The Truth About Skeiths

by my_chomby_account

I'm writing this article to enlighten your heart and your mind. Or, more specific, to tell you about the Skeiths. What does NeoPets tell us about the Skeith? "Skeiths are the largest inhabitants of Neopia. They are quite strong but also lazy, preferring to get smaller creatures to do things for them." Let's find out if this is true.

I never liked Skeiths because of the bully-image NeoPets created, but that changed a few months ago. I had one pet in this account, a green Chomby. Because I have two accounts, I had to leave it sometimes, leaving poor Jonathan_Christopher alone. I had bought a PetPet for him, but still, I felt guilty. In my guild I knew someone who had a striped Skeith. It was kind of cute, with the purple stripes. This was fairly new to me, a cute Skeith. After long consideration, I decided to get a friend for Jonathan_Christopher. Of course, the first that came to mind was a Striped Skeith.

I was on my way to the pound when I saw a little blue bundle lying next to the road. I took a closer look at it, and saw it was a blue little baby-Skeith. My guess is that it was left there because his owner didn't want to pay the NP for the pound. Tsk Tsk. I took the little Skeith home and named it GatoDaJino. He got along with Jonathan, so we had a nice little family.

Although I expected my new Skeith to grow a lot, and become a meanie who was lazy, that didn't happen. Maybe because I taught him to be polite? Maybe because I fed him only the best food? Maybe because I bought lots of books for him? I'll never know. GatoDaJino is now a happy big Skeith, who loves reading and is very intelligent. He likes all other pets, he's a vegetarian and I don't think he could ever hurt another pet. He might "try" to look like a meanie, but we (me and my other pets) all know that he's a real sweetie. And having a Skeith is certainly not all bad. Skeiths eat *everything*, even those booby-prizes you get from the Tiki Tack Tombola-man! I've found a whole new use for them :) Black sand never tasted so good.

So, is the image that NeoPets created right? Is he one of the largest inhabitants in Neopia? He's certainly not. In fact, out of my eight pets, two of them are bigger than GatoDaJino, one being StripeyChap, the youngest :) Is he strong? Well, he could be, but I'm not very fond of training my pets. I'd rather play lots of games and spoil them :) So let's just say Skeiths CAN be strong, with lots of care and training. Is he lazy? Not more than any other pet I'd say. He loves flying around (have you ever seen a Skeith fly? It's quite humorous with those little wings!) and helping other pets solving puzzles. In fact, he taught my young Pteri how to fly! So what can we conclude, kids? Maybe there are some big, lazy Skeiths who like to bully other pets, but there are exceptions. Maybe I'm the only one with a gentle and sweet Skeith? Let me know!
