Making the switch By ladee_Sarah There comes a time in everyone's life where
they have to make a decision of some sort that's very important and will affect
a lot of people. Sometimes it will be made easy by the fact that one will have
disastrous consequences but more often than not both are good things and it's
a bit of an eeny meeny miny mo situation.
So, how do you decide whether or not to make your guild private? Good things
can happen from making it private, but bad things also. Good things can happen
from not making it private but bad also.
· When a guild has a lot of members the guild
leader has to do more work so making the guild private would stop more members
joining and therefore stop the workload increasing. - good thing
· If your guild is private and designed to help Newbies, how can
they be helped if they don't know your guild exists! - bad thing
· It adds the fun of secrecy to guild life - good thing
· Members may feel restricted and trapped and therefore leave making
the guild less active - bad thing
There are a lot more pros and cons that I had to consider when trying to decide
whether my guild was ready to make the switch and there were probably a lot
more that didn't even come to mind.
But owning a guild isn't just for your own pleasure. Ask your
members what they think. NeoPets was kind enough to add a poll feature to the
guilds, so use it!
For example,
Should the guild go private?
· Yes
· No
· Unsure
In making a decision so important it's always nice to know what others think
so ask your members, talk to them, start a huge debate on the message board.
Talk about pros and cons, whether the guild is large enough to support being
private (if there's only four members it won't be much fun) and make the decision
together.
After all, the guild's there for the members! |
