"I still can't explain it. I still don't know how I left the monotone grey
world that is the Earth, and entered Neopia. When it all began, I knew nothing.
But soon enough, everything changed."
I opened my eyes on a world of lush green. I saw around me, a world of fantastic
plants and animals that were all foreign to me. In the air, a strange bird watched
me lazily. I rubbed my eyes, having never seen anything like this. Is this
a dream? I thought to myself as I gazed at the wondrous world that lay before
me.
"Where am I?" I said aloud to no one. I took a step forward, and out of no
where, a mysterious red cat stopped me.
"Oops, I don't think you've had clearance for this area, state your name and
password please. Then I'll log you in."
"Log me in?" I asked, puzzled.
"Oh, you are new?" the red cat asked, its eyes glittering. "Well, then that's
quite different."
"New?" I pondered. "Well, I guess so. Where am I anyway? This is Earth right?
And what are you?"
"You mean you don't know? Didn't the person who told you about this place
tell you anything? You're in Neopia of course! I'm an Aisha. Now what's your
name?" the red Aisha asked.
"Ummm, no one really told me about this place. I don't even know how I got
here! My name? It's Christine."
The Aisha shook its head. "No, no, no. I mean what do you want to be called?
Try and find an original name," it said ignoring my confusion.
"But Christine is my name," I said, now extremely confused.
"Yes, yes, but it is also the name of many others. You need a unique name.
Find one that isn't taken," it said, as if it was almost getting bored
of the conversation.
"Um, how about cjackson? That's original," I said.
"Well not quite original enough. The records show that that name is taken,"
it said clutching a personal records computer that had seemed to appear out
of thin air.
"Ummm how about cjackson151?" I said, adding my favourite number to the end
of the name.
"Yep, my data shows that it's free. Your name is cjackson151. Now what will
your password be?" she said, handing me a strange blue purse.
"Ummmm how about--" I began to say.
"Shhhhhh! Not so loud! You don't want anyone to know that! They'll steal your
identity! Whisper it in my ear," it said, quite perplexed.
I whispered it into the Aisha's ear. The Aisha nodded. It asked me a variety of
other things including my age, birth date etc. I answered them all as best I
could. After it had finished, the Aisha asked, "Do you want to sign up with our
sponsors?"
"Sponsors?" I asked. "Do I have to pay money to be in this world?"
"No, no, no. Of course not. You merely have to sign up with our sponsors,
they're what keeps Neopia in existence of course. Without them, our world would
crumble and fall," the Aisha said, seriously.
"Ummmm, sure," I said, but I really was quite unsure. I had no idea where
I was, or what was going on.
"Now follow me, and we'll get you a pet!" the Aisha said.
Although I was quite confused, I was pretty sure that this strange creature
would tell answer my questions eventually. I followed the Aisha through the woods,
till eventually we came upon a great city.
"What is this place?" I asked, marveling at its beauty.
"Neopia Central," the Aisha replied.
