Running Your Shop Like a Moehog!

by gameboybluehippo

In week 22 of The Neopian Times in my article called "Deflation? Inflation? Who is Right?", I issued out a challenge to rainbow_star_baby and myself to write an article that will outline our very different and contrasting point of views on how to run a shop in Neopia. Here you will learn my aggressive strategy to running a successful shop that will make you wealthier and more powerful than other Neopians. This article will provide you with the steps to success so that you two can run your shop like a Moehog!

"Because we're richer than you!"

The first thing one must do to employ this strategy is to earn a little bit of money outside of running a shop. That is, one must play games to get on their feet. There are many articles out there in the Neopian times that will help you get you started. I recommend reading the many articles written by grand master gaming guru docktor. Just put his name in the search box and click 'Go!' to be teleported to a page that will list all of his writings. Also you may want to check out the article by ankharis called "Having Trouble With the Stock Market?" for an authority on how to make money using the stock market.

After you get a comfortable amount of money it is time to move on to the second step. Look for a product that you feel people will buy. Such excellent choices include Codestones, Dubloons, and Faerie Quest items (i.e. Cool Shades, Blue Bandanna, etc…). If you are very wealthy then I recommend looking into Codestones. Otherwise, you should stick to Faerie Quest items.

Now that you have a product in mind to sell it is time to execute the aggressive strategy that only a Moehog could think up. What you must do is use the Shop Wizard to look at the product of your choice and see what the price is. Now rather than selling your items for 10 NP lower that the competition as many have suggested, buy out everybody within a 10 - 100 Neopoint range and then set your price to that. This way, you will be the lowest price on the Shop Wizard and you will make a profit on everybody that you bought out! After awhile you'll be able to make a huge profit and be able to afford the Golden Butter Knife!!!

There is one last warning I wish to give to all of you faithful Neopians out there. Don't put all 5 billion items in your shop right away. If you have too many items in your shop of the same kind, then people will sell their items for lower rather than trying to buy you out. Don't worry, being bought out is a good thing since you get you'll be able to get rid of all your items. And isn't that what you want anyway?

Due to a flood of Neomail asking me about another dimension of running a shop, expect another article out soon with a tutorial on how to make your shop look good. Happy Shopping!
