The Purpose of Playing Games by sir_metaknight | |
I’m sure many of you Neopians have played the games,
and I’m sure some have you have wondered, “Why am I getting paid to play games?”
Well, the truth is, YOU AREN’T PLAYING!! I have done some nosing around and
found out that playing games is essential to Neopia. Here is what you are really
doing!
Meerca Chase: Few know of this, but Happiness Neggs need to be harvested
year round, and Meercas are the swiftest ones to collect them before they go
bad. You see, happiness Neggs have a ripe period of only one day before their
flavor turns bitter and they end up being frozen. So they need to be picked
before that happens. Now you ask “What about the red Neggs?” Red Neggs are unripe,
and smell horrible. They have been nicknamed ‘anger Neggs’ because if collected
with ripe Neggs, they’re stink spreads to those surrounding it. And for your
services in harvesting, you get paid the worth of your Neggs multiplied by the
speed that you go.
Mummy Maze: There is the legend behind the mummy maze, that if the gold
were to be taken and the spirits destroyed, that upon the departure of the intruder
that the gold shall be magically replaced, and the spirits would rise again.
Now this sounds downright absurd, but Neopian archaeologists cannot prove any
theory other than that the legend is true. So as you might guess, this meant
big money for Kiaran the Kyrii. But how could Kiaran keep making profit without
becoming totally exhausted? Simple, hire people like you to guide one of Kiaran’s
relatives through the pyramid and pay you one-fourth of the total profit (up
to 1000 NP). So you actually play the role of a lackey. And don’t worry; you
can’t die from anything in the maze if you run out of shields you, your Kyrii,
and your money are teleported to safety.
Ice Caves: Garon, the main character of the adventure, is an avid spelunker
(cave explorer), but he has a dark secret that he revealed to me. It seems that
Garon suffers from a mild case of Alzheimer’s disease, and has to radio for
help only too often. Being a retired Neopian with millions of Neopoints, he
pays for his assistance with all the treasure he collects.
Kiko Match: Kiko have two favourite pastimes: playing hide-and-seek,
and making funny faces. Until Kiko Match was developed, though, they were usually
told off for making funny faces at people. Now, however, Kiko Match is a favourite
activity, and crowds of Kikos come to watch Neopets owners try to match the
Kikos, and to see the funny faces.
Chomby and the Fungus Balls: Chombys have only one true enemy, and that’s
fungus. And when they asked for help to get rid of the fungus, they got you.
Your job is to quickly lead the Chomby to the star and then to the starpad.
Now, the starpad is a fascinating device developed by the Space Faerie, which,
when activated, sends out a pulse that destroys all fungus based life forms
in a two mile radius. Note: It is illegal to posses a starpad within five miles
of the mushroom shop within the haunted woods.
Nimmo’s Pond: Nimmo’s pond is actually the most important job Neopians
fulfill, because of the severe problems caused by the lily pads. This year,
a rare and poisonous hybrid lily has been growing out of control, and the Nimmo
Protection Patrol needs to wipe out all of these plants before they make all
of the lakes uninhabitable. They’re best plan of action is for you to give them
instruction on how to eliminate the threat. You are paid for the number of pads
destroyed at the end of the adventure.
Deckswabber: Let’s all face it, pirates aren’t the most sane people
there are, and the rocking back and forth of a ship isn’t the most settling
experience ever. So you can imagine the mess that crew members regurgitate,
and the stink it must make. That’s why deckswabbing is so profitable aboard
the large ships. Now this is all understandable except for a few things like
‘why are there enemies?’ ‘why does a coin appear?’, and ‘why do the tiles change
back to the colour before?’ First, there are no enemies, these are just crew
members that feel like pushing you around, hard. Second, money appears when
a gracious pirate “tips” you for a job well done, except that the tip is up
for grabs until you get your mitts on it. And the reason the tile switches colour
is because you need to scrub with the grain, not against it.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to investigate the mystery behind the Alien
Aisha Vending Machine, But as you can see, Neopia thrives off of all of you
gamers! Neopia needs you, so get out there and play! |
