Agent Magnolia

by peachifruit

CRIME HAPPENS IN Neopia Central--that's a fact. When something little swings around, like a stolen purse, a missing hair clip or a chipped replaceable statuette, most of the time, people will either call the Neopian Police or fix the problem themselves. But when something serious happens, like a stolen Maraquan artifact, a missing museum's painting or even a kidnapping, the police might not be able to help.

The Neopian Private Investigation Agency, referred to some as the N.P.I.A., rests in Neopia Central in association with the Chia Police Department. Headed by the accurately-named 'Chief', It is an agency of trained professional secret agents and spies who work together to bring Neopia's criminal masterminds to justice.

One of these spies, Agent_Magnolia the red Aisha, is the most successful with her work. Whenever given a case, Magnolia has no trouble in solving it. As a matter of fact, her record is perfect. Her partner, Sys-op the pink Kadoatie, helps her solve any case she happens upon. Given her record, it's not a big surprise that she has a new case to solve almost every week, if not sooner.

National Neopian Archaeology Museum

"Come on; this way," a shadowy figure told its accompaniment as they traversed through the dark Neopian Museum. The 'Ancient Lost Desert' exhibit was silent with the exception of the two figures creeping toward a single display case containing a large, shining crystal. "Stay here while I get the stone," the first figure, apparently the leader, commanded the second.

"Who's there?" a voice inquired. Suddenly, a flashlight shone on the two-a Blumaroo security guard stood in the doorway. The first figure was a striped female Wocky who was wearing light pink lipstick. The second was a silver Kougra. Both of the culprits were disguised as security guards.

"We heard a noise in the artisan's exhibit," the Wocky lied. "Keep your eyes open," she continued, sounding so truthful that the guard nodded and walked away. The Wocky sighed. "That was too close. Stand in the doorway and make sure no one-no one-comes in."

"Okay." The Kougra went to the door. "Hey, why do we need this diamond anyway?" he asked.

"Not so loud!" the Wocky whispered harshly. "This isn't any ordinary diamond; it's a zirconium-the largest in Neopia. If I can get my hands on it, it'll be worth a pretty Neopoint, but that's not what I want it for."

         "Then what do y--"

"I'll tell you once we get out of here!" Red beams of light criss-crossed on the floor, the Wocky making sure not to touch one, knowing it would set off the alarm. Finally, she lifted the glass from over the zirconium diamond and grabbed it, replacing it with a small yellow note. "This security system is pathetic. You'd expect better protection of a diamond worth a fortune. Well, putting that aside, come on." The Wocky put the diamond in her backpack and walked out, the Kougra following close behind.

N.P.I.A. Headquarters, a Secret Location Somewhere in Neopia Central

"Sys-op." Magnolia stared down at her pink Kadoatie, who was presently snoozing on her desk. "Sys-op, wake up. Sys-op... Hello-o?" Magnolia sighed exasperatingly. Sys-op had been asleep for about the past five hours, and even having rested for a full ten hours the night before, was still "too tired to get up." This was no problem, though-Magnolia was prepared for times like these. Grinning, she reached for a pair of cymbals resting on the side of the wall. "Sys-op," she said again. There was no response. "Oh well. You brought this on yourself, you know." CLASH!!!

Sys-op jumped with the sound of the cymbals being brought together so abruptly. "MAGNOLIA! Y-you really ARE insane!" she cried, jumping from the desk. Just then, the office door flew open. In ran a yellow Wocky and a blue Aisha.

"Magnolia, are you all right?" asked the Aisha in anxiety.

"We heard this huge noise in your office and decided to--oh." The Wocky looked over at Sys-op.

"Oversleeping again?" Magnolia nodded. "I see. Anyway, I have a case for you, Magnolia. I was hoping that you could go with Natalie." He pointed to the blue Aisha. Natalie had been in the agency about as long as Magnolia had been, and, naturally, they became friends. Natalie would always opt to accompany Magnolia on as many cases as she could, and vice versa.

"Another case?" Magnolia groaned. "Didn't I just finish one yesterday, Chief?"

