Well, as you know, Christmas is just around the corner. You probably want to
get into the holiday spirit, buying gifts for your pets and having sales for
Christmas. But does the way your shop look reflect how many customers you have?
That is the question. Most people don't like a plain, boring shop, but shops
with tons of decorations could annoy shoppers, causing them to leave before
they scroll all the way down to what they came for!
So I am here to give you my opinion on decorating your shop for the holidays.
1. Get a background. Not a flashy, animated one, something simple, maybe
faded so you can see the text. Tiled backgrounds are great.
2. Add some pictures. But not too many. Space them out, and only have
a few so your customer doesn't have to scroll for 10 minutes.
3. Music is OK, sometimes. If you have only 1 or 2 pictures, and no
background, it could help to add music, like a midi file. But, beware, music
can seriously add to the loading time of your shop, as well as annoy customers
who have their volumes up, then hear some punk band blaring.
4. Give credit to those you take from. If you get a picture, background,
or music file from someone, it's nice to add a link, but don't add too many.
Again, the reason people come to the shops is to do just that: SHOP. SHOP. SHOP.
5. It helps to have some related items. If it's Christmas time, get
some items people could use around Christmas. Plushies, food, paint brushes,
and decorations will be great buys.
6. Check it out yourself. Many people update their shop, then don't
even look at it! As soon as you're finished updating, go to Shop Front. Time
how long your shop takes to load, it should be NO longer than 10 seconds. Then
look how much space your decorations take up, in relation to the items in your
shop. Make sure you are well stocked and your shop looks neat.
7. Advertise. Once your shop looks its best, go to the Shop Ads section
of the Chat. Tell people about your shop, and if you want, ask them to tell
you what they think of your decorations. If they like it, they might come by
often.
8. Change with the seasons. Once a holiday is over, get rid of decorations
for that holiday. Use some all year round decorations to brighten your shop
while there are no holidays.
Check your search for more! Just type in animated gifs, free graphics, free
backgrounds, holiday gifs, or something like that.
Hope I helped, and check out my shop! I decorated
for Christmas, so tell me what you think! |
