The Kidnapping
My bare feet squished in the wet sand. I could feel it ooze pleasantly between
my toes. I looked over as my Neofriend Bubbleina115 and my Kacheek Faeriechild20
splashed each other playfully. It was a warm sunny day on Mystery Island Beach
and a happy mood covered the island as much as the sun did.
"Come on in the water is great!" my white Lupe Magicgirl called. She was my
favourite. (Don't tell!) I loved Magicgirl more than anyone else. She was my
weakness. I stretched out on a pink beach towel and let the warm sun wash over
me. My Faerie Poogle Tali came and nuzzled me.
"TiTi," she whispered. That was what my pets called me. It was short for Tiana47.
I lifted my sunglasses to get a better look at her.
"Yes sweets?" I asked, bopping her on the head gently. She grabbed one of
her gossamer wings nervously (I try to discourage this habit).
"May I go skimming? You know, use my wings to suspend me above the water just
high enough to ski across the surface?" I looked at her thoughtfully,
"As long as you don't go flying too high, baby." I gave her a kiss and away
she went. I started to get up and join the others in the water, until I heard
a soft voice hissing in my ear,
"Give me what I want, or I will take what you shall miss the most..." the
cold voice said, sounding like long, evil daggers. I pulled out my plastic butter
knife and whirled around, ready to defend my pets. Nothing. Everyone had stopped
laughing. A purple light was moving toward the sun. Closer. Closer. CLOSER!
Darkness flooded over everything. Bubbleina115 and Faeriechild were swimming
back to shore. Magicgirl was running to me, her large paws dragging in the sand.
I hid my plastic knife again, so I wouldn't scare her. Suddenly, it started
snowing. SNOW, on sunny Mystery Island?
Behind me, I heard an earsplitting scream. It came from Bubbleina115! I ran
to her. There were patches of ice all over her. I looked up. As the snowflakes
touched her bare skin, they formed ice. All at once, I felt an awful coldness
spreading from my shoulder. I touched the spot, feeling nothing but hard cold
ice. I shivered. Carefully, Magicgirl raised the unconscious Karaaa onto her
back. I scooped up Tali and Faeriechild and we all started for the boat to Neopia
Central. On the way six more snowflakes touched me. Magicgirl thrust Bubbleina115
on and stepped to the side. Tali flitted on in panic, followed by Faeriechild.
"Go before me," Magicgirl roared. She pushed me on before I could stop her.
The last thing I saw was her getting engulfed by the purple light and vanishing.
It was too late.
Meanwhile...
"Where is that pathetic little Water Faerie?" the Dark Faerie screeched. She
was sitting in her tower on a large pile of purple cushions, eating a purple
Negg. The Water Faerie appeared before her. The Dark Faerie smirked and raised
her hand,
"Zyawura doniio justyi hacuu," she chanted. The awful words escaped from her
mouth with a flash of purple light. Laughing insanely, she looked on as the
Water Faerie bit her tongue to keep from screaming. The Dark Faerie brought
out a large, corked bottle. With a small 'pop' the Water Faerie shrank into
the bottle. She tapped on the glass, shouting useless spells and water curses.
The Dark Faerie opened the invisible hidden panel in the ceiling and tossed
the bottled Water Faerie in. She then sank down again and continued her lazy
morning.
It was Saturday and I lay in a heap on the hospital floor sobbing.
"How could she take Magicgirl?" I whispered to myself, "She could have had
anything, and she took Magicgirl…" How could all of this have happened yesterday?
Everything seemed like a bad dream. A dream that wouldn't let me wake up! Karaaa
and I were getting released today. They had been able to remove the ice. But
they informed us that it had also done some permanent damage. The places where
the ice had been glittered incessantly and it was terribly cold to the touch.
''Oh come on it isn't that bad," Bubbleina115 said to me earnestly.
"Of course it's bad! We are freaks now! All because of that stupid snow!"
I screamed. Bubbleina115 put her arm around me as I burst into a fresh wave
of tears. Tali and Faeriechild knelt silently beside me.
That night I was doing a little better. At least I wasn't crying anymore.
Instead, I had sunk into depression. My bare feet padded on the plush carpeting
on the floor of my NeoHome as I made my nightly rounds. I peeked into my sleeping
pets' rooms. My breath caught in my chest as I stared at the empty bed that
Magicgirl usually occupied. I sighed heavily and made my way back to my bedroom
made of silver. I also had a lounge made of gold that could only be entered
with my permission. I sank down on my comfortable feather bed. A purple piece
of paper resting on my pillows shone in the moonlight. I looked it over:
Tiana47,
I know you want to know what happened that day, So
watch your step and do as I say, Make sure you do not get in the way, So keep
quiet about everything you've read, And go to sleep, rest your head.
With those final words, I slept. I never saw that letter again.
