Chias - Are They Really That Weak?

by dragonshark173

As I have noticed in the chat boards and such, people always say that Chias are super-weak pushovers, and that is why Lupes eat them. I took some recordings and thought a lot, and found out this wasn't entirely true. This article will be about the hidden power of Chias

For one thing I have noticed, is their blubber (no offense). All Chias seem to have extra fat (again no offense) therefore extra skin. If a Lupe tried to bite a Chia, all it would be getting was a mouthful of skin, making them difficult to get a good bite. I have noticed the same thing in the Chinese fighting dog breed of the Shar-Pei (the wrinkly dogs).

Another thing about Chias, why they keep their eyes 'closed' all the time. For one thing, they're not really closed. They keep their eyes in slits to protect them from sharp objects such as knifes and swords. Eyesight is only one vital thing for a Chia, but they use their other five senses very keenly; so if they go blind, they can still rely on scent, hearing, and touch.

Everybody wonders, 'What is that mop of hair doing on top of a Chia's head?' My answer is simple. Notice in all Chias, the hair looks like a bush if seen from the right place. They can hide in a bush with their hair sticking out. Why? A Chia's nostrils are located on the top of their head, strangely. They can scent when a Lupe or any other hungry pet is coming, and when they are leaving so they know if the coast is clear.

Why are they so brightly coloured, you ask? A-ha, only the male Chias are brightly coloured to attract females. In the basic pictures NeoPets gives you, they are all bright. That is because the photos were taken in spring, when the males are most bright. The easiest ones to spot would be the males, so unfortunately all the photos are of male Chias. The females blend in very well, and instead of a bright green like in the pictures, they are a darker evergreen colour to blend in with trees. The yellow ones are more of a tan, to blend into wheat fields, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera

Why are some shaped like apples and plums and things that are yummy? This is all in the same category as the one above. Apple Chias blend in PERFECTLY with an apple tree. Plum Chias blend in PERFECTLY with a plum tree. This way, they can hide from any hunting Lupes and such. And you also might think: Oooh, apples... I love apples! And go off trying to eat an apple Chia thinking it will taste like an apple. Trust me, it won't. If you bite into them, they'll taste bitter, very hot so they'll make your mouth burn, give you horrible aftertaste, and sometimes make you come down with a common illness such as Neopia or Bloaty Belly, and that's no fun at ALL.

So now do you think Chias are the perfect thing to hunt? Think before you do. Chias are more powerful than you may ever think. SAVE THE CHIAS! *cough* sorry. Thank you all for reading this!
