Introduction
The Cybunny is one of the more interesting pets in Neopia. It is a limited
edition pet - only 100,000 are available for adoption. But even owners of these
creatures are uncertain just what they're like and how they came into existence.
I've teamed up with my own former Cybunny, Piperai (who claims to be an expert
on all Cybunny-related things) to bring you what could only be called the Informative
Guide to Cybunnies. Piper likes to make comments, so when she does, they'll
be in italics.
There are seven sections of this tutorial: The Introduction, History of the
Cybunny, The Cybunny Physique, Caring for Your Cybunny, Cybunny Items and their
Quality, and the Epilogue.
History of the Cybunny
"The Cybunny was created as the result of a freak laboratory accident on Srekah
Island." That one sentence basically sums up what most people know about Cybunnies.
Here's Piper's longer version:
This one Skeith, Eltneg, was experimenting and trying to make a whole new
species. He created one type, a rabbitlike creature, but it wasn't accepted
as a Neopet since its personality was so violent.
So he turned his attention to a type of element he'd discovered himself,
which he called Eltnegrainium, and let his creation run wild around the Island.
One of these pets snuck into the lab and wreaked havoc in there. Some of
the Eltnegrainium spilled on this pet, and its offspring grew more and more
mutated: huge feet, flat ears, and a manelike growth around its neck in blue,
yellow, red or green with white spots. At last Eltneg had his pet, and it was
accepted by the staff as a new one, but in limited availability since we like
the island a lot.
Note that Piper likes to add things in, to make stories more dramatic, so
that story may not conform with what is now generally accepted.
The Cybunny flourishes in its 100,000 numbers all around Neopia and the various
worlds. The Cybunny's favorite world is Srekah Island, of course, but since
humans cannot explore Srekah yet, they have to settle for their next favorite:
Faerieland!
The Cybunny Physique
The Cybunny's hearing is very acute (Piper can hear whenever I open up a new
box of Neocrackers in the kitchen, even when she's in the living room - six
rooms away!) Cybunny ears are almost always white and feel like satin. If you
rub a Cybunny just behind its ears, it'll love you forever.
The Cybunny's eyes are not always closed; they just close whenever they expect
that somebody will take a photo of them. Their eyes are bee-yoo-tee-full, I
promise ya. :-)
The Cybunny's mane is part of what attracts most of their owners. The color
of the main part varies from blue to red, from red to green, and from green
to yellow, but always has pink spots around it. A Cybunny's mane is thick fur
that is amazing to touch. The manes developed after the "incident" with the
Eltnegrainium in Eltneg's laboratory.
The Cybunny's oversized paws also grew as a mutation, but I think of them
as a unique feature.
Caring for Your Cybunny
Every pet can be treated with the same mantra in mind: "TLC". Tender Loving
Care is a part of every Neopet's life, if you are a good owner. Each pet requires
its own brand of TLC, and the Cybunny is no different.
A Cybunny will do good with lots and lots of space to run around in, preferably
with grass (luckily, every land except the Space Station offers this). They
also do best with friends and/or siblings.
I think I can illustrate this myself. When I first came to muas's home
(though I no longer live there), I loved having two older brothers (Klaue and
Reizend, then both Aishas) but needed one companion just for myself. I was miserable
for two days until muas realized what I needed was a Petpet. Now I have an Airax,
Perip, and feel fully content at last. So be sure, if you can afford it, to
get your Cybunny a pet! Cy's are afraid of snake pets, but love Airaxes.
Cybunnies love chocolate, but be careful not to get them addicted. If you
do, they'll ransack your home eating all the chocolate things they can find!
Finally, Cy's get bored easily. Give them lots of toys and/or a companion,
like a Petpet, and take them with you when you go shopping or explore new worlds.
Piper loves to tag along on my daily trips to the Wheel of Mediocrity, the Wheel
of Excitement, and the Healing Springs.
Cybunny Items and their Quality
Here's what, I believe, is a full listing of all Cybunny items on the market
today.
Cybunny Care is the book devoted to Cybunnies. Basically, it's an expanded
version of the "Caring for Your Cybunny" section of the tutorial above. Cybunnies
love reading about themselves, but it can be costly.
The Cybunny has their own ice totem! When the Winter World required a toll,
you'd need one of these (or a Shoyru/Aisha/etc. ice totem) to get in. Piper
loved her totem, but we had to keep it in the refrigerator or else it would
have melted!
The color leaked out of the Reject Cybunny Toys and they had to be recalled,
but some owners kept theirs and it's now a valuable item. These are four Cybunny
plushies, red, yellow, green, and blue. Oh, the green ones aren't waterpoof,
so Flotsams beware!
Epilogue
Yay! muas let me do the Epiloggy thingamajigger! Well, I don't know what
an eppyzigger is so I guess it means the ending since nothing is coming after
it. I hope you enjoyed the Tutorial and it maybe inspired you to get your own
Cybunny.
