"A can of Neocola may be just the thing to get your pet ready for a new
day."
"Achyfi is the biggest competitor to NeoCola! It is the great new sparkling
drink with root extracts to give your NeoPet energy!"
NeoCola was once the indisputable champion of Neopia's beverage world. Lupes
and Chias alike scrambled to buy the drink that would start up their day. Then
came Achyfi, the "new sparkling drink" for Neopets, and soon it was war between
the two.
So the question is, what's in your can - NeoCola or Achyfi? Whether you prefer
the "choice of intergalactic crimelords" or the energy boost that Achyfi gives
is a great debate here in Neopia. The debate can go for ages, so let's take
a look at seven key areas of each beverage, and see how they measure up to one
another:
1. History
The undocumented birth of NeoCola remains a mystery, but many experts say
that it has been around for as long as Neopia has. Achyfi is barely more than
a year old, having made its appearance on March 2nd of last year.
Winner? NeoCola is the original classic and a symbol of Neopian tradition,
but as the saying "Out with the old, in with the new" goes, a younger generation
might prefer Achyfi. Then again, first is first and second is second, so NeoCola
wins.
"NeoCola is more Neopian than anything else!"
- A green Blumaroo
2. Branding
NeoCola is catchy and to the point. On the other hand, Achyfi - does anyone
even know how to pronounce this correctly? It sounds like something sold at
Grundo's Cafe.
Winner? Anything with "Neo" is sure to be a hit with NeoPets everywhere.
"Achyfi? Isn't that the new NeoPet that's being released next week?"
- A Neopian citizen
3. Price/Rarity
Both drinks are available at Neopian
Fresh Foods and at many stalls in the Market Place. A can of NeoCola, at
a low rarity index of 15, costs a mere 57 NP*, while a Raspberry Achyfi, the
Achyfi with the lowest rarity index of 83, is priced at a whopping 362 NP*.
(*Both can be found at the marketplaces, so prices may vary.)
Winner? Depends. If you are one of the few millionaires in Neopia and
like to flaunt your wealth, the rarer and more expensive Achyfi might suit you.
NeoCola and its lower price are targeted for the average consumer.
"Only the losers at the Soup Kitchen drink NeoCola!"
- Nigel the Chia
4. Taste
Achyfi comes in six-fruit flavored varieties - Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry,
Lime, Elderberry, and Banana, with Banana being on the Gourmet Food List. NeoCola
has only four fruit flavors, Apple, Grapefruit, Cherry, and Raspberry, but you
can choose from Caffeine Free, Diet, or Regular. Bonus - NeoCola Bottles and
Fizzy NeoCola Bottles are sold in the Chocolate
Factory and NeoCola Chia Pops can be found at the Happy
Icy Fun Snow Shop.
Winner? Again, this depends on your individual preferences. NeoPets
who prefer a fruitier and more exotic taste might like Achyfi, and those trying
to slim down might like the Caffeine Free and Diet alternatives of NeoCola.
"Yes, yes, I want another Blueberry Achyfi, pleeeease!"
- Plummotion the purple Kau
5. Packaging
The NeoCola can comes in a clean, attractive abstract design with a traditional
red, white, and blue color scheme. Fruit flavors come in their appropriate colors,
along with a small picture of the fruit. Achyfi sports a similar swirl pattern
in alternating colors.
Winner? NeoCola - the design's color scheme and aesthetic value contribute
to its familiar image.
"I like the color green and green apples, that's why I always drink Apple
NeoCola!"
- Ticklemint the Green Kacheek
6. Ingredients
Achyfi - "...with root extracts...!"
Neocola - "Now with extra sugar!"
Winner? It's unclear what "root extract" is exactly, but extra sugar
is never good for your NeoPet. One point for Achyfi!
"You drink some more of that Achyfi, you do more sets on the Clean and
Jerk!"
- Trainer at Grundo's Gym
7. Image
NeoCola's advertisement
shows Dr.
Frank Sloth, evil scientist and leader of Virtupets Corp., mistreating a
little Usul and happily drinking a bottle of NeoCola. Achyfi has no official
sponsor.
Winner? Achyfi. It is important for any product to have a sponsor,
but in this case, Achyfi has the advantage. Dr. Sloth, a scientist bent on destroying
Neopia and all its innocent creatures, would not be ideal for a product marketed
for Neopia and all its innocent creatures. Now that you think of it, maybe NeoCola's
a part of his evil plans? But that's another story...
"Pull up a keg of NeoCola, and set a-spell."
- Cap'n Threelegs, head of the Swashbuckling Academy
As you can see, there's really no use in comparing which is better. To drink
one or the other is all about taste, and that depends on your Neopet's individual
preferences. So whether your can says Achyfi or NeoCola, drink up and enjoy! |
