Time Management on NeoPets

by shidi

With the busy holiday season fast approaching, and the pressures of work or school, you may find yourself hard pressed to find time for your favourite hobby--NeoPets. But with some time saving tips, you may find that you can spend more time enjoying your pets--and less time being stressed. No matter how much computer time you have per day or week, you can make that time stretch further with some basic organizational skills.

Bookmarks
For things you do daily, like visit the Tombola, or grab a yummy piece of omlette--bookmark the page that they are on for easy direct access. Bookmarks (or Favorite Places if you use AOL or IE) take you directly to the page without having to search for it. To make a bookmark in Netscape, just press Ctrl + d , or go to Add Bookmark under the bookmarks menu. For AOL users, just mark the page in your favourite places by dragging the heart. For IE, click Favorites, and select Add to Favorites.

Use the News
To keep up with New Features, visit the News section on the yellow sidebar. Check the dates you might have missed playing on to see what new features (or updates) have occurred. You may also wish to check the Editorial section of The Neopian Times for some frequently asked questions. If you have a guild, read over the guild's message board. New features are a frequent topic of discussion in most guilds. If your guild has a newsletter, this is another great way to catch up on what you may have missed.

Print
If you want to read some of the great stories in The Neopian Times, or the rules to a new game, or an article or two from the Neopedia - print them out. You can take them with you to work or school and read during free time you may have on a lunch break. This is also a great time saver if you share the computer with other family members. While it's not your turn, you can be reading up on what you want to do when your time comes around.

Neolodge
Whether you are having a particularly busy time due to exams or meetings or perhaps have been grounded from the computer- use the Neolodge to look after your pets for you. They will be fed and cared for while you spend the time you need to elsewhere - without the guilt of knowing your poor pets are lonely and starving. Pets really like a trip to the Neolodge every now and then, so it's the perfect solution.

Routine
If you follow a routine, or plan - your limited NeoPets time can stretch further. Start with the daily basics : Visit Omelette, Play Tombola, Spin Fruit Machine, Collect Interest from Bank Account, Worship at Coltzan's Shrine, Feed Pets. Remember bookmarks? They can make the daily routine easier to get through. Then - use the rest of your online time for whatever else you like - playing your favourite NeoPets games, or stocking your shop full of yummy goodies.

Preferences
If you are having a particularly busy time period, you may want to take a look at your site preferences. Turning off Battledome challenges, guild invites, and restricting your Neomail to Neofriends Only can be a great time saver. Much time can be wasted rejecting challenges you don't have time for, deleting invites to guilds you don't want to join, and deleting spam Neomail. When you have time to battle again, or read Neomail from everyone, just switch your preferences back to where you had them set originally.

I hope this article helps you make the most of your time on NeoPets, and that you will enjoy playing, as I have, even when the rest of your life is hectic. If you have any questions about the article, please feel free to Neomail me and discuss them.
