Tombola: Cause of Neopian Deflation? by cjackson151 | |
I think we've all been noticing that Neopia is having trouble with deflation.
Before you start blaming it on Dubloons, shop owners and Shadow goverments,
instead think, When did Neopia's deflation start?
I remember that when I first started playing NeoPets around six months ago,
that Codestone prices were at anywhere from 5 to 10 thousand Neopoints, faeries
were steady around 5-6000 NP and the plain colour Paint Brushes cost about 3000
NP. But that all changed a few months later when they brought back Tombola.
This time it was free and once a day. The first few days it was out Codestone
prices held steady and everyone was making a profit. After a while the prices
of Codestones, Faeries, Plain Colour Paint Brushes, Gross Food and even those
Tiki Tack prizes we've all grown to hate sunk to an all time low. When Dubloons
came out awhile later they added to the decline of Codestones, but had not effect
on the prices of the other items.
A lot of people are enjoying the low prices of training materials, but will
it last? Will the prices of Codestones and other training materials sink until
they reach an all-time low at one Neopoint? I doubt it. With NeoPets, something
will always change. If we all woke up tomorrow and found Tombola gone (possible
because of how much it encourages multiple accounts), there would be a Codestone,
Faerie and Paint Brush buying frenzy! You'd suddenly find yourself wishing you
hadn't donated all those Booby Prizes... (okay, so maybe Booby Prizes wouldn't
change in price that much... But the fact is that Tombola IS one of the main
sources of deflation. Other one's include The Shrine and The Fruit Machine.
(I'm not including the Snowager as a source of deflation, because you rarely
get items from it and more than likely end up spending some NP healing your
pet if it gets blasted.)
So you must all be wondering, "When will deflation stop?" I think it will
pretty soon. Eventually the prices will either level out, or skyrocket because
of an event such as Tombola and other free sources of Neopoints disappearing,
or perhaps because of a battledome war or a new world coming out. And for all
you out there enjoying deflation, enjoy it while it lasts, for as they say,
"All good things much eventually come to an end." |
