So You're Moderately Rich

by zaaquart

Well, we’ve all seen those beginner tips for the Battledome, and for getting started on NeoPets. Well, how about when you’ve got some cash, some skill and some more knowledge of the NeoPets system? This is a guide to those who’ve worked hard, or those lucky people, (like me) who just found an expensive item, and sold it for a nice amount.

NOTE: For this guide to be of any use, you should have about 50,000 – 200,000 NP in the bank (or anywhere).

EQUIPMENT

First thing’s first, equipment. You need equipment, or your battles will be forever written in the book of Battledome disasters. The strongest for the cheapest, that’s what it's all about. Remember, just because an item is expensive, doesn’t mean it's any good, half the time, it’s the exact opposite. Remember, just because you have a lot of money, doesn’t mean you can throw it away.

Also, remember to have variety in the kinds of damage you do, this DOES effect the amount of damage Fierce Attack does, so it's worth it to mix up the damage types. (example: if you use two items doing fire damage, you’ll only get the higher amount of fire damage on fierce attack, not a combination of the two.)

Plus, it helps to have Endless Use items, cause if those Limited Use ones break, you’ve just lost a lot of NP. That’s not saying you can’t have Limited Use items, just don’t rely on them too heavily.

Grand Lightning Beam
Review: And excellent item, almost a must-have. And most people agree, the price of this item has been rising at a large price in the Shop Wizard. Now the price of this item is steady around 45,000 NP, but get it quick, it might raise very soon! Doing light, fire, and physical damage, it packs quite a punch!

Direct Damage (symbols): 2 Fire, 2 Light, 0-2 Physical Damage done by Fierce Attack when this item is used: 1 Fire, 1 Light, 0-1 Physical

Defense: 2 (maybe 3) Dark
Usage: Endless Use
Price: 40,000 – 50,000 NP
Rating: Excellent!!! (*****)

Supersize Gargantuplex
Review: The best Supersize yet, great for a Physical Fight, as you grow 40 times your original size (why not just sit on your opponent?). A fair price in the Shop Wizard. Equally good on offense as it is on defense.

Direct Damage: 3 Physical
With Fierce Attack: 1-2 Physical

Defense: 3 Physical
Usage: Endless Use
Price: 20,000 – 25,000 NP
Rating: Good (*** ½)

Radioactive Snow
Review: A little variety in attack type, endless use, fair amount of damage… but can you say cheap! 8000 – 10,000 in the Shop Wizard is a nice price for this piece of equipment! With Dark and Earth damage being done (a rare combination), plus protecting from Earth and Light, it’s well worth the money!

Direct Damage: 2 Earth, 2 Dark
With Fierce Attack: 1 Earth, 1 Fire

Defense: 1-2 Earth, 1-2 Light
Usage: Endless Use
Price: 8000 – 10,000 NP
Rating: Great! (****)

The Faerie Items (Circlet of the Air Faerie, Orb of the Fire Faerie, Staff of the Earth Faerie, Necklace of the Water Faerie, and Amulet of the Dark Faerie.)

I’ll do these at the same time, as they are about equal.

Review: Not the worst, not the greatest. They only do one type of damage, but do protect from two types of damage. I consider them a little expensive for what they do, you’re much better off with the Grand Lightning Beam. The price depends of the item, but it's all between 30,000 (the Amulet) – 65,000 (the Staff) with the Circlet, the Orb, and the Necklace somewhere in between.

Direct Damage: 2 of the type in their name (i.e. Orb of the Fire Faerie does Fire damage)
With Fierce Attack: 1 of the same type

Defense: 1-2 of the type in their name, 1-2 of another type (check the Battlepedia for it)
Usage: Endless Use
Price: 30,000 – 65,000 NP (depending on which item)
Rating: Fair (** ½)

Bronze/Red Scorchstone
Again, I’ll do both these at the same time, as the Red Scorchstone is just like an upgrade on the Bronze one.

Review: An excellent Healing Item. They don’t break (I hope), but can only be used once per battle. You might say that the Bronze Scorchstone is useless, if you just buy Bomberry Elixirs for every battle, it's much cheaper, and I might agree with you. But considering that they are worth 3000 each, as soon as you go into 7 battles (as the Bronze Scorchstone is about 20,000 NP), it pays off to buy the Scorchstone. As for the Red, no Elixir heals 20 damage, so it's invaluable.

Healing: 15 damage per battle (Bronze)
20 damage per battle (Red)
Usage: Once per battle
Price: 20,000 – 25,000 NP (Bronze) 40,000 – 45,000 NP (Red)
Rating: Very Good (****) (both Scorchstones)

The Novas
Again, I’ll do all three Nova motes at once.

Review: Basically, a Good Mote. The Ultranova has a chance of being used more than once, but generally, they’re all one-time use. Each one heals, does Light and Air damage, plus Super and Ultranovas do Fire damage. A bit pricey for 1 time use items (2000 for Nova, 5000 for Supernova, and 10,000 for Ultranova), but generally, they can be worth it, if you use them in dire situations. Doing 2-3 kinds of damage, and healing, it’s a worthwhile item. I’ve never tried them, but I certainly will. Healing is worth it, and those two types of attack will give you at least 2 extra damage on Fierce Attack.

Direct Damage: Light and Air (unknown amounts) and Fire for Supernova and Ultranova (also unknown amounts)
With Fierce Attack (all in their minimum, could do more): 1 Light, 1 Air, (and for Super and Ultranova) 1 Fire

Healing: Unknown, no set amount
Usage: 1 time, more if you are VERY lucky
Price: 2000 NP (Nova) 5000 NP (Supernova) 10,000 NP (Ultranova)
Rating: Very Good! (**** ½)

Again, I’m sorry I don’t know the exact amount of damage, but I definitely do suggest you at least try this, and see how it works.

Rainbow Frost Cannon
Review: I just got this, and I like it! It packs a nice Punch (usually only doing Water damage, not all of the damage types it says it does), but that doesn’t matter! It does 4 Water damage, plus 2 extra with Fierce Attack! Plus with the chance of Freezing (though you can’t attack with this item after they do get frozen) it’s a useful item!

Direct Damage: 4 Water (perhaps 1 Fire and Physical, but I’m not sure)
With Fierce Attack: 2 Water

Usage: Endless use, unable to use after freeze works (it might break, though I have never seen it do that)
Price: 50,000 – 55,000 NP
Rating: Good (*** 1/2)

Now, I wonder how much all of this costs. My suggestions for equipment are as follows (with price included) it's not a full eight, but they should be all you’ll need (throw in a couple of defensive items)

Grand Lightning Beam 40,000 – 50,000
Supersize Gargantuplex 20,000 – 25,000
Radioactive Snow 8000 – 10,000
Red Scorchstone 40,000 – 45,000
Ultranova 10,000 – 11,000
Rainbow Frost Cannon 50,000 – 55,000
Total: 168,000 – 186,000 NP

Not half bad huh? A complete set of strong offensive, healing, and freezing items for only that amount! (hears a million people saying “Give me that much and I’ll believe you!”) Ah well, you have to work for that kind of money, but considering, they’re some of the best items for that price! Good luck spending and battling!
