The Fine Line 2: Dreamer's End (vol. 1) - Part Two

by gundamblaze

Episode III: Captured by the Fiend
We all stood there, helpless. We were afraid that this was going to be our final moment.

"Agers, all of you use Fireball!" The four Agers put their heads up into the air, and prepared to scorch all of our NeoPets into oblivion. That was when we saw that strange Zafara appear behind the enemy. He rammed the boy, and took his NeoP0rt. After bashing it a few times, the enemy's NeoP0rt was disabled, and ours were turned back on.

"Okay, time to finish this fight! Orichalkon, Weaponize activate!" Orichalkon was engulfed in light, and when it had vanished, he was covered in the same titanium armour that he had worn during the battle with Kisei. "Yes! Now we can use the Level 4 NeoWeapon!" I looked over my shoulder to see what the others were doing. Sakari was performing a NeoPet Lookup on the Zafara.

"Starry Male Zafara... hey! That's mine!" We all gasped. That thing that was trying to get through was trying to make it to Sakari! I came back to reality when the icy blast of an Ager slid across my arm, giving me an instant frostbite and a load of brutal pain. Enough to almost make me pass out.

"That... hurt," I murmured. "Okay, let's do this! Level 4 NeoWeapon activate!" All the plates in Orichalkon's armour opened up, revealing loads of rockets and guns. "RENSHA NOROSHI!" Orichalkon roared as a barrage of pure firepower was blasted at the Agers. One more was taken out, leaving three more. The pain in my right arm got the best of me, and I collapsed in pain. I was able to murmur out, "Defeat them, then worry about me," before I had hit the ground.

"Level 3 NeoWeapon activate, Kyoutan!" Kyoutan was in referral to the Zafara.

Kyoutan's eyes turned completely black, and a barrage of stones came out of the sky, barraging down on another Ager. Two more to go. And with Kage gone after the boy, they were left to Wille and Ryo.

"Let's beat them!" exclaimed Willie.

"I'm with you!" yelled Ryo. They both yelled, "Level 3 NeoWeapon activate!" SnowOhki jumped up and cast her Hora-Gyou, while Cubix slashed with the Nekuri Setsudanki. That was all the Agers. It was obvious that our NeoPets had become stronger. Meanwhile, Kage was fighting with the boy at the top, and oddly losing. In fact, every hit Kage made seemed to have no effect. The kid didn't even need to fight back.

"Oh please," the boy said, and knocked Kage off the side of the cliff. Ritsuzen promptly caught him. "Hmphf, not bad!" he scoffed at us. "But this was only a fraction of my power. Soon you will see the full force of my strength!" He held out his NeoP0rt. "Neopia Transport activate!" The boy started glowing, and vanished into thin air. Then all of my friends ran to my aid.

"Brad! Are you okay?" Sakari asked. I slowly got up.

"Just... a little cold," I said as I forced a smile on my face. Just then Kyoutan walked up to Sakari. "Hey Sakari, why don't we use my Level 2 NeoWeapon?" Sakari complied, and held out her NeoP0rt. "Level 2 NeoWeapon activate! Soudai Chiyu!" Kyoutan shot a beam at where the wound was, and all the others gasped. But, it didn't hurt. In fact, it completely healed it.

"That's a nice little ability there," I said. Orichalkon had just reverted back to his normal stage. We were all ready to rejoice over our reunion and another battle won. But the battle hadn't been won yet. The enemy we thought we had just defeated appeared behind us.

"Ha! I can't believe you thought I had run away! I never flee a fight!" It appeared this boy had harnessed the same powers as Kage, as he ripped a never-ending hole in the sky. We found ourselves being sucked into the giant warp-hole. We tried as hard as we could to fight it, but we weren't strong enough.

***

"Oh man... my head hurts," I said as I opened my eyes, only to see the unwelcoming image of a prison cell. All the others were in there with me, with Sakari on my chest. Too bad she had to go and wake up.

"Ugh... that little runt," said Sakari. "When I find him I'm gonna..." Just then the whole corridor shook. Everyone woke up.

"What was that!?" Willie exclaimed as he got up. Just then, the wall to our right broke through, revealing a massive black dinosaur. I took out my NeoP0rt and performed a NeoPet Lookup.

"Searching... searching... object not found. Hey guys, this thing isn't a NeoPet, it's a full fledged demon!" They all gasped at the thought. Then, I heard a NeoP0rt beeping. I turned around to see Ryo holding out a glowing NeoP0rt.

