Where Does the Snowager Get All His Stuff?

by tkhope_

The question had always bothered me. Every day I went into the Snowager's cave, my Neopets and I, wondering if we'd be able to sneak off with a treasure.

One spring day we left empty-handed. The Snowager had opened his eyes and scared us off. My heart was in my throat as I ran to evade his attacks. In all my fear I wondered, Where does the Snowager get all of his stuff?

It was a weird time to be thinking about where the Snowager found his items. I mean, of course, who in their right mind would wonder something so strange at a time like this? But my investigation was clear, and my mind was determined to find an answer.

I began by asking the Faeries up above Neopia. Faeries are, or are supposed to, know everything. I figured I should ask them the answer to my question. I would have asked the Snowager myself, but I didn't think he would want to talk to someone who stole his treasures every other day.

I entered the city, my mind racking up several absurd answers to my question. My feet brought me to the Light Faerie of the Wheel of Excitement. She was busy attending to a Gelert. Upon seeing me there, with no NP, she accidentally stopped the wheel on 10,000 NP. The Gelert and his Neopian partner began to howl in joy.

I gave her an apologetic smile, "I'm sorry about that."

She tossed her hair behind her, "Apology accepted. Did you come here to play?"

I shook my head, "No, I have more important reasons for coming up here. By chance, have you ever seen the Snowager leave his cave?"

"Well, actually, no. I haven't seen that grouch leave his cave," answered the Light Faerie, spinning the wheel for a striped Poogle.

"Thanks for your time," I said politely, "See you around, sweets." (My nickname for any Faerie.)

As I left, I saw her stop the wheel on "Secret Item" as she recovered from shock. I guess everyone referred to her as somethig other than "sweets."

Disappointed, I descended from the Wheel of Excitement. My heart felt liked it was knocked over by failure, but I am a very stubborn person. I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I went to a more a reliable source, which was the Faerie Queen of the Hidden Tower.

I stepped to the very edge of Faerieland. Miles below me, I could see the world of Neopia. I always hated going inside the Hidden Tower. Call me a fraidy cat. I held my breath as I prepared to run straight off the cloud and into the Hidden tower. "GO!" with that I ran, my heart racing with the fear of falling to my demise.

I stumbled onto the tower's hard floor as I let my breath out. To get into the Hidden Tower, I ran off the cloud of Faerieland, since there's no door. That's why it's called "Hidden."

About then, I remembered my eyes were closed. I re-opened them to see the Faerie Queen boredly leaning against her counter. I walked up to her, quite excited to see her in person for the first time.

"P-pardon me, miss -er, I mean Your Majesty, but can I talk to you for a while?" I asked her, amazed of how she looked so different from the pictures.

"Why of course, dear!" she replied cheerfully, looking forward to talk to someone.

My eyes grew wide as I saw the prices of some of her items, but my mouth began to talk about different things. "You remember the Snowager, right? He's the big ice snake on Ice Caves. I wanted to know, have you ever seen the Snowager leave his home?" I questioned.

She looked thoughtful, absently tapping her fingers on the counter, "Yes, I have seen him leave his cave."

I grinned, happy to find someone who could answer my question. "Where does he go?"

"He went down to Happy Valley," the Faerie Queen yawned, becoming bored with our topic.

"I kind of found that out. So, where does he go after that?" My heart was dying with anticipation.

She stretched, "I didn't see where he went, because a cloud blocked my view."

I lost my balance, for I thought she did know where he stole—or bought—his items from. "Thank you for you time, miss. I mean Your Majesty," I smiled.

Her eyes flickered with an idea. "You might want to check with the Negg Faerie, dear."

My feet were starting to ache from covering so much ground. I was ready to call it a day, but as I said, I am very stubborn. After returning to dear, sweet soil, I went to my NeoHome. I jumbled my keys to open the door.

Without much thought, I strolled into __Angemon__'s room to get my coat and gloves. He was still sleeping. "Better not wake him up," I said to myself. I closed the door quietly and went outside.

Taking the Faerie Queen's advice, I travelled down to Happy Valley. I entered the Ice Caves. Feeling cold enough to become a NeoPop, I ran into the Negg Faerie's Negg Trading Shop.

There was a sign on the door. It read, "Out to Lunch."

"Oh great!" I groaned, sinking onto the snow into a sitting posistion. I hit my forehead to express my feelings. Two Bruces passing by looked at each other as they passed by me. (Yes, I can be very dramatic.)

I waited for another 30 minutes, my hands feeling like they were frost bitten. Forty-five minutes passed by when I saw a green figure leisurely walking up the hill, holding a bag of Hubert's Hot dogs. No doubt, it was the Negg Faerie. I wondered why she wasn't wearing a coat. I had to ask her that sometime soon.

"What are you here for? Are you here to exchange neggs for negg tokens?" The Negg Faerie asked, motioning me to step inside.

I smiled as I felt the warmth of the heaters. "No, something else. I'm here to ask you if the Snowager has ever left his cave."

She began to straighten the neggs on the shelf. "I'd rather not say. It's classified information, but you seem like such a nice boy... yes, I have seen him leave. He went to Neopian High street," She answered.

"Thanks! THANK YOU!" I exclaimed, hugging her. Finally, a straight answer!

Full of new hope, I ran to Neopian High Street. On my way, I questioned travelling Neopians and their Neopet partners if they had seen a 27 foot snake pass by. Each one shook their heads, saying, "No, I'm sorry."

I was hoping that someone would know. Someone who lived by there should have known. I sadly turned around, walking home. If only there was someone who has been living in the area for a long time. Someone who would have seen the Snowager. A person—or Neopet—who was always on their guard.

