Poogles, Poogles, and More Poogles!

by starry__night__sky

POOGLES - That’s right! I’m at it again! You may remember me from my previous article, Draiks, and more Draiks. Since then, I’ve gotten a number of Neomails asking how I got my Poogle, Kitsune_Tenshin. So, I’m back, and with basically the same article but… IN TECHNO-POOGLE VERSION! Alright, fine… maybe not techno-Poogle version, but certainly the Poogle version.

About Poogles

Poogles are, in some Neopian’s opinions, are the cutest pets around. Want to learn a little bit more about them? Good, because you’re about to! There are roughly 380,000 Poogles in all of Neopia. They are the 40th most popular pet, which means they are the 7th rarest pet. The ‘real’ description of them is: “Poogles were originally discovered in the Northern provinces of Neopia. They may be cute and cuddly, but don’t be fooled, these critters have extremely sharp teeth.” Funny… I didn’t even know Neopia had provinces. It’s amazing, the things you learn while researching an article.

Well, anyway! Poogles also have two of their very own games, Poogle Racing and Hubrid’s Hero Heist! Poogle Racing is gambling game, where you pick one of four Poogles whom you think will when the race. You can also give your Poogle a food item from your inventory, which will hopefully help it in the race. Hubrid’s Hero Heist is about a Poogle apprentice, named Hubrid (if you couldn’t guess). Hubrid Nox has stolen Heros for the Neopets Trading Card Game and Hubrid is trying to get them all back. Poogles also starred in another game, Poogle Solitaire, but eventually, the answers to it were just posted all over the place, so the whole point of the game had been ruined. Consequently, the game was removed. Poogles also can be painted/turned into 30 different colors, those being: Baby, Blue, Brown, Checkered, Cloud, Desert, Faerie, Fire, Ghost, Glowing, Green, Invisible, Island, Jelly (even though we all know Jelly World doesn’t exist! ^.~), Msp, Pink, Pirate, Plushie, Purple, Rainbow, Red, Silver, Sketch, Skunk, Snow, Split, Starry, Strawberry, White, Yellow. I’m certainly by now you all must be wondering how you may obtain an allusive Poogle Well, let’s get to it!

Create a Poogle

This is by far the cheapest way to create a Poogle Actually, you might even call it profitable, because you get Neopoints for creating a pet. This is also how I got Kitsune_Tenshin, my blue Poogle The Neopets Team releases Poogles on the day of the Poogle Parade, a.k.a. Poogle Day, and when they do this, you can create one until the number they have released is gone. Poogle Parade is on September 19th. Your best chance of getting a newly-released Poogle is if you are online the same time as the Neopets team releases the New Features. Good luck!

Adopting a Poogle

Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you may be able to adopt a Poogle from the pound. This costs very few Neopoints in comparison to the other ways you can receive a Poogle A disadvantage to this method is that you can’t actually name your new Poogle, so you’re stuck with whatever your Poogle is. The same goes for your Poogles gender, unless you have the lab ray, but I don’t think your new pet would think too kindly of you if the only reason you were using the lab ray was to change their gender!

Lab Ray

If you’re one of the lucky Neopians, you might just have the lab ray. The lab map, which is how you gain access to the lab ray, costs around 340K-400K. This price is most likely inflated due to the Battle of Meridell, so I would suggest putting this method on hold until after the war is over. This is way requires a bit of patience, because the lab ray does much more than just turn your pet into a Poogle You can also only zap one of your pets once a day. No, not one zap per day once a day, or two zaps a day, just one zap and one pet. The lab ray can also do such things as raise or lower your pet’s stats, levels, change their color, or their gender. Plus, even if it does change their species, your pet could easily turn into any of the other many Neopets. Despite this, your pet could also turn into a painted Poogle, such as a baby Poogle, or a plushie Poogle, or even a Msp Poogle! In other words… good luck!

Morphing Potions

There are a number of Poogle Morphing Potions floating around Neopia, and all are quite expensive. Well, what can you expect? Poogles are limited edition, after all. Hopefully, you’ll manage to get your hands on one of the Potions below. All prices are based on the Trading Post price at the time of writing. So basically, these prices may or may not be being affected by the ongoing Battle of Meridell.

Red Poogle Morphing Potion-400K-450K
Green Poogle Morphing Potion-400K
Yellow Poogle Morphing Potion-330K
Blue Poogle Morphing Potion-700K
Purple Poogle Morphing Potion-400K
Desert Poogle Morphing Potion-Unfortunately, I could not find an exact price for this item at the Trading Post. Only three trades were up, and it is rarity 99, so I suppose we can assume it would cost… a lot.

Magical Plushies

One of the coolest things (well, maybe not the coolest thing) in Neopia are Magical Plushies. These actually change your pet’s species and color when they play with them. Whatever the type of toy is, your pet will change into it. I.E. If they played with a Magical Gold Meerca Plushie, they’d turn into a Gold Meerca. Unfortunately, there is only one type of magical Poogle toy, and that’s the Magical Purple Poogle Toy. This will turn your pet into a Purple Poogle if they play with it. Also, after your pet turns into a Poogle, the toy will turn into a normal purple Poogle toy. Maybe, if we’re lucky, TNT will releases more of these wonderful plushies. Riiiiight? Hint hint, nudge nudge?

Author’s Note: Hello all you readers! I would love to hear from you, believe me! I just want to kindly ask for no Neofriend requests, or guild invites. I only want to be your Neofriend if I know you (online or offline), and I am extremely happy in the guild I am in. Thanks! Remember, I DO love to receive Neomails from people with comments and crits! ^.^
