Hello fellow Neopians! Ever wonder about those Paint Brushes you use on your
Pets? You may think "Well it's called a Paint Brush because it PAINTS a different
colour on the pet." BUT that is not true. Weeks of study show that the paint
on the brush is actually a gene-mutating serum. It changes the colour of your
Pet along with the personality. Many articles have been done on the other types
of Pets but I have yet to see one done on Mutants.
So Nanasho, my Buzz, and I have taken the liberty of going around Neopia and
studying these bizarre forms of Pet. You are probably asking "All right Snake,
why are you choosing the hippie over your other pets? I mean she hardly ever
fights (and wins)." The answer to your question: Because she is the only Pet
I have that can fly fast, for long periods of time, while holding a ten-pound
camera (plus, she thought it would be fun to do this).
Well, let's begin with the history of the Paint Brushes...
Slight History of Paint Brushes and the Potions
As you know the Pets are mutated not by the Paint Brush but by a potion. The
reason is this: the potion's contents are too strong to put on a Paint Brush.
The toxicity just rots the brush away with in about two seconds. We have reason
to believe that the potions are prototypes of the Faerie Paint Brush. The potions
are just the paint with no brush.
Also, when you paint a Pet the brush is putting the serum on the outside of
the body. This works similar to the way sleeping pills do. The paint is slowly
seeping into the body at a safe pace. But the mutant potions are being taken
in one gulp. It's like taking that sleeping pill with the plastic covering (it
slowly allows you medicine to do its thing) and grinding it up and taking the
full shot. This could be another reason why the Mutants look so horribly deformed.
We have been keeping taps on some of the wild Mutants out there. Do to the
gene-mutations they have a rather violent nature and once one decides it wants
to hurt you… let's just say you won't get away that easily (you're in BIG trouble
if the raging mutant can fly, trust us we know). They seem to be more like pack
animals, and enjoy being with others of their own… state. It's really amazing
to watch them interact with one another.
Their bodies are breeding grounds for diseases. However the diseases have
never been once recorded to transmitting to another Pet. This attribute shows
just how tolerant to pain they are. These creatures are so pain tolerant you
could cut one in the face and it wouldn't feel anything. Here's another contest
- They will stand in the middle of a bonfire and see who is the most enduring.
They are actually very intelligent and learn quickly. But someone once told
me: "There is a fine line between genius and insanity". Some Mutants can even
be taught to speak. Their voices are usually very wet and they speak like there
is a lot of moisture in the throat. If you love them they will return that love
tenfold and be a friend and protector to you and your goals. Diet-wise they
are mainly carnivorous. But since Neopia seems to shun and hate their presence
these creatures are forced to living around and in junkyards, eating only what
other Neopians don't want (like rotten food).
Sadly, these creatures are almost never given the correct care and attention
and are usually sent to the pound. So the next part of this will be dedicated
to the correct care and maintenance of your mutant.
Care Tips for New Mutant Owners
Feeding: Like I said above Mutants eat mainly meat, thus have the instincts
of a hunter (that have been kicked up to the maximum). You can just give your
Mutant the food and let it vent its hunting instincts on your rare plushies.
Or you can make things interesting and spare your Flaming Wuzzle a terrible
demise. The normal NeoPets seem to enjoy these activities a lot also
1. For the flying Mutants try using a slingshot and flinging the
food into the air or climbing into a tree and hiding it among the branches.
2. For your Mutants restricted to the ground you could tie the food
to a remote controlled car and let it chase that for a while. Or just hide the
food around your yard.
Milk works very well for calming your Mutant down if they become a little
too excited. It's hardly fool-prove but it might help you defend yourself against
a raging mutant.
Bedding: Mutants are pack animals and really don't like being alone.
So don't be surprised if in the middle of the night you wake up to have your
loveable little ball of fangs snuggled up next to you (or one of your other
NeoPets screaming because it happened to them). You don't have to share a bed
with them, just put a rug on the floor and they will happily sleep there. If
you don't want to do that then try wrapping a towel around a warm water bottle.
Bathing: Now the way these creatures keep clean in the wild is through
the bonfire contest. They hold one every day. That's how they bathe strange,
huh? Don't be surprised if your Mutant is a little hesitant to getting in the
water. It helps if the water is hot so it will remind them of the flames only
without the pain.
Mutants have wounded minds. They need love and understanding most. Some owners
have Mutants that are vicious. This is because
A. They have been turned that why by the owner.
B. They have wild spirits that need more time and care to tame.
C. The owner isn't even trying to help.
Mutants are not evil foul creatures. They are just misunderstood. So if you
found this in anyway entertaining go to the Adoption Centre and adopt a Mutant.
Everyone deserves to be loved. |