"Um... it was small," the Wocky replied. "But in any case, the Neopian Archaeology Museum was broken into last night. Apparently, two thieves dressed up as security guards sneaked in and stole the largest Zirconium Diamond in Neopia. They left this note; it reads:

                'Roses are red,
                Violets are blue,
                And it seems this zirconium
                Is missing from you!

                I'm surely no jester,
                And no kind of brute,
                 Just come to my hideout
And I'll give you your loot

                I put the zirconium
                In my jewel sack,
But if you don't come soon,
                You won't get it back

                That's all for now,
                You I'll hopefully see,
                Come to Mystery Isle
                By Noon NST!'"

Magnolia blinked. "Wow. Some poem for a criminal."

"Really," replied Chief. "You ought to get going. It's already 11:06. The culprit included their address here."

Secret Jewel Thieves Hideout

"Ahh, success!" The Wocky thief sat in a red couch next to her Kougra cohort. "We have everything I always wanted! The most valuable Zirconium on Neopia and soon we'll have no one to get in our way."

"How are we going to have that? You GAVE them our address!" the Kougra stated, pointing to a screen on the wall showing the view of an outside security camera. Two Aishas and a Kadoatie walked across the screen. "See? They're already here!"

"That's part of the plan! We invite them here, and once they come..."

"...I bet they're going to kill us!" Natalie cried, creeping up a staircase.

         "You're optimistic!" Sys-op said sarcastically.

"Well, I tried to tell Chief it was too risky, but... well, there's no way of knowing until you find out for yourself, right? Heh, heh, heh..." Magnolia asked with a forced smile.

"Um... yeah." Sys-op tried to play along with making Natalie feel better. "Not until you try, right, Natalie?" Sys-op turned around to face Natalie, or at least where she should have been. "Uhh... Natalie? ...Mag?"

         "Yeah?"

         "Natalie's gone."

"Oh, great." Magnolia looked up the rest of the staircase. "There are about five doors up here. Let's try all of them, chances are, they took her somewhere there." Magnolia and Sys-op traveled up the rest of the stairs and tried to open the first door. "Nope. Locked." Magnolia moved to the next.

Sys-op stood behind as Magnolia swung the door open. Inside was a giant red Grarrl, teeth bared. "AAAAAAAAIIIEEEE!!!" Magnolia slammed the door shut. Hyperventilating, Magnolia opened the next door. On the other side of the room, a Wocky, a Kougra, and an Aisha, tied to a chair--Natalie!

"Glad to see you came by," the Wocky said with a smirk. "Your little friend's here."

"Natalie!" Sys-op cried. "Who are you, anyway?"

The Wocky smiled at this question. "Who am I? Jeannie, of course! The greatest cat--err--Wocky Burglar in the whole of Neopia!"

"Really?" Magnolia looked over at the Kougra. "Who's that guy?"

"Oh, that's just Roger, my partner. Don't worry about him. So," Jeannie picked up a red Frost Cannon on the floor and jerked it towards Natalie, who let out a muffled screech. She held the diamond in the other hand. "I thought you'd come. I figured that with the world's largest zirconium, they'd send some special force to get it back. Once I get rid of you three, I'll have less trouble pulling off capers like this one if the less experienced agents are left to take me on, don't you agree?"

"Wait! You can't just fire at Natalie like that!" Magnolia cried. "Because I have my... my..." Magnolia pulled a rubber ducky out of her purse. "DUCKY!!!"

"Oh yeah... She's insane," Sys-op said to herself.

"Is THAT your weapon?" Jeannie asked in bewilderment.

"Yes. Yes it is." Without another word, Magnolia threw the toy at Jeannie, who, in surprise, dropped the diamond. Unbalanced, she fell, dropping the cannon as well. Sys-op quickly ran to kick it out of her reach. Magnolia grabbed the diamond, and upon tossing it to Sys-op, dragged the chair Natalie was tied to out of the room.

Jeannie was sent to Jail for a long while. Natalie was untied and proclaimed unharmed. Magnolia and Sys-op continue their job happily, and as for Roger... well, he was fired and fired at many times with Jeannie's Frost Cannon for not doing anything to stop Agent Magnolia from getting away.

And they all lived happily ever after. Well, some of them, anyway....
