Dubloons: Another Name for Fortune?

by nomargarciaparra46

Dubloons are commonly known as "a way to increase all of your NeoPet's level", but I prefer to use them for something else. Because that's what everybody knows them as, most people have no idea what to do with the collection of them that they've saved up from their months, or even almost a year of playing Deckball/Deckswabber. So, it's surprising that something that seems to be so worthless, can quickly build you a fortune. Here's my advice for all you Dubloon collectors--SELL THEM!!

Getting Dubloons:
Unless you are good at Deckball/Deckswabber, you probably won't find this article of much interest, because they're not easy to get unless you're good at the games. The best way to get them is to start playing Deckball/Deckswabber, A LOT. Practice, practice, practice. It may take a little while, (and a lot of practice!) to get to the level of play where you can easily win what you want, but it's worth it. In Deckball, to win anything, you must play in survival mode on captain (if you score 5 goals you get a one Dubloon coin, seven gets you a two Dubloon coin, and ten pulls in a five Dubloon coin). In Deckswabber you won't win a thing until you get 300 points. Personally, I find Deckball a lot more interesting, and easier to win at. Deckball, in my opinion, is more skill, and less luck. Deckswabber, on the other hand, is more luck, and a little less skill. So, you can take your chances with either one, but I still suggest Deckball.

Getting what you want for your collection:
Obviously, you have several choices on what to do with what you own. These choices are, trade 'em, sell 'em, auction 'em, or… donate 'em. The last one is probably your least choice, but it's still an option. Anyway, you can read different articles on auctioning and trading, but I think I have the best philosophy on selling. When selling your Dubloons, there are basically two ways to go, selling for speed, or for value. Pick whichever you like, because it doesn't really matter… much. So, while I was writing this article, the lowest price on the Shop Wizard for a one Dubloon coin was 2,000 NP. Here's a little chart with the current lowest value on the Shop Wizard:

One Dubloon coin = 2,000 NP
Two Dubloon coin = 2,700 NP
Five Dubloon Coin = 4,700 NP
Ten Dubloon Coin = 7,200 NP
Twenty Dubloon coin = 14,900 NP
Fifty Dubloon coin = 38,000 NP
One hundred Dubloon coin = 75,000 NP
Two hundred Dubloon coin= 100,000 NP
One thousand Dubloon coin= 250,000 NP

Well, there you have it. As you can see, the value of the coins start to go down after a while, because, the larger the coin is, the worse it is. This is because the academy can only take so large a Dubloon coin, and no larger. Because of this, the really huge coins have become novelty items, only used for buying, selling, and advertising, cause you can't use 'em for anything practical. I strongly advise NOT making huge coins with your smaller ones, sell 'em while they're still worth a lot.

An example:
If you were to sell one hundred one Dubloon coins for 2,000 NP each, you'd get 200,000 NP. And, the one hundred Dubloon coin sells for 75,000 NP. Get my point? That leads us back to selling for speed or value. If you want to get those Dubloons out of your shop quick, sell them for 100 or even two hundred NP less than the lowest on the shop market. (Compared to what you are going to get, believe me, this is nothing!) This is what I always do, and buy the time I get to my shop till, somebody's already bought it. Oh yeah, you might like to know that by using this method I've sold 59 Dubloon coins, for a total of 171,770 NP. And I'm still going. If you want to sell for the most money you can get, you'll probably settle for one NP less, or maybe fifty. But, I can tell you that it probably won't work, because people aren't going to pay like that. Well, that's all I have time for! Happy Dublooning, and good luck at making your fortune! (Also make sure you read the other articles on Dubloons. Some of them are quite good!)
