The Werelupe: Part Two

by faerieneggs4u

"WHOA..." BREATHED SHOYRITTIK.

"Cool…" whistled Shoyrittan. They watched as Shoyrettani trained now under 15 times normal gravity.

"Show off," said a voice behind them. The two Shoyrus turned to see Shoyraitti leaning against a tree. She looked darker than ever before, and they noticed that she was starting to change from Blue to Shadowed.

"I thought you were on a two-week vacation," sneered Shoyrittik.

"So did I," chimed Shoyrittan. Shoyraitti looked at them darkly.

"For your information, it has been two weeks," Shoyraitti snapped. "Anyway, so what if it hasn't? There's nothing to do right now except train."

"You could be getting rich, like you always wanted to," Shoyrettani said, coming out of her chamber. She was drying herself off with a super-absorbent towel she bought.

"'To become rich, you must first be strong,'" Shoyraitti quoted. She looked at Shoyrettani with a satisfied smiled. "You're still training."

"It's my job," Shoyrettani replied. She tossed the towel onto a tree branch and began to take off her weighted training shoes. "Besides, I need to be strong so that I can be on call if there's ever a war."

"Pha! Why waste your time on people who won't even recognise you after the whole thing blows over?" Shoyraitti huffed. Shoyrettani looked at her funny.

"Are you okay? I mean, you're acting stranger than normal," Shoyrettani asked her, going to check Shoyraitti's temperature. Shoyraitti jumped away with an unnatural wolflike snarl. She flattened her horn and bared her teeth.

"Stay away, you filthy Shoy," she growled.

"Hey, just because I'm sweaty doesn't give you the right to call me 'filthy'! And what's a Shoy?" Shoyrettani asked puzzled.

"You!" snarled Shoyraitti. She was now on all fours, baring her teeth and snarling, horn completely flattened and hair standing on end. Her tail was swishing madly and her eyes were red.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Shoyrettani asked, drawing closer as Shoyrittik and Shoyrittan backed away from Shoyraitti in fear.

"Never been better," growled Shoyraitti. Her snout was elongating and her fur was growing shaggier. Shoyrettani gasped as she realised what was happening.

"Did Balthazar give you any sort of potion?" Shoyrettani asked timidly.

"Yeah, what's in it to you?" Shoyraitti snarled, fangs now filling her wolflike snout. Her hair was now a shaggy mat, black and brown, and her feet were now paws. Her horn was gone, and she had two pointed ears. She howled to the full moon.

"RUN!!!" shouted Shoyrettani. The three Shoyrus ran as fast as possible to the school, but the Werelupe soon over took them. Shoyrettani drew her Sword of Domar, putting her Shoyru Shield in front of her just as the Werelupe, formerly Shoyraitti, lunged.

"Don't worry about me, save yourselves!" Shoyrettani shouted to her sisters, who were frozen in fear. Throwing her transformed sister off her, Shoyrettani hit her with the blunt part of the sword. Shoyrittik and Shoyrittan began running to the school again.

"AARRROOOOOWWWW!" howled Shoyraitti. She lunged at Shoyrettani again, who nimbly dodged her attack.

"I'm your sister, Shoyrettani! Don't you recognise me? We used to play in the shop together, we broke all sorts of things Faerie was planning to sell!" Shoyrettani shouted, dodging another attack by her sister. Shoyraitti didn't seem to hear her. Instead she issued an energy blast from her mouth at Shoyrettani. The Shoyru put up her Shield in time. However, the blast cracked the Shield, and Shoyrettani tossed it aside, knowing that it would break with the next attack.

How do you defeat a Werelupe? she thought frantically. She didn't want to hurt her sister, and the only way she could think of defeating Shoyraitti was to destroy her. The next attack sent Shoyrettani flying, and she chanced a look at the full moon.

That's it! Werelupes need the full moon to transform! she thought triumphantly. Dodging another energy blast, Shoyrettani gathered her energy into a ball, which she threw at the moon. The moon shattered on contact and turned into space rubble and dust. Shoyraitti gave a pitiful moan, collapsing and demorphing.

Shoyrettani landed next to her unconscious sister. Looking sadly at her, she ran to get the Techo Master.

"I see. So, in other words, she trusted Balthazar, yet she doesn't trust the Chosen One herself. Interesting…" the Techo Master mused. He poked and prodded at the unconscious Shoyru, who was still lying where she collapsed several hours ago.

"Is there a cure for being a Werelupe?" Shoyrettani asked worriedly. Shoyrittik, Shoyrittan, and Shoyrianta were all huddled far away from the unconscious Werelupe, thinking crazed thoughts.

"I'm afraid not. We'll just have to lock her up when there's a full moon. By the way, is there an eclipse going on right now, I thought the moon was supposed to be full tonight," the Master said.

"There is no more moon," Shoyrettani told him. He looked up at her quizzically. She sighed and continued. "I had to destroy it, to stop Shoyraitti. She would've destroyed everything in sight if I hadn't. She was totally out of control, and kept blasting these energy beams from her mouth."

"Interesting," the Techo Master said. He turned back to Shoyraitti. "We have to get her to the hospital wing, she's pretty beat up. Let's just hope the moon doesn't come back."

"How can it? I destroyed it!" Shoyrettani shouted indignantly.

"My young friend, do you know how many times the moon has been destroyed by Shoys like you?" the Master asked.

"There goes that word again! Master, what is a Shoy?" Shoyrettani asked. He sighed.

"It is a rare race of Shoyrus, an ancient race, stronger than any other Neopet race out there, and extremely dangerous if taken into the wrong hands. They have the power to destroy whole planets, and are marked by a diamond shape on their forehead. Only a few Shoy have been able to make that diamond shape turn into a real Shoy Diamond. They are called Legend Shoys, as many legends have them as the hero or heroine. These Legend Shoy are twice as strong as a normal Shoy. You are a Legend Shoy," the Techo Master explained. "Shoys appear at random in Neopia. Their eggs look exactly like Shoyru eggs, except they're normally crystal or diamond-like. A Shoy can be born from normal Shoyru parents, or they can be born of nothing but natural forces, meaning they have no parents. However, the Shoy race is, erm, was supposed to be extinct."

"Y-you mean I'm the last of my kind?" Shoyrettani gasped. The Techo Master nodded gravely. Shoyrettani looked down at Shoyraitti, sprawled on the ground. She's not my sister. Neither are Shoyrittik or Shoyrittan. I have no family, she thought, tears in her eyes. Yet, they seemed like family to me. Was I adopted? I don't remember much of my early life, so I could have been. But the others are my age, and they never mentioned that I was adopted.

Shoyrettani felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked at the Techo Master, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry," he said. He then picked up Shoyraitti and went back into the school. Shoyrittan, Shoyrittik, and Shoyrianta looked at her sadly, then followed the Techo Master. Shoyrettani flew home.
