NEOPIA CENTRAL - Lately, I had been doing some quests for Illusen the Earth
Faerie of Meridell. The things she asked me to get weren't that expensive, and
mostly stuff like flowers and food. But I mainly did them out of the fact that
I was bored.
Before Illusen, though, I did quests for Jhudora the Dark Faerie. I have to
admit, she isn't my favourite person in the world.
"Get me a Mallard!!" she once shrieked at me. I wandered off, pondering why
in the WORLD she would want a Petpet.
"I'm sure you wouldn't be this lazy if it was a quest for any other of my
sisters!!" Jhudora screamed at my slowly retreating back. (Actually, it was
my front since I don't trust her enough to keep my back at her)
In short, Jhudora's quests were expensive and unrewarding. My visits to her
became less and less, and eventually stopped when she threatened to turn Spirit,
my Gelert, into a Snorkle. Don't ask
So imagine my surprise when I find myself suddenly in her dark house once more,
apparently summoned.
"I can't BELIEVE you did one of Illusen's Quests!" The angry Dark Faerie raved,
pacing up and down. "Firstly, you NEVER do anything for me anymore, and I'm
running out of volunteers! Secondly, you sneak off and help that stupid green-haired
no-good excuse for a faerie!"
"Uh, aren't you green-haired?" Spirit pointed out. Jhudora glared at him while
Claire, my Lupe, giggled.
"Illusen! With her conniving big brown eyes that everybody falls for! With
her manipulative smile that everybody think is kind and gentle! What does she
have that I don't?"
I put my hand firmly over Spirit's mouth, before he could (truthfully) point
out that Jhudora was probably more conniving and manipulative than Illusen could
ever be.
"Now get out of my sight!" Jhudora screeched, throwing a poisonous lollypop
at us. "If you're looking for forgiveness come back tomorrow! I MIGHT give you
a quest!!"
"Yeah, like we would ever do a quest for her again after this. And didn't
she summon us?" Spirit rubbed the back of his head where the candy had struck.
"No kidding." Claire agreed. I, however, was thinking.
"What, Angel?" Spirit said sarcastically. "You can't be thinking of doing
a quest for that crazy woman, are ya?"
"Actually, no." I shrugged.
"Thank the Ghost Lupe!" Spirit mockingly wiped his brow with relief.
"You had one of those weird looks on your face when you suddenly decide to-
" He stopped to look at my spreading evil grin. "Oh no…"
"Yes, my faithful and never-pessimistic Neopets!" I held Spirit by his ear
so he couldn't get away. "We shall explore and conquer!"
"You mean you'll explore, and we'll be conquered by Jhudora." Spirit sighed.
"I guess, pretty much." And with that we went off for an interview.
***
"Jhudora?" Illusen's brown brow wrinkled. "Why do you want to know about her?"
"It seems you guys are a little competitive." I took out a note pad. "And
I would like to know why."
"All right." Illusen blinked. I admit I was a little shocked she gave in so
easily, but sat down in a chair.
Me: So, why is Jhudora so ticked off that people, for example me, are
leaving her quests and coming to you?
Illusen: Well, when we were kids, I had always been the more popular
one in Faerie School, hanging with the Fire Faeries and stuff. Jhudora was my
sister so-
Me: WHAT??!! How can a Dark Faerie be a Earth Faerie's sister??!!
Illusen: It's hard to explain. Let's just say Jhudora and I were born
the same time, and can be considered faerie brethren. Anyway, she was always
jealous of me because I had the better powers. So that's when she made that
little Quest thing where kids bring her stuff, and she occasionally gives them
things in return.
Me: So she used the stuff kids gave her and made herself potions or
whatever to make her stronger? (I was suddenly feeling sorry for that Mallard
I gave her)
Illusen: Yeah.
Spirit: But why'd you make your own Quest Glade?
Illusen: Well, I'm sort of a protectress of Meridell, and I need things
to make more potions. I can't do it, or else I would have to leave Meridell
alone, unguarded! I guess Jhudora is just angry with me because she thinks I'm
competing with her.
(A wind blows around the room and the Subject we were talking about appears.
Great luck.)
Jhudora: That's a lie, sister! You know you were jealous I would become
stronger! Brat! You (this part of The Neopian Times is ripped out) Earth Faerie!
Me, with jaws wide open: Uh.
Illusen: How dare you!
Spirit: Wow! This is going to be the first faerie fight I ever have
seen! (Cackles evilly)
Well, the rest of it is a bit violent for printing, and I'm a bit hazy since
one of beams that the Earth Faerie and the Dark Faerie was throwing accidentally
hit me on the head. Either way, though, I'm afraid my interview didn't help
matters much. So remember: If you're going to do quests for Jhudora, avoid Illusen!
And vice versa! |