"This would have been," I started, talking to myself, "a great adventure. I mean, if I figured out where the Snowager took or stole his stuff from, I could get paid a lot of Neopoints. Then, I'd donate some to the Mone-"

I stopped short, causing a Nimmo behind me to crash into me. "HEY!"

An eager grin spread on my face. "I know where to go!" Everyone looked at me as if I had gone insane. I took the quietest route to the Money Tree. I laughed, why hadn't I thought of this before?

Running around a corner, I skidded to a stop as I saw the Money Tree. A poor Shoyru was gladly accepting a bitten green apple from the kind tree. When I walked up to the Money Tree, he gave me a scowl.

"What do you want?" He growled a little, protecting his items. "I am only here to give items to poor Neopians. As you see, you are not a poor Neopian."

I tried my best to think of something to say. He would have to believe me. Maybe if I was polite.

"Excuse, sir. I am not here to take from you. I know this is for the cause of the less fortunate," I started, "but I am here to ask you one question: Have you ever seen the Snowager around here?"

He didn't seem to respond until, "Yes I have..."

It seemed as if he still didn't trust me. "He does?" Then I added: "Truthfully sir, I am trying to find out where he gets his treasures and items from." If being truthful didn't convince him, then I didn't know what would.

The Money Tree's face suddenly crinkled into a more pleasent face, but somewhat grim. "I don't think I can tell, because I was sworn to secrecy."

I gave him a disappointed look. "I understand. Thanks for your time, sir."

"Wait!" He called. "You seem trustful enough. I'll tell you what I know about the Snowager's whereabouts. Just hold these bags of Neopoints for me. My limbs can't hold them up anymore."

I held them for him, suddenly realizing how heavy they were, but I didn't complain as he started his story. His face crumpled into a glum pout. "He passes once every year. The Snowager always comes here and steals all items that generous Neopians have kindly donated." He scowled, "But I have no choice; I have to give up my items."

"Don't you try and fight him?" I cried.

The Money Tree looked down at me, "The very first time he came, I said to him: 'No! You must not take these items away! They are for the less fortunate Neopians!' He looked at me, glaring down, then without warning he attacked me with his icy blast! I was frozen, and I could only watch as he took every last item away." The Money Tree sighed sadly, as I suddenly noted a part of his trunk that looked frost bitten.

"That's terrible!" I yelled with new anger I'd never felt. "I'll get my Neopet and teach him some manners! Thanks for telling me that. I won't tell that you told me." I yelled as I ran into the darkness.

"Watch out for his icy blast!" The Money Tree shouted from a distance.

Quickly, I went to my NeoHome. __Angemon__ was eating an orange chocolate Jetsam. "__Angemon__! We have to go and pay a visit to the Snowager," I growled through gritted teeth.

"Sir! YES SIR!" He answered finishing the last piece of the orange chocolate Jetsam.

Travelling at lightning speed to Happy Valley, I felt disgusted that there was such a criminal in Neopia. Quietly, we entered the Snowager's cave. He was sleeping soundly. I really hoped he was a heavy sleeper. I tip-toed to his pile of treasure. I started stuffing my pockets with cool neggs. I crept in front of the Snowager, then yelled at the top of my lungs:

"WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!"

The Snowager yawned and opened one sleepy eye, "Who dares to wake up the mighty Snowager?"

"I have come to battle you in the ice arena, in the name of the Money Tree," I answered, already bubbling with rage.

I fed __Angemon__ all the cool neggs in my pockets. He suddenly became super strong. The Snowager seemed unruffled by this change. Rising to his full height, he opened his mouth and let out a deadly looking icy blast.

"That must be the attack that the Money Tree told us about! Deflect his attack by using fire snow, Digimon staff, and fierce attack!" I commanded, my hope in __Angemon__ faltering. As __Angemon__ did my bidding, my hope rose again. It deflected his attack, plus it added 200 damage to his HP.

The Snowager was fully awake, and his glare could kill. He attacked with an item he stole, called ice dagger. "HAHAHAHA! I am just warming up!" He crackled.

"What?!? T-t-that's impossible!" I exclaimed. He attacked with his icy blast again. It hit __Angemon__ right on target.

The attack took away three quarters of his HP. He was going to finish __Angemon__ with his icy blast. I couldn't watch, so I squeezed my eyes shut. I re-opened them after hearing the sound of an explosion. This would determine the winner of the battle.

"What?!?!" I yelled with a puzzled face. I scanned the arena from left to right, and my mouth hung wide open.

There was nothing left of __Angemon__. I looked again and again, my heart disagreed with what my eyes saw. A single tear fell from from my eye.

"HAHAHAHA! That was like fighting Punch Bag Bo..." Snowager said, then fell to the ground.

"But how?!?" I thought. Behind his body was a robot Jetsam standing there with a Digimon staff. It was __Angemon__! "You did it!!!" I yelled running to him.

"That was a piece of cake!" __Angemon__ said. I embraced him and tears were running down my eyes.

We returned with two bags over our shoulders. "It's Neo Santa Claus," a Blumaroo said as we passed by. We reached the Money Tree. "We've got all your items in these bags," we smiled.

"THANK YOU!" He said excitedly and gratefully. We put the items down, as several misfortunate Neopets waiting for donations crowded around, rejoicing with what me and __Angemon__ had brought back.

"You know, __Angemon__, we may have not stopped the Snowager for good, but at least we taught him a lesson well earned," I flashed the greatest smile I ever had, feeling like a true hero inside.
