Hello, everyone, my name is Leli and my brother, "The Perfect Shoryu", is Shaktar.
And we all know how annoying little brothers are. I never thought that I would
ever act like brothers with my brother, but you know, after this adventure that
I'm about to tell you, I can't believe that we actually act like brothers. Well,
it all started one day with me buying a potion at the magic shop...
I'm felt my body shrinking, shrinking, and shrinking into a size that even
a Buzzer would be bigger than I me, just because of this potion I bought. I
thought they were kidding about the label on this shrinking potion which says:
"CAUTION: The content in this bottle will make you small forever until you find
the 'Growing Potion'". I guess they weren't kidding now. Everything that was
on me shrank too, except for the potion.
Unfortunately for me, no one was home. This meant, being the mischievous Kacheek
that I am, I can either wait, or go around the house exploring a bit and see
what the world looks like from a Buzzer's point of view, well, maybe a bit smaller
than a Buzzer's point of view. I think I'll choose to explore the house.
Everything looked so big, the hewn stone chair, which I think is a waste of
money to buy at all, (I mean, all you have to do is get two stones and put it
together), must be taller than… I don't know the Neolodge, (of course, you know
that I'm exaggerating, or am I?) The tiles on the floor seemed endless. I think
I should start walking towards the front door, now, maybe someone will se me
if I stand near the door. Wait, what's that I hear, the sound of joy, the sound
of hope, the sound of freedom, no other than the sound of the... door opening
of course, silly.
"Come on, open the door, open the door," I said, but no one probably heard
me anyway.
Alas! The door opened. It was my favourite person in the world-my Mum... and
the person, or rather, NeoPet, I despise the most in the world... my little
brother, "The Perfect Shoryu" that have ever lived, or so that's what everyone
says. I am just sick to the last strand of my hair with him, (which isn't very
much), Shaktar this and Shaktar that.
"Why aren't you perfect like your brother is, Leli, why must you make me worry
all the time?" my Mum always says to me.
"Mum, I'm over here! Look under your feet!" I yelled at the top of my lung
when my Mum started walking towards me, but she didn't notice me, and she almost
stepped on me, too.
The person that did notice me was my brother, (I'm not very happy about this;
if I know my brother, he'll probably thinks I'm a toy and the worst days of
my life will begin.) Oh, no! He walked towards me and reached his hand out.
Then he picked me up and looked at me closely.
"Hey Mum, I just found Leli, except he's only about the size of a Buzzer,"
my brother said.
"Your brother will get mad at you for saying that, and I would probably not
let you watch any more of those late TV shows, but since you're my 'perfect
Shaktar', I'll just give you a warning. Now, be off and don't be like your brother!
And I mean it!!!" my Mum replied.
"But it's really Leli. Do you want to see him?" my brother said.
"I have no time for that. Can't you see I'm busy? Go outside and play with
your friends or something," Mum replied.
"Okay, are you really my brother Tom?" my brother asked me.
"Of course I am, I bought this weird shrinking potion from the gift shop,
drank it, and this is what happened," I answered.
"What kind of a NeoPet would want to shrink himself?" my brother questioned
me.
"Well, if you would listen, I'll tell you. I thought I'm just going to be
little for awhile to see the world from a Buzzer's point of view, it might be
fun, but then…" I replied.
"Then what? What happened?" my brother asked anxiously.
"But then, I read the caution label and it said I have to find a growing potion
to grow back!!!" I yelled.
"So that's what happened!" my brother finally figured out, "So what are you
going to do now?
"I need you to help me," I said nicely, just in case he refused.
"I don't know," he said smilingly.
"I'll give you my collection of 'Grarrl Comics' if you help me."
"Really?"
"Sure," I replied, because there's only one book in the collection anyway.
"So what do we need to do?" he asked.
"Well, first, I want you to go and gab that bottle on the floor, then find
out if it says where to get a 'Growing Potion'," I suggested.
My brother set me down on the glass coffee table in our living room while
he went to get the bottle. As he was going, I looked down at the table and was
terrified! If you've ever been on a piece of glass and looked down, all sort
of scary ideas will come to your mind, most of them will be on how the glass
will break, and how you'll fall. I was in one of those situations. This is the
only time when I wish my brother would come back soon.
"What took you so long?" I yelled as my brother got back.
"Well, for your information, I was trying to sneak past Mum, unless you want
the whole story to be exposed."
"Pick me up, pick me up."
"Okay, fine," my brother said as he picked me up and set me on the floor.
"What does the bottle say?"
"Nothing here says anything about a growing potion, but there's a 'For more
information, Call 555-5505' label on the bottle. Do you want to try it?"
"Well, I guess there's nothing more we can do," I replied.
Shaktar tried to call the number on the label but there was no one at the
other end of the line. He kept trying and trying until we finally gave up and
hung up. As soon as the telephone was set down, it started ringing. My brother
answered it and there was a deep, creepy voice that said, "Your answer lies
in 'The High Street'."
"Wait, hello? Hello?" Shaktar said.
"What happened?"
"The line hung up. There was a voice that said the answer lies in 'The High
Street', although I don't know where that is."
"Let's go there, since we're on summer vacation anyway!" I exclaimed with
joy.
"But what will we tell Mum and Dad? We can't just say that you've shrunk to
a Buzzer's size because you drank that 'Shrinking Potion' and now we're going
to 'The High Street' to find the 'Growing Potion' to make you big again!" Shaktar
exclaimed.
"Hmmm, hmmm... hmmm, hmmm," I started thinking and walking aback and forth.
