A Guide to Tonus: Advanced Theories

by westielovergurl

Well, there's nothing much to Tonu care... is there? They are just like any other NeoPet, you can do cool things with them, just like any other NeoPet, blah blah blah. Not much to say, is there? But, there's a new twist- Keep reading this for more!

In this volume, we will cover ancient ancestors. Read their description first: Tonu are native to the land of Tyrannia, hatched from the gigantic eggs of some unknown monster. They love nothing more than to charge around and cause havoc, knocking over whatever gets in their way.

When they say "hatched from the gigantic eggs of some unknown monster", what do they mean? Yes, they mean "unknown monster", but all responsible Tonu owners would find out all they can about the new species, so they can give their Tonu the maximum amount of love and care. Most Tonu in Neopia are very young, as this new species has just been discovered. Obviously, we haven't seen their TRUE colours yet. If they are new, how will we know how they act and behave as adults?

You may argue with this, but what if the new Tonu will grow up to be a horrible monster who is content only when their master is THEIR slave? True, I may be being paranoid, but when it comes to new species with unknown ancestry, we need to be careful to make sure that in the future, Neopians won't be at risk!!

A theory I have is that we could find out as much about as the Tonu as possible, so before they grow up, we can make sure Neopia is, erm, um, PREPARED for what happens... if anything.

First off, we should look into the ancestry the Tonu will resemble their ancestors in both temperament and appearance. Sure, they look absolutely adorable now, but what if they grow to be gigantic eyesores who are aggressive and are always knocking buildings down?

Who is that unknown monster? IS it an unknown monster? First of all, when they say MONSTER, that just freaks me out... I mean, they could say CREATURE, or ancient NeoPet, but monsters are usually not so nice... I mean, here is the definition for monster:

mon·ster [mónstr ] (plural mon·sters) noun

1. ugly terrifying creature: any large, ugly, terrifying animal or person found in mythology or created by the imagination, especially something fierce that kills people. Monsters often feature in folklore and fairytales as evil creatures resembling a mixture of different animals.

2. evil person: somebody whose perceived inhumanity or vicious behaviour terrifies and disgusts people

3. huge thing: something extraordinarily or unusually large (informal) (often used before a noun)

4. offensive term: an offensive term for a person, animal, or plant that is undesirably formed (archaic)

Does this mean that in the future, our sweet little Tonus might turn into monsters, like their ancient ancestor?

Next, lets look at appearance. They are from Tyrannia, and there a few pets who originated in Tyrannia:

1. Chomby
2. Pteri

Now, let's look at the Tonu's profile. They do not have wings, and either just don't have the ability to fly born in their blood, or have not demonstrated this ability if they have it yet. They do not have feathers, but on the other hand, they hatched from an egg... I have concluded that the Tonu probably does not by blood relate to a Pteri ancestor.

What about the Chomby? Both are "dinosaur" like, and both are hatched from an egg. The Tonu looks like a hippo lion cross, while the Chomby looks like a cute dinosaur from the un-modern and very UN-NeoPet world. They MIGHT be related... however it is highly unlikely.

Well, for now we have no idea, so we might as well take our chances and see what happens...

However, what does the rest of Neopia think? Neopians interviewed say:

Don't care, they are just CUTE! - 50% (10 Neopians)

Yeah, it would be interesting to know, but if I don't know, I wouldn't really care.
- 25% (5 Neopians)

I don't have a Tonu, and I haven't read their description. - 25% (5 Neopians)

There were 20 Neopians interviewed in all. (Lucky me, all the people voted in a way so all the percentages split equally!!! :)
