I do admire certain Neopians for certain
reasons just like everybody else. I admire owners with high stats NeoPets, one
who owns a lot of rare items, writers that writes good articles and stories...
and many more. I've come across different situations in which people take a
step beyond just admiring by sending a few compliments to whom they admire.
I've also seen Neopians trying to take advantage of whom they admire by demanding
hints or items. In this article, you'll find different situations which a Neopian
gets admired and the good (smart and beneficial) and bad (rude and disliked)
ways to act towards them.
Strong or Painted Pet
While you were browsing Neopets.com, you saw a Baby Usul with legendary stats,
you admired it and wished it was yours.
Good Idea
You decided to Neomail her owner and give her compliments about her Neopet.
You kindly asked for some tips to efficient pet training and you also arranged
a friendly match with her pet in two more weeks where you go train your own
pet. That Usul owner will definitely feel flattered and have a good impression
of you. She'll also Neomail you back for some friendly chats and helpful hints.
Bad Idea
You immediately make a Neofriend request. Then you Neomail her owner asking is
she willing to sell her Neopet for your Lu Codestone. When the owner rejected
your offer, you asked the Usul on a date with your male Neopet. When you were
ignored, you demand her Paint Brushes and battling items using the reason, "...
Since you have a strong baby pet already." You haven't receive a reply for days,
so you gave yourself another try. Then you found you that you've been blocked
from Neomailing that owner.
Shop or trade lot with expensive or rare items
So you were shopping for a Krawk Morphing Potion. There was a shop/lot that
has every single coloured Magical Krawk Plushie and every colour of Krawk Morphing
Potion. You read that owner's shop description or wishlist. When you notice
that those items were just for display...
Good Idea
You sighed. But you still Neomailed that owner, introducing a bit about
yourself and how you're also a fan of Krawks, just like him. You told him how
amazed you were to see his Krawk collection and that you'd like to learn how
did he manage to get his hands on all of them. You stated that you knew his
collection were just for display, but still offered him some worthy items and
ask if he's interested. The next day, you receive a Neomail with his stories
about each morphing potion and plushie he has. He also told you his experience
of loving Krawks. Since you're just like him, he accepts your offer and trades
you a part of his collection!
Bad Idea
You ignored them. You think he's cool so you made a Neofriend request, hoping
to get freebies later on. You Neomail him telling that since he has so many
of them, he should donate to poor people like you. That owner will surely get
annoyed by you, but he kindly replies that he spent a lot of time on those.
Then you started to accuse him for being a greedycat, hogging the goodies in
Neopia. What do you know a few minutes later? You've been blocked and reported
for being offensive!
Unique userlookup
You came across a userlookup and it was one of a kind. The colour scheme matched,
the CCS worked fit, the background was lovely... YOU JUST LOVE IT!
Good Idea
You Neomailed the Neopian telling everything you like liked about her userlookup.
You asked for the HTML codes to do the CCs and filling in backgrounds, but you
didn't ask for the codes she used for her lookup. Because you know that nobody
likes to see a lookup just like theirs. You sweetly asked her how did she come
up with such unique userlookup. Few minutes later, she'll reply telling you
how she started working with HTML, and how does her style of making the userlookup
reflects her own personality. She'll also give you some suggestions on making
your own userlookup unique and comfortable for others to see. You thanked her
and requested her to be your Neofriend because you find her a friendly Neopian.
Bad Idea
You requested to be her Neofriend, and writing a Neomail to her saying that
you think her lookup is nice and ask her for the code so your lookup would look
exactly like hers. When that owner receives your Neomail, she looks at your
plain lookup and gives herself a snotty laugh. She thinks you're a copycat that
wants to copy her lookup, but sadly, you don't have any HTML knowledge. Depending
on her personality, she will either delete your Neomail and move on with her
life, reply your Neomail rejecting you, or block you!
A guild with a huge amount of members
As you were browsing the guilds in Neopia, you found one that has tons of members,
and the guild's front page is well done, the colour scheme totally matched,
and it really seemed fun.
Good Idea
If you're guildless and you're interested in joining, you joined. You post
a message giving a brief introduction about yourself and why did you decide
you join. You posted how you felt so impressed when you first stepped in with
the amount of members, the guild's front page, and other things that made you
want to join. The members, especially the leader will have a great impression
of you because you flattered them with compliments. (Guild leaders love to hear
your reasons for joining, especially if you had a lot!) Not to mention now you
have a higher chance of receiving a promotion! If you're already in a guild,
then you Neomail the owner of the guild telling him/her that. She/he'll probably
even chat with you sometimes for your suggestions to make their guild better.
Bad Idea
You log into another account of yours, and join the guild. Then you start
spamming the message board with made up stories about how the guild leader is
cheating the members. (This situation has happened recently to a guild in the
Air Faerie Clouds.) You were banned from the guild but you keep on creating
new accounts so that guild can lose their members. Later on when you tried logging
onto Neopets, you found that you're totally banned from Neopets because they
did an IP search and figured that YOU were the trouble maker, ruining this clean
game!
A published article in Neopian Times!
It's a typical Friday where Neopets released the newest issue of the Neopian
Times. You read the article and you thought it was brilliant, helpful, and persuasive.
So you typed her username in the yellow search box and...
Good Idea
You send her a Neomail stating that you've read her article about Meerca Chase.
You told her you were attracted by the gripping lead and the well described
hints. You also asked her for more information on the "shift" hint because you
were a little lost. You also suggested that she could've added the pros and
cons of using each level such as "easy," "medium," and "hard." Then you enclosed
the Neomail thanking her for her time and her helpful article. When you log
onto NeoPets the next day, you found your question answered. You also knew that
you've been truly appreciated!
Bad Idea
You've guessed that the writer has received a lot of Neofriend requests, but
you made one anyway because you want to have a cool Neofriend to show off to
everybody else. Then you send the writer a Neomail asking her, "How did you
get that feathery pen trophy?" When she replied you saying that he earned her
trophy by submitting her article in The Neopian Times, you told her that her
article was cool but there were some points that totally sucked. She didn't
reply you because she felt offended and confused about you. You started to nag
her to talk to you, not considering there are other Neomails she has to answer.
And the next day when you checked your NeoFriends list, you didn't find her
name anywhere.
As you may have already noticed, the good ideas to express your admiring is
to send a fan mail giving a bit about yourself and a few nice words! Not only
that it encourages that person to continue to walk on the path where she's walking
on, you can also receive a helping hand for your way to success. Best of all,
you'll earn a true Neofriend The wrong way to show your admiring is to try to
take advantage by demanding items, hints, or secret recipes, or trying to wreck
their reputations. You'll end up being disliked by the one you admire. You won't
receive any friendship, hints, or honour. So be nice, and admire the smart way.
Extra - Recipe for Fan Mails:
I encourage everybody to send a fan Neomail to the one whom you admire. And
I figured out this efficient, tasty, and healthy formula if you're planning
to write one!
1. Greeting (Ex: Hello!)
2. Introduction (A brief introduction about yourself so you aren't an
"out of nowhere" fan to him/her.)
*3. Compliments (Yes, throw every
bit of your admires and compliments!)
*4. Suggestions (Your advice,
or your experiences that can help her/him improve.)
5. Questions or Requests (If you have a confusion, don't fear to ask
them to clarify it for you. And if you want some helpful tips or hints, don't
hesitate to ask, I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help you out!)
*Write very, very, specific
on the parts where a star is indicated.
Happy admiring and be smart, Neopets is not just about you. |