"Will you PLEASE stop the 'hmmm's. I'm trying to think too!" my brother yelled.
"What's going on in there? And who are you talking to?" my Mum asked.
"We... I mean I'm... I'm practising this speech for drama class. So if you
hear any noises, ignore them," my brother replied.
"But you don't have a drama class. As a matter of fact, you don't even go
to school, yet."
"I just got one this morning!"
"Okay, whatever you say. Would you be quieter, though? I've got guests coming
over."
"All right," my brother said.
Once my Mum left, I started to burst out with laughing. "Oh, it's not funny.
Stop laughing," my brother replied. I closed my mouth for a second, but then
I started laughing again.
"Okay, we've got to think now. How are we going to convince Mum and Dad to
take us to 'The High Street'? But first of all, where is 'The High Street' ?"
"I know, we could just tell the truth!" I answered jokingly.
"You're not helping. I'm only doing this for you, you know," Shaktar said,
and then he mumbled something that sounds a lot like "and the comics, too."
"Well, let's go look at the map first," I suggested.
My brother took out the map, and we spent the entire hour trying to find 'The
High Street', and we finally found it. It was where the shops are.
"I got it! What if I tell them that we need a vacation at the Neolodge and
that you want to stay at one of your friend's house all summer." My brother
finally came up with a good idea.
"Sure," I replied.
That night at dinner, Mum served none other than... omelettes. My brother snuck
a piece of pepperoni for me, and that was enough. I really wish that sometimes
we could eat a more fancy food than these omelettes.
"Shaktar, do you know where Leli went?" my Mum asked.
"I received a message from the phone that he'll be staying with his friends
during the whole summer," he replied.
"Good. Would you like some more omelettes?"
"Good? Does my Mum think that having me leaving the house is a good thing?"
I thought to myself.
"Uh, no thanks. Um, Dad?" my brother said.
"What?" he replied. "I have been thinking and I think that we should go on
vacation and stay at the Neolodge this summer. What do you think?"
"I kink tat's a ood idee," my Dad said through a mouth full of omelettes.
"Pardon me?"
"I think that's a good idea, but first, we're not going to the Neolodge because
your brother drank some 'Shrinking Potion' and now we're going there to try
to find the 'Growing Potion', right?"
"Uh, n... no, of course no! What ever gave you that idea? It's just a simple
vacation, that's all."
"Good, because if your brother did drank some 'Shrinking Potion' and you lied
to me about it, I would be really mad, and you know how I am when I'm mad,"
my Dad said, eyeing my brother suspiciously.
"No, that's impossible," my brother answered.
"Right, I was just kidding," my Dad suddenly calmed down and replied.
"Oh, stop it. This is why I think we need a vacation," my Mum interrupted.
"Maybe you're right, we should start tomorrow, so let's pack our things right
after dinner," my Dad suggested.
"Great! As a matter of fact, I'll just go to my room and start packing," my
brother said.
When my brother got to his room, he took out this traveling case and started
thinking about what to pack. "Let's pack our clothing first of all, but, I'
m not so sure where we're going to get your clothing from," Shaktar pointed
out.
"Yeah, that is a problem… I know! What about the Usuki doll clothing that
Mum used to play when she was little? Maybe we could ask her," I suggested.
"How are we going to get that?"
"You could say that I'm supposed to baby-sit for my friend's sister and asked
you to give me some of the clothing for her to play with."
"I'll ask her tomorrow, but let's pack other things first right now."
We packed all the necessary stuff that nigh along with some miscellaneous
things, too. I'll let you decide what they are. Then my brother made me a bed
out of a shoebox and some cloth with stuffing inside for the pillow and another
piece of cloth for a blanket. I slept uneasy that night because of my bed.
The next morning, my brother followed his regular schedule and asked my Mum
for her dolls' clothing. The weird thing was, she actually believed him. My
brother pretended to run off to give the clothing to me, but he actually just
went for a walk around the block and came back.
Then we started off on our hard and challenging journey that no one had ever
completed before. Well, it's actually just a vacation to 'The High Street',
but the thought of an adventure was fun while it lasted. This was the rockiest
road I've ever been in, so every fifth word that we say, there is a "kabump"
in between, although I think that it is due to the reason that they're doing
some remodeling of the road.
"Shaktar, could you check where-kabump-we are going on the-kabump-map?" my
Dad asked. Then my brother took out the map and identified our place.
"Okay, you now, when your-kabump-Mum and I were young…" Dad talked about the
boring old days back when he and Mum had to walk every time they wanted to go
somewhere because they were too poor to afford any type of transportation which
is a boring story now. It's nit that I don't care about their "olden days" stories,
but because they talked about it too much for me to think that it's important
to listen anymore.
Everyone got comfortable seats that day but me. I was seated in the shoebox
that my brother made for me yesterday. The car was quiet until my Dad asked,
"Shaktar, why are you carrying-kabump-that shoebox on our trip?"
"I don't know, just in-kabump-case we might need it."
"For what?"
"Pillow?"
"Okay, so do any of-kabump-you know what you're going-kabump-to do when we
get-kabump-to the Neolodge?" my Dad moved on to the next subject.
Mum started reading this list she wrote on what she was going to do there
but I stopped listening to her halfway through because the list was too long.
I don't think anyone else was listening either because Dad interrupted Mum and
said, "That's great! Now what are-kabump-you planning to do, Shaktar?"
"I'm going to look for-kabump-the 'Growing Potion'... I mean…"
"Did you just say 'Growing-kabump-Potion'?"
"No, I said… Mowing Notion-kabump-… I was planning to learn-kabump-how to
mow better."
