NEOPIA CENTRAL - The link between the what? That's probably what you're thinking
right now, isn't it? And if that's not what you're thinking, well, too bad,
you're obviously some kind of freakish Neopian anomaly. Anyway, I better get
to the point. Not too long ago, I realised the existence of two intelligent,
unique, sentient trees. To be specific, The
Money Tree and The
Brain Tree. Weird huh? Especially taking into consideration that one
of them is an evil, scary resident of the Haunted Woods and the other is good,
kind being famous for being the central point of Neopia's generosity. He, the
Money Tree (if he is a he, not a she or an it, but for the purpose of this article
I shall refer to both Trees as male) is called the Money Tree for a reason,
obviously because Neopians donate money to for the Tree to take care of until
some poor Neopian comes along and grabs it. The Brain Tree's name, like the
Money Tree's name, is pretty much self-explanatory, when you take into account
the huge, pulsating, slimy mass (which strangely enough looks like a brain)
perched among the Brain Tree's branches. To make an already freaky situation
even more strange, both Trees guard hoards of items! After a while, I began
wondering if these intellectual Trees were somehow related? Brothers, cousins,
perhaps? Some time after trying in vain to gather some concrete facts, I (my
Neopet Bluefire104 actually) thought of the solution: interview the Trees! So
here are the interviews.
After taking a short walk from my NeoHome in Neopia Central, I arrived at
the circle of grass shared by both the Rainbow Pool and the Money Tree. I then
proceeded to promptly start the interview.
Bluescorchio104 (Bs104): Hi, I'm Bluescorchio104, Neopian Times reporter.
I'm here to do an interview.
Money Tree: Sure. Can you ask your Neopet to punish, preferably with a Fireball,
any rich looking Neopians that try to grab the stuff that I'm guarding while
you interview me? When I'm talking I tend to get distracted from my duty.
Bs104: Okay. Hey, Bluefire104. Can you do what the Money Tree asked?
Bluefire104: Sure, I don't mind.
Money Tree: What's this interview about anyway?
Bs104: It's supposed to be about your relationship with the Brain Tree. Are
you related in any way whatsoever?
Money Tree: Well, this is the first time I've ever told anyone this, but since
you donated a packet of Cheesy Neos last week I'll tell you. Do you know about
Edna the Witch?
Bs104: Yeah, I do in fact.
Money Tree: Well, this is how it goes. Me and the Brain Tree are brothers.
Yes, that's right, we both started out as acorns from the same tree, who I like
to call Dad. However, when Edna came by, she noticed Dad's strange intellectual
properties. She became determined to have the only intelligent tree in Neopia.
Since Dad was so big, Edna couldn't move him, so instead she burnt him to the
ground. She was clever though, so before she turned him to no more than a pile
or cinders, she picked an acorn from his branches to grow back at her home.
Luckily, she didn't notice that an acorn had already fallen off before. That
fallen acorn was me. So, after she had incinerated Dad and the rest of the acorns,
she brought the acorn she had picked back the Haunted Woods, where she planted
it and cared for it. That acorn grew up to become my brother, the Brain Tree.
Bs104: That's so sad. I didn't realise Edna was so evil. Wait a minute, how
did you know about what happened to your, uh, Dad?
Money Tree: When I was half grown, a Mutant Blumaroo which had formerly served
Edna as her servant, had watched her do it, and when he came to donate a Tami
Veggie Plant, he told me what had happened.
Bs104: Why did the Brain Tree become so evil, while you grew up to become
so nice?
Money Tree: Well, it was mostly due to the environments we grew up in. You
see, I was nurtured in a kind, loving environment by the Flower Shop Blumaroo
and passing Neopians, while the Brain Tree developed in an evil, oppressive
environment. As I grew, I felt that I ought to do something for ordinary Neopians,
so I became the Money Tree.
Bs104: Hhhhhmmmmm. Thanks for the information Mr. Money Tree. I'll donate
something nice this afternoon. Bye!
So that was the rather sad, insight into the relation between the Money Tree
and the Brain Tree, from the Money Tree's point of view. A few days later, I
trekked to the Haunted Woods to interview the Brain Tree. Due to some map confusion
(damn that shady peddler! I knew those map prices were too good to be true!),
I spent the day wandering around, being scared out my skin by ghosts. By the
time I found the Brain Tree, it was getting dark.
Bs104: Hi, Mr Brain Tree. I'd like to do an interview. Is that okay with you?
Brain Tree: Silence, pitiful human! Bend to my all-powerful will! Mu ha ha
ha ha!
Bs104: Umm, is that a yes or a no?
Brain Tree: Answer my question first, weakling. Shawn Chomby died a long time
ago, and I need to know where, and when, for my records. You must go and find
this information out. Then, and only then shall I answer your question.
Bs104: I know that one! Shawn Chomby died in 34 BN at the Lightning Swamp!
Brain Tree: How did you know that?
Bs104: None of your business. You're going to answer my questions now, right?
Brain Tree: (grumble, grumble, grumble) I believe you are right, pathetic
being.
Bs104: Are you related to the Money Tree?
Brain Tree: What is this Money Tree?
Bs104: Apparently, he's you're, um, brother.
Brain Tree: Nonsense! I am the only truly intelligent plant in all of Neopia,
dismal wretch.
Bs104: But the Money Tree said that you're his brother!
Brain Tree: I fail to see your non-existent point. I was created by the most
powerful evil in the land, and I am unrivalled in my knowledge! Mu ha ha ha
ha!
Bs104: I have a feeling this interview is not turning out like I had hoped.
Brain Tree: Leave at once, feeble mortal, before I obliterate you with my
unmatched power!
Bs104: Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!
Needless to say, that interview went extremely bad, ending with me being bombarded
with Brain Tree Splinters and whacked by a hefty Brain Tree branch. Since I
can't officially say that either of the Trees' explanations are true, I will
leave you to draw your own conclusions (though I'm inclined to believe the Money
Tree's version). Till next time! See ya! |
