FAERIELAND - One of Neopia's grand features is the giant hovering castle known
by the general Neopian public as Faerieland.
It is loved and popular for its many games and features, including, (but not
limited to,) the Healing Springs, The Wheel of Excitement, Maths Nightmare and,
of course, Jhudora's Quests.
Most, if not all Neopians have become aware of the Earth/Dark Faerie Debate,
which sprouted from one clash between two (in)famous faeries: Jhudora and Illusen.
This fact becomes more evident in Illusen's Glade, however. When you visit her,
she specifically says that she left Faerieland to be as far away from the Dark
Faeries as she could. Apparently, Jhudora dislikes Illusen as well, because
whenever you complete an Earth Faerie Quest, she won't let you do one of hers,
and the other way around.
The question is this: why do they dislike each other so much? I was lucky
enough to be able to interview both faeries and ask them this question. I hope
that we can all learn something from these interviews.
My first subject was Jhudora. I must admit-I was a bit frightened of her when
I went. Dark faeries have a reputation for being...erm...unpredictable. I arrived
at the Dark Faerie Cloud and sheepishly called to see if anyone was present.
Immediately, Jhudora sauntered over to my location to greet me, increasing my
nervousness greatly. I was about to ask myself why I had gone through with this.
"Why, hello!" she said cheerily, much to my surprise. "Can I assist you?"
"Er...I was hoping you could," I replied. "Um...I'm a reporter for the Neopian
Times, you see. I'm writing about the debate between you and Illusen." I stopped,
looking up. Her smiling disposition had twisted to a cold scowl.
"Oh, that," she answered coolly. "I suppose you're right-she and I aren't
exactly best friends. What did you want to know about it?"
"U-um...actually, I have a few questions I'd like to ask, if you have a minute."
I was beginning to think that this wouldn't be so bad, after all. The following
transcript is that of the interview with Jhudora. Peachifruit is me, and Jhudora
is her, obviously.
Peachifruit: So, how long have you actually known Illusen?
Jhudora: Actually, quite a while. I remember it like yesterday, even
though I wish I don't. You see, I met her years ago--yes, we were children back
then. She had a love for the Faerie Queen's garden, especially the trees. One
day, she went into that garden at night, all alone. She ran out crying and screaming,
"Leave me alone! Leave me alone!" I don't know what happened that night, but
every day after that, she wouldn't talk to me--any Dark Faeries, actually.
Peachifruit: So, she was alone in the garden, and after that, she didn't
talk to Dark Faeries? Why not?
Jhudora: She says that she met some Dark Faeries in that garden, but
that's all I know. Perhaps they did something to make her cry. She was extremely
sensitive, but I don't know exactly what they did to her. I never spent much
time around anyone else-let alone Earth Faeries.
Peachifruit: What happened after that?
Jhudora: She never went into that garden again, I suppose. Well, nothing
else happened for years. I didn't hear much from her for a while. Then, one
day she left Faerieland, never to return. I didn't know where she went back
then. It was then that I began my quests. One day, Illusen started her quests
as well. The first day of her quests went well, but then one day, she learned
that some people were completing my quests along with hers.
Peachifruit: So she stopped that. Why did she do that? Weren't you
away from the garden that night?
Jhudora: I was nowhere near it! I decided to pay her a visit one day
to give her a piece of my mind. She was stealing away people who were completing
my quests, just so they could do hers! I told her that, too, but she didn't
listen. She told me that I was the reason she left-that she hated me for some
obscure reason. I didn't take that sitting down. I decided to stop people who
did my quests from completing hers. I suppose we've been adversaries ever since.
I don't know why she went cuckoo that day at the garden.
Peachifruit: (Looks down at watch.) Oh, um, that's all the time I have...um,
thanks for joining me!
Jhudora: The pleasure's all mine. Be sure to come back some time.
I made my way from Faerieland to Meridell. I didn't know why Illusen had run
out of that garden crying, but I'd find out. Join me next time when I interview
Illusen the Earth Faerie! Until then, sayonara! |