"Now it's my turn, Brad!" Ryo said to me. I had no idea what he was talking about. That is until he held out his NeoP0rt. "SnowOhki, Weaponize activate!" SnowOhki was engulfed in light, which quickly vanished. What emerged from the light was SnowOhki Weaponized, with blonde hair, longer wings, two crystal daggers, and tribal-looking anklets and wristbands.

"You're dead, dino boy," muttered SnowOhki. Ryo was ready to test the full limits of the Weaponized SnowOhki.

"Come on SnowOhki, let's do this! Level 4 NeoWeapon activate!" SnowOhki charged at the demon, and called out, "Kouseki Kyouran!" The speed that SnowOhki was now moving at was hard to see. She jumped around the dinosaur, slashing away.

"This thing's strong," I said. "Orichalkon, Weaponize activate!" Orichalkon quickly suited up, and went to join SnowOhki in the fight. The others just stood by, knowing that only the Weaponized NeoPets would stand a chance.

Ryo and I were busily activating NeoWeapons over and over again, while the NeoPets fought on and on. That is until a second dinosaur paved a warpath right to me, pinning me up against the wall with it's claws.

"Brad!" Orichalkon gasped out as he stopped fighting and ran over to me. As the air circulating through me was already beginning to stop, I prepared myself for the worst. I wasn't going to last much longer. Just then, I looked down at my NeoP0rt. "Level 2 Weaponize," it said. I frantically tried to reach the button, and I eventually did.

Orichalkon was surrounded by a heavy light, and started to float into the air. He reverted back to his normal stage, which I thought was a bad thing. Orichalkon's eyes seemed filled with anger and blood-thirst. Just then, a beam of light shot down from the sky, and the words I came from Orichalkon's mouth puzzled me. "Senka Mode Weaponize!!!"

Episode IV: Our Next War!
Orichalkon was absorbed into the light, and then golden beams of energy flew into the great tunnel of light that Orichalkon was surrounded in. When Orichalkon emerged I was amazed. He was wearing a golden set of dual-claws almost four feet long. He had jet-black hair, a golden-armoured set of wings, and a golden set of boots. Orichalkon called out, "Senka Weapon Orichalkon!" With something like this on our side, we stood a great chance. Orichalkon slashed the demon, releasing me of it's massive claws. I took out my NeoP0rt, only to notice that the Level 5 NeoWeapon had been activated. "Orichalkon!" I yelled out. "Level 5 NeoWeapon activate!"

Orichalkon's massive steel claws began to glow, and he jumped at the dinosaur I had just been released from. He yelled out the incantation, "Gurando Toukai!" It must have been a million rays of light that shot out of the claws, making the dinosaur disintegrate into blue light. Orichalkon evilly glared at the remaining demon, but Ritsuzen, Kyoutan, ShowOhki, and Cubix seemed to have it covered.

All the NeoPets had activated their NeoWeapons at once, and the remaining dinosaur was defeated.

"What... was... that... about?" asked Sakari. Of course, her guess was as good as ours. We all agreed on getting out of there, without having to say a word. SnowOhki and Orichalkon had reverted back to their normal forms, and we were on our way. It was easy to make it through the cell gates, as the dinos had broken them down completely It was then that a strange hologram of the boy appeared in front of us.

"Hmphf. Not bad, especially with your little pet's new ability," the boy said, mocking us. Orichalkon simply snarled at him. "Down boy. Anyway, I've just come to warn you of your demise. I've loaded these dungeons with traps, there is no escape. Your best bet is to stay still and live longer. Good bye!" His hologram disappeared as the evil laughter came to a halt.

"I don't like the look of this," Kyoutan said. He said what we were all thinking. The mere dreariness of the atmosphere was enough to crush my hopes. As we walked towards the stairs, I found a piece of paper on the floor. I picked it up. It read:

This dungeon contains 5 floors, excluding the one you are on now. For each task you complete, two of you, User and NeoPet, will be spared.

--Malum, future ruler of Neopia

"This guy is just toying with us!" I exclaimed. He just wanted us to suffer from much torment and anguish, to make us create our own flaws. Unfortunately for Malum, that was not the case. We had quickly moved our way up to the first trap. It was a large room with a mirror in it. A loud, ominous voice could be heard.

"Pick one human and one NeoPet to step forward to fight their greatest adversary." I forced Sakari to go. I wasn't afraid of the test; I wanted her to get out first.

"Come on Sakari... you go first," I said.

"WHAT!? Why me!?" she yelled.

"Because I want you to get out of here first."

