What Else to Do With Your NP? by elleia | |
It's very common that when Neopians make Neopoints they automatically go toward
buying some kind of item, whether it's food or weapons. But is this the only
way to go?
Think logically: if you spend whatever NP you get immediately, what
hopes have you of becoming a successful Neomillionaire? I've seen countless
people saying how incredibly jealous of rich Neopians, who are rolling around
in huge hoards of NP. That's because they have serious regard with budgets,
money-spending and investment bonds!
It's completely unnecessary to buy overly-expensive foods, when you can simply
get omlettes and cheap health foods, to buy high-quality but pricey foods. Your
pet certainly doesn't have to eat three courses of Easter Neggs a day! It's
so much more economical to feed your pets healthy, inexpensive foods.
Pampering your NeoPet is another issue. Some people, without thinking, send
their pets to Astro-Villa for any number of days, simply throwing away 1000-2000 NP,
while some Neopians send their pets to Cockroach Towers to be cheap. Going to
the extreme to be either incredibly luxurious or overly economical are two ways
people go. Of course, the best way to make use of the Neolodge is to choose
a moderately priced, quality lodging, such as Ye Olde Ship Inn, or Hotel Opera.
These places won't throw you in debt and your pets will probably be fine. They
can definitely live without emptying your savings!
And for paintbrushes; we all love the way a Faerie Usul or Shadow Shoyru looks,
and sometimes we forget the cost of making them look so elegantly dressed. Faerie
Paint Brushes can sell easily for 100,000-150,000 NP in the trading post. When
you get one, chances are your pockets are pretty empty of any NP. I understand
the persuasion of painted pets; all my pets are painted, but you don't really
need three Faerie pets, do you? Making a combination of painted pets, if at
all, should be thought over hard and slowly. Shoyrus will always look good,
whatever color they are, so why not fashion yourself with a Purple Paint Brush?
And Usuls, although look wonderful with Faerie wings, will look just as good
with stripes, or a speckled coat, won't they?
Now we have the biggest NP-spender in all of Neopia: the training schools.
People are absolutely crazy for codestones and Dubloons so their pets can be
the best warriors. This is driven by envy for the strongest pets in Neopia.
Everyone wants a grand pet or an unbeatable battler, but it has to be understood
that these NeoPets have taken lots of time to be so good! You will catch up
to them over the months, but if you're a newbie, there's more to worry about
than just making your pet strong. Think about how your pet may feel: being stuck
in training school all day. Codestones are currently selling for 3400 NP, and
Dubloons close to 1600 NP. If you buy five or four of these a day, you'll be
working much harder to make up for the drop in your NP-count.
You have to also think about quests: Esophagor quests, Faerie quests, Kitchen
quests and such. They can be very pricey or very cheap, and the rewards can
be unbelievably great, or totally unworthy. It's your decision to do the quests
you want to do, but it's almost mandatory that you remember not to spend too
much. Esophagor quests, though they provide answers for the brain tree, are
almost always expensive spooky foods. Faerie quests are much better, because
you know what rewards you get from which faeries. Their quests are usually not
too expensive, excluding the Faerie Queen. This is a good way of improving pets'
stats sometimes. Kitchen quests are pretty good too, as rare items are not often
called for, and rewards of 1000 NP are not uncommon.
So, consider alternate ways of spending your NP; maybe investing some of it
in a good stock to make your dreams of being rich come true? Or you could save
it all up for later use. Or you could do something completely original with
it. It's your NP! Spend it wisely! |
