How to Improve Your Pet - For Free (almost)! by kiyasurin | |
Lately, I have been noticing more and more pets with extremely high stats and
extremely high intelligence levels. Feeling a little left behind, I have been
trying to raise my pet’s stats also, but I’ve found that this is hard to do
on a limited budget. So, for those of us who aren’t Neopian millionaires and
don’t want to spend our entire life savings on Codestones, Dubloons, and Neggs,
there is hope! It is entirely possible to raise a NeoPet to be big and strong
pet without spending any of your current savings. Here’s how it works:
First of all, use Coltzan’s Shrine every single day (it’s located in the Lost
Desert). You get one visit per day, and it is absolutely free. It usually will
raise one of your pet’s stats by one point, but sometimes it will raise a stat
by a couple of points. Coltzan also gives out food, weapons, Dubloons, faeries,
and sometimes even Neopoints! Use the Dubloons he gives you at the Academy on
Krawk Island to further raise your pet’s statistics, and use the faeries he
gives you to bless your pet! It is also helpful to play Tombola on Mystery Island
and the Fruit Machine in the Lost Desert, as these can give out Faeries and
Codestones too.
Next, raise your pet’s intelligence level and earn some extra NP by playing
Cliffhanger
(this game is very similar to traditional hangman). Not only will your pet get
smarter as you complete the puzzles, but you will also raise the money you need
for:
Faerie Quests! I advise never refusing a Faerie quest, except for the Earth
Faerie quests (The Earth Faerie usually asks for expensive magic items, and
in return makes your pet ‘bloated.’ Unless your pet is starving, her quests
usually aren’t worth it). Each of the different Faeries (besides the Earth Faerie)
will either raise your pet up one level (the Light Faerie does this) or increase
a stat by two points. The Faeries ask for simple items like makeup, toys, clothes,
collectable cards, or books, which can be found in the Neopia Central shops
for reasonable prices. Faerie quests are an excellent way to give your pet’s
stats a boost.
Do you still have a little cash left over from Cliffhanger? Good! Use it to
play the Wheel of Excitement in Faerieland and the Wheel of Mediocrity in Tyrannia.
You can play them once every hour. These can earn you some additional NP, but
you can sometimes win PetPets by playing these! Every pet loves to have a PetPet,
so get your pet one for free by playing these two games.
Speaking of games, there are several out there that can give your pet’s stats
a boost if you do well at them (hint: Poogle Solitaire). You’ll have to play
the rest of the games yourself to find which of them can help your pet out.
(Games are also one of the best ways to earn NP!)
And last of all is the kind Water Faerie at the Healing Springs in Faerieland.
She won’t increase your pet’s stats or intelligence or give them a PetPet, but
she will heal your pet if its sick, hungry, or has had a bad day in the Battledome.
Her kindness if invaluable, so if your pet is ailing, take it to see this generous
Faerie!
So there you go! Your pet won’t become impressive overnight, but in a few month’s
time you’ll have a smart, strong, healthy pet (and a PetPet too!). And you will
not have spent a single Neopoint of your current savings. Take all the money
you saved and buy something nice for your pet. A paintbrush is the only thing
I can’t help you get for free (unless you’re lucky enough to find one on the
ground!). Have fun raising your pet, I hope this article helped you out a little!
And for those of you who are willing to spend a lot of money improving your
pet, this guide is a great supplement to your pet’s current training. See you
around Neopia! |
