NeoPets Item Lookup Guide - So Many to Do, Which to Choose?

by jenii

Have you ever clicked on an item? Chances are you have, unless you are a complete Newbie. Have you ever been really confused in what to choose? Well, this guide to items will help you make the right choice!

1. Feed to, Play with, Read to, etc.
These are the choices you make that concern your pets. My opinion is, does your pet need it? (If he or she doesn't need it, such as a toy or grooming item, spoil your pet once in a while!) Anyway, for example, if the item is food, is your pet hungry? (Check QuickRef if you don't know. QuickRef can be easily accessed by clicking on your pet's name on the yellow bar.)If your pet is hungry, feed him/her! If he or she is not, there are many other choices. By the way, if the item is a toy, play with all your pets. A good attribute of the toy is that it doesn't disappear if you play with it with your pet.

2. Put In Your Safety Deposit Box
If the item is something that just came out, such as a NeoHome item, I suggest you choose this option. (Actually, if it IS a NeoHome item, check option #8 if you have a NeoHome.) Also, if it is something you want to put in your already-full shop, this is also a good option. Other reasons to choose this basically includes the fact that you can't bear to part with it. Or it is an item you want to pamper your pets with in the future.

3. Donate Item
This is a fantastic option. Donating the item basically means that the item will go to the Money Tree, and it will most likely go to a needy Neopian. If you have no use for the item, please please PLEASE donate! Every good Neopian should donate plenty of items (unless you are a Newbie). Donating helps out others and is greatly appreciated.

4. Discard Item
Frankly, this is the worst choice. Basically, if you choose this, your item goes down the drain. I do not recommend this, unless you want to feed Neopets' trash compactor or something.

5. Put in Shop
First of all, if you don't HAVE a shop, this choice is obviously not available. If you want a shop (which is a good idea) go to "Your Shop" at the top toolbar next to "Your Items" and go to "Create/Edit Shop". Anyway, if the item is really popular, such as an Usuki item or a Gnome, put it in your shop so it will sell. If it's not that popular, such as a Tombola item, then consider whether YOU would buy it if you saw it in someone else's shop.

6. Give to Neofriend
This is sort of like donating. Does a Neofriend of yours need the item you have for a quest or for their sick pet? Is it their birthday? Did someone in your guild mention an item they wanted? If the answer to one of those questions is yes, give your Neofriend the item. Also, if you and your Neofriend have had a fight and you want to apologise, send them a nice item, with a Neogreeting. A surprise present is always appreciated, too. When you send an item to a Neofriend, trust me, you will be appreciated.

7. Put Up for Auction
This is a great idea if you need some major NP. The prices will go up if the item is popular. Sometimes, if it is not popular, a lot of people will still wish to buy it! This is a good way to sell items at a big price, though the process is sort of slow.

8. Put In NeoHome
Well basically, this idea only works if, you HAVE a NeoHome, if you have ROOMS in your NeoHome, and if the item is a piece of furniture. Adding furniture to your NeoHome is a super idea; your pets will feel so much better with furniture than in an empty house. However, don't crowd the room. Nice open space is so much better.

Well, that's my guide to Item Lookup! I hope it helps you make the right decision for items! See ya!
