Conclusion:
Christine marched over to Tia and snatched the twins'
paws from her.
"Well," she said huffily, "I should have
been expecting something like this! I did find it rather suspicious that you
wanted to be paid beforehand, and I regret that I agreed. When I was in Neopia
Central, shopping at the Clothing store, I thought I heard the twins' voices.
Then when I left for my pizza and came back again, the clerk told me the navy
blue dress I was looking at was already sold to some Cybunny, and I didn't have
to think twice to guess who had bought it."
Tia remembered seeing Christine in the
Clothing store. Stupid! She scolded herself. You should have known she would
find out!
"So, Tia," Christine said, though this
time her voice was softer and less menacing, "you took my two little ones to
a Neoschool dance, did you?"
"Yes," Tia whispered.
"And you spent the NP I paid you on that
dress?"
"Yes."
"Well, then at least I don't have to pay
you, since you have already been paid."
Tia chanced a look at Christine. "Aren't-aren't
you angry at me?"
"Well," Christine responded slowly, "I
know that Tommy and Tamara had a good time, and they're back safely…but I do
wish you would have told me."
Tia nodded. "So-no hard feelings?"
"No hard feelings. I'm willing to excuse
you, if you are willing to do something for me."
"Okay…" Tia agreed reluctantly, dreading
what that might be.
Christine gazed at Tia for a moment, and
then said in a desperate, pleading voice, "Please, Tia. Do us all a favor…"
She paused, and then declared, "Take a babysitting course."
