It was a normal day in Neopia Central; the Pteris were chirping and the Chias
were singing. The green grass glinted in the yellow bonnet of sunlight. Why
wouldn’t a teenage Lupe want to take advantage of this wonderful day?
I wanted to, though I couldn’t. I was on my knees begging my owner to let me
go outside.
“I’m sorry, Christine. But you can’t. I’ve got errands to run, and I need
you to watch Caroline for me,” my owner, crazycaroline, had said that day, while
packing her purse with a couple of thousand Neopoints and a pretty long shopping
list.
“B-but... I can’t... my friends," I started in a persuasive voice.
“Your SISTER needs to be watched. Your friends can wait,” CrazyCaroline (CrazyCaro
for short) said as my little sister, another young Lupe, skipped into the room.
“Hey-lo mama! Hey-lo sissy!” CrazyCaroline2, my young bratty sister said innocently.
“It’s hello not hey-lo,” I said as I got up from the tiled kitchen floor, dusting
off my front paws. I gave my owner one last innocent look but she turned it
down. My owner waved good-bye to us as she began to leave.
“Behave for your sister!” CrazyCaro said to CrazyCaroline2 (Caroline for short)
and my sister waved back sweetly.
“Bye mama!” she said ecstatically.
That’s when it all began.

Well, let’s just say that I didn’t always enjoy watching my sister. She always
made the simplest thing to do so hard.
“Caroline, how about a walk in the park?” I asked her, trying to be as friendly
as possible. Caroline agreed with no problem, and followed along. As we were
walking, the Ice Lolly Truck, with the ice lolly man, Mr. Softie came driving
by. Also, at the same time, three fire Lupes came riding by on their Super
Duper Scooters. One of them was one of my best friends, Crisis_XIII,
and maybe a little more.
“Chrissy! Chrissy! I want some ice cream!” Caroline said smugly, pulling on
my tail. I sighed, knowing that I had no Neopoints to spend at the moment, especially
on ice cream.
“Hey Christine, I didn’t know your name was CHRISSY” One of the male Lupes
said, staring at me evilly.
“Put a Negg in it, Roy.” I tried to pull Caroline along with me, but it was
as if her feet were glued to the pavement.
“No! I’m not going!” Caroline sat on the sidewalk, her legs crossed. I sighed,
embarrassed, and quickly glanced at Crisis. Then and idea hit me as I began
pretending to leave Caroline behind.
“Okay, it’s fine with me! I’m just going to go home.” I began walking back
towards my NeoHome, hoping that she’d follow.
“Wait, Chrissy! I’m coming!” CrazyCaroline2 began running as fast as her little
legs would carry her. I sighed with relief, and unlocked the front door.

When we were inside, I sat down on the couch “Caroline, close the front door
behind you, please,” I said, watching my little pain-in-my-behind come in the
front door.
“Chrissy, can I watch Moo Kau, please????” Caroline said, a red coloured ice
lolly melting all over her front paw.
“Hey!!!! Where’d you get that?” I asked, frowning slightly.
“I found it on the sidewalk,” Caroline began to say, as she took the remote
control and flipped the channels until she got to the baby channel. I groaned
and took the ice lolly from her, it didn’t matter, though, she was already glued
to the corny Moo Kau show. I walked into the kitchen and tossed the ice lolly
into the trash can. I looked at the time: 5 PM NST.
“Caroline, do you want some dinner?” I asked, opening the door of the refrigerator.
There was no response. I said sharply, “Stop playing around, Caro. Are you
hungry??”
No response again. I closed the refrigerator door and began looking for her
immediately. I searched the living room, dining room, and the kitchen again.
No Caroline. I checked the basement, still no Caroline. In a rush, I began running
out the front door and searching the backyard. She wasn’t there. Where could
she be? I asked myself, running back to the front of the house, my tears stinging
my eyes.
When I entered the front door again, I remembered one other place to look:
My owner’s room. I pushed the door open to my owner's room, and, fortunately,
there was Caroline. She was in the corner of the room, sitting on the carpet
with her legs folded. In her front paws was a small Lupe Plushie, a yellow one
to be exact. “That’s the Plushie I gave her on her birthday," I whispered
to myself, still watching my little sister with deep interest.
What she did next surprised me, the one thing in my life I will never forget.
She hugged the Plushie, smiling, still not noticing me watching her.
“Oh my sister, how I wished you loved me,” Caroline said sleepily, grasping
the Plushie gently. I crawled over to Caroline and gave her a big hug. She loved
me, and that was the greatest thing a NeoPet could ever ask for in a sibling.
“Oh Caroline! I do love you, I really do. You just annoy me sometimes." I
grinned ear-to-ear, still hugging my baby sister.
“Oh Christine! I’m really sorry, I really am.” She kissed me forehead, it seemed
to melt into my fur.
“C’mon, I think I have some stashed NP under my bed. How about we go and get
some Milkshakes from the food
shop?” I asked brightly.
“Sure! I’ll go get my Leather Jacket.” Caroline jumped up and ran to the closet.
From that day on, whenever I became angry at my little sister, I just remember
that the feeling I felt that moment when I heard she loved me.