"Yeah, whatever." She acted like I was just afraid, but I could tell she knew that I really did want her safe. She stepped forward into the room, and turned around startled as a thick glass door shot down, separating us. Sakari was on her own now.

"Okay Malum, what do you have in store for me!?" Sakari yelled out. Just then, something unbelievable happened. Sakari was in the mirror, but it was her Mitsukai form we had fought when she was possessed by Kisei, rod and all. And Kyoutan wasn't by her side. Sansensa was. And it got even worse. The mirror shattered, leaving Mitsukai and Sansensa standing there.

"Sakari, stand strong!" I yelled out to her. I was unsure about what kind of chance that she stood, but I was by her in spirit.

Sakari was dodging Mitsukai's attacks, while Kyoutan desperately tried to evade Sansensa's massive dives an Majutsu Bakudan attacks. I could barely stand to watch the horror, and when Kokushibyou Kusari was used on Sakari, I almost passed out when those long black chains snared Sakari and lifted her up into the air. I blacked out for a few seconds, and woke up against the wall.

"Whoa, Brad, is this too much for you?" Ryo asked me.

"Yeah, maybe a little..." Just as I glanced through the glass door, I saw a very small part of Sansensa's body flow through Mitsukai's foot. I ran up to the glass.

"Sakari!" I yelled out. "It's not real! Once you realise it's an illusion, it'll all just disappear!" She looked back it me, and screamed in pain as the chains wrapped around her tighter. She then focused her eyes on Mitsukai, and said, "I believe you Brad!" Sansensa then dove at Sakari... and passed right through her. Sansensa and Mitsukai then disappeared, and she fell to the ground. She had taken quite a bit of a beating, and she was covered in a small amount of blood. She carefully limped over to the door, and put her hand on the glass.

"Thanks... but I don't want to leave without the rest of you," she said. And then she started glowing.

"That's nice... but I don't think you have a choice," I said. Quickly after that, she vanished in a magnificent display of flashes and lights. Kyoutan was now gone too. The glass door opened, and we hesitantly walked through.

"So, who wants to go next?" said Willie.

"How about you. Maybe we'll be lucky and your test will be guillotine dodging," said Ryo.

"It wouldn't be very lucky unless he failed," I said. Willie looked scared. We all gave him an evil laugh.

"Guys, you're freaking me out," Willie said. We had arrived at another room just like the one with Mitsukai and Sansensa, only without the mirror.

"Okay, so, seriously, who's going?" I asked.

"I'll go. I wanna get out of here, anyway," said Kage. He stepped forward. I said, "Good luck!" just as the glass door shot down.

"Don't worry Kage, I'll protect you," said Ritsuzen. Just then, panels in the walls opened up, letting water in. The wall at the far end of the room collapsed, making the room larger than it first seemed to be. Just as they started running to the other end, a wall appeared in front of them, knocking Kage and Ritsuzen back.

"I think I understand this," said Ryo. "Kage! It's kind of like a maze! Walls will appear if you get to close to a certain part of the floor! Don't go too fast... then again, don't go too slow either!" Kage turned around, and nodded in compliance. They then carefully walked around the area, making sure they didn't hit any tricky walls.

"Hey Brad, what are you doing?" Ryo asked me, as I was typing on my NeoP0rt.

"Registering this location in my NeoP0rt... there. Let's see... Location: Neopia, [17]-[46]: Malum's Dungeons. All done!" Ryo automatically assumed I would do it for him, so he just handed me his NeoP0rt. I almost bashed it over his head. Luckily, Willie wasn't so ignorant.

"Hey Ritsuzen, why don't we just fly over?" Kage asked. He hopped on Ritsuzen's back. But it was no use, as the walls just reached to the ceiling if they got too high. But Kage remained on Ritsuzen's back, as this way they made more progress. But the water was getting higher, about five feet now. Orichalkon and I were bashing the glass door by now.

"Umm... whatcha doin' Brad?" Willie asked me.

"I'm trying… to break… this glass! Leak the water into this room! That way, Kage stands a longer chance. Look at him! He's only half way!" Orichalkon looked up at me.

"Wait, Brad, this won't really help! We'll have to make it through too!" I immediately stopped. I realised that now. This would just get us in worse. And besides, it was VERY thick glass. I was soon to realise that Kage's success was great. In fact, he had just finished the maze. Panels opened up in the floor, and the water was drained. The door opened, and we stepped through freely. But Kage and Ritsuzen weren't there to meet us at the other side. It was just Willie, Ryo, I, and our NeoPets now. And so we carefully ventured off into the darkness...
