A pet's gotta eat. Neopia, luckily, is blessed with a lot of choices when
it comes to how you feed your pet, and how you feed your pet says a lot about
who you are.
NEO-VEGANS
Neo-vegans have the most limited diet. Since Neo-Vegans do not eat any meat,
any dairy or any egg products, the Giant Omelette is not a main food source
like it is for much of Neopia. Instead, these pets subsist on organic foods
from the Health Shop and occasional tropical fruits from Mystery Island. They
are on a first name basis with Quinton. Because of their food choices, they
are likely to take supplements such as calcium since their diets do not include
dairy, an important source of calcium. At the Chocolate Shop, they go for jellies
and dark chocolate since milk chocolate items contain milk.
NEO-VEGETARIANS
Neo-vegetarians include dairy and eggs in their diet. They will eat certain
omelettes - plain, cheese, cheese and onion, and any of the ones with vegetables,
but no meat. Organic foods, as well as vegetable-based foods from the Food Shop,
can be found in their food stores. They enjoy an occasional trip to Grundo's
Cafe for cheese manicotti.
NEO-SEMI-VEGETARIANS
Fooling themselves that they are vegetarians, Neo-semi-vegetarians will limit
their meat sources to only eating fish and fowl, but no "red meat." When asked
about why they consider this a vegetarian diet, they talk about the ills of
red meat and the costs of production versus food value. Neo-semi-vegetarians
are also called "wings and fins eaters."
NEO-OMNIVORES
I would venture to say that most Neopians and their pets fall into this category.
With the widest possible diet, and the largest range of food sources, these
folks avail themselves to all the food shops and cafes in Neopia. Crude Tyrannian
food, delicate Faerie foods, and all manner of omelettes are consumed with equal
gusto. Every restaurant, from the Golden Dubloon to Grundo's Cafe, welcomes
them.
GOURMETS
Gourmets are those Neopians who choose to feed their pets only the rarest
and ultra rarest foods to be found in Neopia. Their quest for these gastronomic
indulgences, all rated between 90-100 on the rarity scale, takes them all over
Neopia. There is even a club, the Gourmet Club, devoted to the passions of these
gourmands with awards to be given to the most exalted members who have achieved
the distinction of having consumed the most gourmet foods.
CHEAP EATERS
Cheap eaters are Neo-omnivores that choose not to spend their hard-earned
Neopoints on food items. Their pets are nourished entirely on free foods such
as omelettes and gross food from the Tombola Man. Occasional treats from Coltzan's
Shrine round out their diet. They may or may not play Dice-A-Roo for food items,
depending upon whether they enjoy gaming. The most frugal would likely sell
the food won anyway.
SOUP KITCHEN REGULARS
Soup kitchen regulars are the poor of Neopia. Without enough resources to
feed their pets, the poor rely upon the kindness of strangers. The Soup Faerie
provides nourishment to their pets at no charge at her Soup Kitchen and always
has a kind smile.
STARVERS
Starvers are Neopians who refuse or forget to feed their pets completely.
These pets are in a perpetual state of diminishment and cannot be considered
happy. Whether this is by accident or by choice, the results are the same -
a disappointed, dying pet who is more susceptible to disease.
I hate to mention, but there is one other group of folks out there, whose
name, I dare to speak. You know who you are:
NEO-CANNIBALS
The vilest of vile, the cruelest of cruel are the Neo-cannibals who feed their
pets foods made from other pets. I'm not talking about cookies and crackers
made in the shape of pets, I'm talking about, horror of horrors, food MADE OUT
OF Neopian pets. Examples include Quiggle and Meerca pies, Blumaroo tail salad,
and stick-o-mynci, and other similar atrocities. How these foods were created
is still subject to speculation; we may never know their true origin. Suffice
it to say, Neo-cannibalism is an abhorrent practice that must be eliminated.
As a member of N.O.P.E.
(Neopians Opposing Pet Eating), I urge you to boycott such foods and quests
which require you to purchase such foods. Eliminate them from your inventory
and galleries. They are just plain wrong.
In summary, you are what you eat. Consider your consumption. |
